  1. You guys are worrying about the wrong things. 8 thousands is about the thickness of two sheets of paper.
  2. Can't believe that ballers are talking about jumpers. LOL
  3. @wart Are you looking to live on the lake or live off site and have a membership? Last I knew, triple J was a membership site without any houses. That may have changed. Princeton, Triple J and Ski Haven all have good conditions. I would suggest a trip to all sites. Location relative to work would be a huge factor. My guess is that the distance from downtown Dallas to both Princeton and Ski Haven would be within about 5 miles of each other. Different directions, but I bet the mileage is pretty close. Princeton will have a more suburban feel and closer to major shopping. Ski Haven is in a MUCH more rural area. (read open land and cows). Ski conditions will be first rate at all three sites. Princeton has 4 lakes with about 50 plus lots. Most home owners have their own boats. Some do share. Ski Haven has 2 lakes with 12 lots. The boats are owned by the HOA. Currently have a 09 nautique and a 11 mastercraft. (The Nautique is for sale if anyone is looking) One major difference is that Ski Haven does not allow ANY wakeboard boats or fat sacks in boats. @bmiller3536 WOW dude really. I bet -38 will get a WHOLE lot harder to run in practice after you throw a guy under the bus. See all you boys soon. Ski season is here.
  4. I have seen very good results with the EXO bindings also. Like everything new, it takes some time for the rest to catch up. Some will be resistant to change.
  5. It's like a two hour plus drive from the Seattle airport to the site. Really no good way to get there. One of the reasons that we will not be attending this year. They are supposed to have a night jump, which sounded like fun. I just could not get the other stuff worked out. Travel was a major factor in not attending. Good luck with getting something worked out. It looked like major headaches with limited flights in and out, and the amount of travel to and from the site.
  6. Several places in Dallas area. Two homes and a few lots for sale at Skihaven.org 2 lake site 12 lots. 2 community boats (09 Nautique & 2011 MasterCraft) 3150 sq foot home for sale for 310,000.
  7. @thompjs back in the 80's if your first pass in slalom was not at -28 or shorter, chances are you were not allowed to ski at KYD. It was one of the few places I could ski and run a PB into deep -32 off and be the worse skier on the dock. Oh well, things change. Yes Dallas/Ft Worth is starting to develop some pretty decent overall skiers. Keep your eyes open on a few in the B/G 1,2,3 divisions. Heck even Bruce Butterfields kids trick and jump. In fact, and he may not admit it, but Bruce was a 3,000 plus point tricker 25 years ago. Outside Florida, Dallas/Ft Worth most likely still has one of the highest concentration of top ranked slalom skier of all ages.
  8. @t-up contact me at a0006240@airmail.net Depending on time of day, 30 min north of Downtown Ft Worth. Contrary to what most of the country and thompjs thinks, trick skis are welcome. Jumpers too. Well, maybe not at all Dallas sites.
  9. Have to be somewhat careful. The scores will count, but if you only ski events in the south, you would have to ski the south regionals. Whatever regional you ski the majority of your events in, is the region that you ski regionals in. Skiers that train and ski 80% of the time in FL and live in MI can not go and compete in the MW regionals for placement. There are exceptions for out of area skiers to ski in another region, but it is not for placement.
  10. He hear that the star of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies is a pretty good water ski jumper. He name is Freddy Krueger. LOL Sorry. Had to. I will go to my room now.
  11. @behindpropellers Yes and no with regards to drivers rating. The same way that I would not think about driving figure 8 barefoot, I hope that a barefoot driver does not think that he can pull me 180 feet in jump. For that matter, I don't trust many slalom only drivers to do that. Because you can drive a slalom skier thru -38 does not make you a jump driver.
  12. @eleeski Did they use your boat for jump last weekend? If so, my kid said it was "SWEET" and "felt great into the ramp" Thanks for all you do to help the college kids
  13. @shaneh Yes, the coach helps, but the student has to apply what the coach says. Over the past 35 years I have worked with a ton of skiers. Ranging from real good to, how do you say....... real bad. Back in the late 80's, several of us were setting a course in a city park. A late 20's guy comes up to us says that he free skis for several years and wanted to try. Said he skis at 36. We knew better than to pull him 36 and talked him into 30mph to start. First pass ever in the course smokes 30. Up to 32. Smoke. Before he got in the boat that set, he ran 2@-32 @ 36 mph and did not miss his first ball till -28. He did run -28 on his 2nd try. Great technique. Others have struggled with hips behind their shoulders for years and never get it right. They even go out and buy the best ski on the market, with hard shell boots and guess what........... HIPS ARE STILL BEHIND THE SHOULDERS. Some never get it. Then, when they go out the front, and the shells don't release, and they tear up the ankle, Guess what, they still don't get it. Its not always the coach or the ski. Sometimes its just you. Good and Bad.
  14. I'd like to see it the other way. What happens when a slalom skier thinks he can jump. There is ALWAYS some good video of that.
  15. Can't wait for the hundreds of explanations you will get back. First will be that you need to buy slot calipers. And no you are not stupid. Try to use it as a ref. point. Find a method that is somewhat repeatable for you. Use the same method each time when you adjust. Make adjustments relative to your method of checking. Using someones number for distance from tail my not translate to your checking method. Make your movements relative from a repeatable know location and don't put to much into a solid number.
  16. @scuppers Ok based on that info. Last year one class C score of 2.5 @ -28 gets you to regionals. That sounds easy enough for you. LOL Here's where it may get trickey. If you just get to regionals with the min of 2.5 @-28, you would need to have 4@-38. (ouch) at regionals OR top 5 finish. Last year 5.5 @ -28 got top five. That sounds like it could happen. OR two class C score plus regionals all at 4 @ -32. Good luck and hope to see you at nationals. @Mr Jones I can see both sides of it. Maybe regionals should be the family vacation. Do we run the risk of lowering the standards so far that everyone gets in. Currently, if you are a girls 2 overall skier, you get to ski nationals. Let me say that again, EVERY girls 2 overall skier in the country is qualified to ski Nationals. Does that not reduce the importance of the event? Does is not reduce the image of our sport even lower. Back to the everyone one gets a medal for just showing up. I have seen many young skiers over the years take the "been there, done that" attitude and have just dropped the sport due to there early accomplishments. They did not strive to reach the bigger goal. They had "been there"
  17. @scuppers Is this the same scupper that had a 3 plus million dollar house for sale in central FL 6-8 months ago? I can't imagine that with a house like that, 3k would be a major concern. I remember seeing the house and thinking to myself, There is someone with the world by the cash. I don't know your age group, but last year M4 slalom, one score in a class C of 3 @ -38 (with a 10% penalty) would have been enough to get you to regionals. Then, a score of 4 @ -35 at regionals OR a top 5 finish at regionals would have been enough to get you to nationals. This is allowing for the penalty of 2.5 %. Again, this was last years requirements. They should be close to this again this year. Hope this helps to give you a idea what performances would be needed with the min. amount of tournaments.
  18. @horton, We did make current user aware of a awesome site feature............LOL
  19. It looks like several people are not aware of the feature on the home page of BOS. It lists all the sites by state and has them taged in google earth. Go to the home page and on the home tab, you will get a drop down for google earth. If you click the google earth tab, it downloads a file that when opened in google earth has most private sites on it. It is set up by country, region, state and puts you right on the site. I am surprised that more people are not aware of it. In fact I mentioned it to a skier recently and they were shocked. It is very cool and should be checked out. This is what klindy is talking about above.

    AMskis

@skimech That's why ski it again is such a great deal. Don't buy high end new skis until the growth spurts are done. Its even worse if they 3 event. Buy good second hand skis for half price or less with no loss in performance.
  21. @JC McCavit. Yes the scores are from Lake Hancock. Winter Garden FL Class ELR
  22. For many years, we used Taylor Made World Line. They were the best around. Very good quality and the ropes ALWAYS checked right on. We would buy about 12 ropes per year for practice and tournament use. Cost worked out to less than 20.00 per rope. Our TC for record tournaments, never had to adjust a single rope during the 4 or 5 years we used them. My only wish was that they were still around. Like everything else in this sport, costs have gotten beyond out of control. $70.00 plus for a rope is........... FYI the light weight ropes for jr skiers, they would sell for under $9.00 in volume. I guess that's why they aren't around anymore. They priced their product too low.
  23. I was pulling a new 6 month old Nautique when a set locked up. Wheel stopped turning and yes the tire caught fire. Luck it was in Michigan in early March with some snow still on the should of the freeway. Drove the trailer off in to the snow to put out the tire and had to flat bed the trailer and boat to Correct Craft dealer in Indiana for repairs.
  24. This time of year, the price goes up. The time to buy was several months ago. Good luck with the search
  25. How many times, do you see skiers that are beginners, on skis that are FAR to advanced for them? I think the same is true for hard shells. Skiers at less than max speed AND less than -32 off should stay in a safer system. Loose fitting rubber bindings. If you are running 30 mph at 15 off getting a new Fusion, Goode, A2, Reflex, Fogman or EXO is not going to allow you to ski 36mph 35 off. Take the falls in something that does not put you in a position to get a ankle or knee twisted. If you are going out the front often, learn to ski with proper body position before going to a system that will increase the risk of injury. Because I can drive on the freeway at 70 mph, does not mean that I can get into a NASSCAR at Daytona going over 180. I am asking for trouble. I think that many injuries are caused by improper use of equipment by people without the proper experience. I have seen many beginner skiers get hurt because the binding did not release. The same bindings that were designed for more advanced skiers.
