  1. Wow....what a toy. I looked at some on-line videos on the "XE" version. Camera has a separate file which stores GPS data (since it is a Garmin product) plus the camera has a accellorometer as well. You use free software from Garmin to edit and put overlays on video such as speed, altitude etc...
  2. Check out Mastercraft X7. great all around boat. Owned one for about six years. There was three on our lakes at one point in time, all the owners loved them. Mine could not be upgraded for ZO so sold it to get SN200.
  3. Almost believable until you hear Rico is his coach....I surprised he did not run a Rico 5@43

    SN 200 5.7/ 6L

I have 2011 5.7 promo boat. Does everything I need it to do. 99% of my pulls are 34 mph or below. If you have a lot of 36 mph skiers go with 6.0. 5.7 really screams at 36 mph.
  5. I also play with the 33.5 loop. Just took a old 39 section and put a carabiner on one end and clip it to the 35 section. Planning on using it much more this season since my 35 off count went down last season.
  6. Another amazing weekend in Bako, air high 80's water 72. Nobody can remember a March like this. Temperatures 10-15 degrees abiove normal. Got in another 6 sets over weekend.
  7. It is important not only to flush out systems but also allow time for drying. Make sure the small pockets in the bilge area that collect water are allowed to dry out. Boats at Lake Powell are not allowed to launch unless they are completely dry going in.
  8. In Bako... air high seventies, water 67, wind zero. Charlie and I got in 6 sets each over the weekend. Last set just shorts and vest- no rubber. Got to drive the Ball of Spray Centurion. Next weekend projected for low 80's, my daughter gets to come home from school for spring break to thaw out from Wisconsin freezer.
  9. Three setrs in Bako Sunday. Water up to 65, air 79....did not feel like February.
  10. Played hockey in morning then ran up to Bako to get 2 sets in with Charlie and Horton. Air about 79-80, water 55 (estimate) water is warming and pump goes back on next weekend.
  11. It seems to me that dangling the carrot (Nationals) has very little to do with increasing participation in a sport where many have access to private facilities, boats cost over 50K, and skiis run $1500 to $2000. With these barriers the Nationals will not get someone into waterskiing. Don't water down the Nationals, bring the best skiers and have a champion. Leave the grass roots tournaments, regionals and expo's or "boardstocks" like wakeboarding to bring numbers up.
  12. All you have to do is look at the INT model. Ski West has hosted several USA-WS and INT Nationals. The INT format calls for 250-350 skiers, is held over a shorter time period, skiers get 2 runs plus top skiers go to a final. Even with less total number of skiers they have no problem attracting sponsors. The ski and boat manufacturers will not go away with less skiers, they may put up less dollars but cost to run event will also be reduced. I agree 100% with Bruce's idea
  13. I agree, turn Islands make a short lake feel much longer. You have more time to get up to speed and it gives the skier more time to get situated on the ski. One of the lakes near us has no Islands and they seem to take much more time to get situated and the skier looks rushed. Turn Islands are no big deal with todays comp boats, they become automatic after awhile. With newbe skiers you turn in front of the Islands until they are more comfortable. The above picture is perfect for dog-legged Islands. With a short lake you want to come out of the turn set up for the course. Our shortest lake has two extreme dog-leggs which makes driving much more difficult.
  14. Just one set on January 2nd, still nursing sore elbow from hockey collision. Air 53, water 50. Drysuit and scuba gloves.
  15. I have the same problem. It looks like you may be able to tighten the hardware near the gate but I have been too lazy. I did lile Shane, except I found a piece of foam and just wedge it in the slot when not using gate.
  16. The cost to house officials has been a sore point for most of the sites holding nationals. We also had to provide a certain number of golf carts for officials, many which sat iddle most of the day. Its time to offer officials a per diem amount. If they choose a economy hotel fine, if they want nicer digs then they make up the difference. One complaint we got was there was no bar in the hotel for them to get together and socialize afterwards. It has always been a social event for officials which draws more than needed. Cut down on the hotel allowance and the probl;em will go away.
  17. Listen to Horton when he is in the boat coaching......someone had to say it!
  18. Skied two sets on Black Friday in Bako. Much better than shopping. Air mid 70's, water 59. Thought I had put the boat away a couple of weeks ago and then we got a couple of warm days. Been raining in Cali the last couple of days.....great...we need the water.
  19. Took my last set for the year in Bako last saturday, water and air in lower sixties. Was actually not bad in wetsuit. Detailed the boat, covered it, put a trickle charge on battery, gave her a hug and its time for the 3 month nap.
  20. I am not sure if the 2014's had the plastic inserts that go over the ankle on both sides of your foot in the liner ( for stronger support?) The 2015's have them, but I don't know anyone that is using them, we all pulled ours out.
  21. Have been using the sequence plate for 4-5 years. At our lake we are always trying new skiis (thanks to Horton) or jumping on a friends ski to try it. Makes changing bindings quick and simple, only six screws. I actually own two sequence plates and have a older pair of vapor bindings on one of the plates if I want to jump on a ski to try it. I don't think of it as fas as performance, just a nice convenience.
  22. Call the hotel and ask them. Probably cost about the same to ship ski or pay airline.
  23. Water was in 69-70's, we used spring suits for early AM set because of air temp. You don't really need one but we have them, so used them since this is our first cooler weather. Water should be about the same, depending on who's forcast you believe, Friday high 80's, Saturday low 80's and Sunday low 70's.
  24. We normally touch base with each other on Thursday, to see if anyone is heading up early. I have been getting there by 2 pm the last few weeks. But after October 15th it is hit and miss. Can be 90 one weekend, and 60 the next.
