  1. I tried this 2 nights ago, but tried to run the mini course. Got .5
  2. has anyone skied both of these? Im ordering one today (hopefully) to demo, my instinct is to go with the pro, but every single person who I have talked to that has skied the VTX has been in love with it
  3. Never knew that I/O and Outboard were technically allowed to be used in tournaments
  4. I really liked the Vapor. 2@35 first set which I've never done first set on a ski. "Builds a lot of angle fast" is the perfect way to describe it
  5. The difference is you don't really need to sandbag in this sport... If I am OM and decide I want to ski against easier competition in M1, all I have to do is check a box on my registration and I can be a mid 41 off skier skiing against 32 and 35 off skiers
  6. i think it also helps if you ski with the person on somewhat of a regular basis. I have a friend who can run mid 38, and is a much better skier than I am and if I see something I'll let him know. That said, if someone came skiing with us and he just met the guy, any and all advice would go in one ear and out the other
  7. @LeonL I skied the first pass with it like it has been, second set we remapped it. I can promise it wasn't just a good set. It feels like a completely different boat, I don't know how to explain it other than the boat is just there out of the ball. Its possible that the added speed before the gates was putting me fast into 1 ball and I had to play catch up the whole time, now that I don't have that added speed, I am slower before the ball, but this was a drastic difference.
  8. @Broussard But is ZO not set up to respond to the pull of the skier? I ski on C2 so I should have a reasonable amount of throttle when I load the boat, doesn't seem like it would have anything to do with where the boat is in the course? I could be completely wrong about how it operates but that was my impression
  9. So we remapped our boat today. Not anticipating feeling any difference, I was just annoyed when driving because the beep would come around the time the platform went through the buoys. Night and Day difference. The boat was there for me out of the ball unlike it had been for a while. I have NO idea why this made a difference, but it was not in my head. All year I have been skiing behind my boat and getting midway through 32 off, Ill go ski behind a 200 on our lake and run 32 multiple times every set and get 2-3 @35. Went down to Tennessee and ran 35. Couldn't figure out what was wrong, but my first set with the course remapped I ran right inside of 3 ball @ 35 with a HORRIBLE gate. At the end of the lake after my first try at 32 with the boat remapped, my dad looked at me and said "I can't believe how smooth that was and how big of a difference that made" and kept saying it the entire way back. Not sure what the difference was, but it was huge for me
  10. We all showed up later. Best conditions of the year, and pretty much everyone skied like crap all day!
  11. I had a skier who runs into 41 a few weekends ago tell me just this. Had me correcting his 38 and 39 which I had never even ridden at
  12. Im not a large strong skier and I have always used C2 at 36. I figure at no point (until I change edges) will I take less angle after the buoy, so why not go ahead and take the pull and generate as much speed as early as possible
  13. I see on your profile it says you have a 08 196. They are great boats but no one ever associates those boats with a soft pull
  14. absolutely map your course
  15. I just remembered that Radar is going to be taking over the practice lake at some point. Is that an every day thing? If so what time? We are driving down from Oklahoma and I am trying to make sure I get there early enough on Thursday for a practice set.
  16. If I were you I wouldn't go for the graphite or alloy just because the Lithium and Pro Build are going to be the real top of the line skis. They are going to be the fastest and most responsive. The pro build is more responsive than the lithium because they use a different kind of core. Again, personally if I were going to buy one of them, I would go with the pro build because if I had the lithium I would always ask myself "man this ski feels great, but I wonder what the step above it feels like?". Also it depends on how much you are willing to spend. When I skied for Cincinnati we got a deal with a local pro shop for a discount on Radar and most of the people who ordered new skis just went all out and today 4 years later they are (mostly) all on the same ski they bought from that order. If you don't mind spending the extra $100 (I think thats what it is I could be slightly off) I would go for the pro build.
  17. I like getting new equipment because with used equipment I don't know how many people have owned it, how hard it was used, if it was left in the sun, etc. Basically anyone can say "was cared for excellently" and "lightly used" but all of that is subjective to the person. Seeing that you are skiing collegiate and your top speed is 36 I would go for a vapor, the senate would be a good option but I'm not sure how good it will preform at 36. No doubt the vapor will preform better at 36. Where do you ski?
  18. Does anyone take the fin & fin box off of the ski? Was thinking that if you take the whole thing out the fin shouldn't move, and it gives the airline one less thing to mess up
  19. Would the salt water not damage your ski and boat...? Would seem to me that would be a deterrent to skiing there over how the water skis
  20. You're falling back on your gate pullout and it's putting you narrow to 1 ball which is putting you late to 2 ball. Pull out 10 feet later and you will keep your width on the gate and it will make your 1 ball a lot better
  21. @cacman Release will be at nationals
  22. I have not skied the VTX but I have seen a lot of people ski it from the boat, and have talked to a lot of people on them that were on the VTR before (I did use to ride the VTR). I personally did not like the VTR and neither really did the people that I talk to a lot. They all LOVE the VTX and all are skiing much better scores on it. As far as the binding spine goes, from what I understand there were some issues with the durability right next to the spine, I have seen a few VTXs crack near the front foot where it was very thin. The pro looks like a whole new beast and I can't wait to get it. If price is a consideration I would probably go with a used VTX, if not I have talked to 2 skiers on the pro and they both say it is their favorite ski they have ever been on
  23. @scotchipman $14K for a 23 year old boat with 1,200 hours... that's a great looking boat but the price is insane. I've never skied an older prostar, but have read good things. I've skied one echelon and it has a firmer wake that I like. Personally if I were you I would look at a 98-99 Nautique. Rides great in rough water, great wake, handles well, overall good boat.
  24. @OB1 You can return an HO and get a full refund minus $50 shipping fee.
