  1. @Chef23 in my original post I did say a promo (meaning 1 year old used promo) but say you bought a new one... what would a brand new one cost if you paid full retail (which wouldn’t happen)... $80K? $85K? That’s a looooong way from $130K
  2. @horton When I say nicer I am referring to skiing and driving. I believe the Nautique is a SLIGHTLY better driving and skiing boat, not by all that much but I believe it’s there. And most people I know agree with that. Honestly, as far as the interior and overall quality of the boat goes I think the MC and the Bu have Nautique beat. The ProStar defenitely feels a step above inside the boat... Also for the idea of “$130K is retail, people will pay much less” okay yes I understand but if I’m shopping for a boat and I see the Nautique at $130K with no trailer, “moderately equipped” or the MC for $60K with options and a trailer, I’m not even calling Nautique... I just bought a new car and when I came across cars that were way out of my price range I didn’t call offering $20K on something where the sticker was $35K it’s a waste of time and I would think people would think the same thing looking at boats
  3. @epnault even for high $80s it’s still insane... plus I highly doubt they come $40-$50K off retail.. you can get a promo MC or Malibu for what? $60-$65K? Yeah the Nautique is a little nicer but not that much..
  4. You could buy 4 used centurions for the price of that boat plus have enough for a down payment on a very nice car...
  5. That boat has been on SIA for a loooong time
  6. As soon as I saw the thread I wanted to comment “please don’t open this can of worms” but a full page of comments later...
  7. I’m not sure about public water access, but most of the private lakes require lot ownership. I usually go to a tournament a year at Hawthorn which is one of the nicest lakes I’ve ever been to. If I remember right I think Indy has a fair amount of ski lakes around it and they are the nicest group of skiers I’ve ever met.
  8. From what I have heard from some dealers it is nearly impossible for anyone to get rid of one of those heyday boats... people would rather spend $65K on an Axis than $40K on a heyday
  9. @LeonL I’m not sure about that, my conversation with Patty was more about her thinking about bringing a Supreme, having it next to her tent just so everyone could look at it and see the boat. Not necessarily one used in the tournament
  10. @horton If that is the case dealers have not been told that as of a week and a half ago. Supreme dealer in KY is trying to get one to bring to the southern regionals... maybe they just hadn’t given her that info yet but they did not tell her that there was not going to be any production this year
  11. I see that boat has NC stickers on it, if its the one that used to be at Lake Magnolia (I am almost 100% sure it had that same color scheme) that is an amazing boat.
  12. I have a friend who always flies from Lexington KY to Florida through Allegiant. Always with a 3 event bag and they have never had an issue at all. Both the parents are doctors so they could fly any airline they needed, but they have never had any issues at all so they keep going Allegiant.
  13. I have always been somewhat confused at how hard it is to get an assistant rating for slalom (I don’t trick or jump so I can’t speak on any of that). If you can run 28 off I would think you are capable of calling scores at a class C tournament
  14. Thanks @bigtex2011 do any of these have club boats?
  15. Hi all, There is a potential that I might be moving down to Dallas for a job and before I get too far into this I was wondering if anyone knows of any ski clubs down there with a club boat that are reasonably priced. This will be my first job out of college, so I won’t have the expendable income that a lot of people on here have. If moving down there meant not being able to ski for a number of years until I can afford my own boat, that would be a non starter for me so any comments are appreciated.
  16. We have a 2012 5.7, one side of our lake is a pretty short setup and I never have any trouble getting up to speed (36) before hitting the 55s.
  17. A slightly wider ski would probably work best for you. Not necessarily a fat ski but something like a senate. I know when I was helping my dad find a new ski (not sure of your age) part of what he was looking for was something that was a little easier to get up on. Sure enough he ended up on a Connelly Carbon V that was a little wider than his first ski (a Jobe 1400) and his second ski (a Connelly prophecy) and he is getting scores that are better than anything he put on on either of the competition skis. The best advice anyone can give you is to try as many skis as possible and pick the one that feels best
  18. My roommate has one (slightly better than average car for a senior in college) and I have never driven anything that is more fun and more powerful to drive... If I give it all the gas it has I have to hit the break within 2-3 seconds because its just too much. Wish I had one
  19. I don't keep records but I ski about 5 months a year, 4-5 days a week, 2-3 sets a day, so about 225 sets
  20. If you want to teach your wife to drive the 200 will be great for that. I honestly feel like I could put just about anybody behind the wheel of a 200 and if I skied bad it probably isn't their fault
  21. Since no one (myself included) answered the questions at the bottom of your post here are my .02 cents. The wake on the 200 is better than the 197. The 200 is what I would say most tournament skiers prefer to ski behind. "rough water" is subjective. I ski on a private lake so my rough water compared to public lake rough water are much different, I don't have any experience with a 200 or 197 on that kind of rough water. I don't think one or the other will take more "abuse" from tubing, you will feel bad doing that on either boat. One thing I would add is, who drives for you? If its someone who doesn't do a lot of skiing/driving the 200 will make their lives much easier. The 197 doesn't drive bad, but the 200 is just on a rail
  22. 200 sits lower to the water and will be easier to take water from the bow if people are up there. Ive seen it with 2 average weight 15 year olds in the bow
  23. @bishop8950 We have 100 pounds of ballast (2 bags that came with the boat) in line with the ballast tank. Just easier to keep the weight consistent IMO. Ive moved the weights around with no real luck. Driver weighs about 170-180. we used to use nearly a full ballast tank but never noticed the spray getting any better with that either
  24. We own the 2012 that @LeonL is talking about and I will fully admit that starting at 35 there is a considerable amount of spray with a headwind. If the wind is calm, I don't notice it. I have skied behind 3 or 4 CPs and have noticed pretty much the same thing on all of them. As far as handling its not a 200 and no one claims it is. This year I got to drive our CP, a couple 200s, a new TXi and a new MC. When I drove the TXi it moved more with a 130 pound 28 off B3 skier than the CP when I'm driving a 150 pound 38 off skier. The MC was fine but nothing noteworthy, I wouldn't buy that over the CP because of how it drives...
  25. 1500 hours is a lot. If its been kept up with, its not a huge deal, but if its had multiple different owners it may have found its way to one who didn't do much upkeep on it. Never skied either so I can't give you any input on that.
