  1. I dislocated both of my shoulders a number of times between my late teens to early 30s. I think your age and the severity will determine recovery period. For me, any way, it was a week to maybe 6 weeks. 3 months sounds pretty conservative, but I've found that even small injuries take way more recovery time now that I'm 50! Your body will tell you when ready!
  2. See, this is what happens when April weather blows for a large part of the US. Neurosis prone slalom skiers can't release their anxieties behind the boat and start nitpicking at awesome new hardcore ski boats with crazy scenarios!
  3. @skibrain my wife and I have a similar situation. Most of the time, between work, travel, and 4 young kids, we just have to sneak in a quick ski when we can. Usually 30 minutes from walking out the back door to walking back in. Here's a couple of shots my 9 year old daughter took on Thursday evening, right after I returned from the airport from of business trip. Nice way to relieve the stress of travel!
  4. @roberto I just told my wife I was buying myself a new ski as a 50th b-day present to myself, but I didn't tell her how much it was! She thought it was a great idea, as she is a skier and understands a bit how it is. A couple weeks later, she asked how much. Me: you don't want to know. Her: a couple hundred? Me: uh, add a 0. Her eyes got kinda big, but she let it go at that point. Probably because we had just finished a beautiful morning session and were still in the boat.

Back to the Denali, it's worth every penny. Like the others mentioned, it took a couple of rides to acclimate, but by ride 3 I was smiling, and by ride 4 I may have actually been giggling and yelling Weee at the completion of turns!

  5. @Than_Bogan I very rarely switch skis, keeping a ski typically around 6 seasons. Horton probably skis on as many skis in a season or two as I have in my lifetime. He's also developed a pretty good knack of analyzing a ski's attributes and deficiencies and writing them down in an understandable way. Therefore, I'm interested in hearing his thoughts on the ski relative to his much larger knowledge base than mine. Plus they're usually a fun read.
