  1. I actually use "Fin Tweaking" in work to describe spending unending hours trying something that you are sure will make a difference to no benefit. We run an online marketing company and no one skies but everyone knows what "Fin Tweaking" is. Sorry for the distraction from serious and beneficial conversation
  2. Hi Surfing is going to be the challenge. The only one I can think of to give all 3 would be a Malibu Response with a Wedge. Draw is way under 2, but with wedge down you can surf. The only other thing would be to convert it to a closed cooling system to handle the salt. Hope that helps
  3. 35 off pass at 36 hard turn and crack (lucky only the ski). If anyone has one of these that is not using it I'd love to buy it off you. FYI - that is actually the size. The left tip of the ski is a couple of inches longer than the right tip. Thanks
  4. I am currently on EVO Fluid motion front and back, for about 6 years. I initially was on Venom then animals. I ski 34/36 28 - 38. In between i tried Goode (good boots) but the fluid motion allowed me to convert to double hard shells and not miss a beat and eventually skiing much better (PB on EVO). It has saved my lower body parts several times with timely releases. I'm not saying any boots are fool proof. But these were some of the easiest transition boots I've tried, and has helped me with my technique.
  5. Bill Gates https://www.businessinsider.com/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-bill-gates-2011-4 Look up on Google, there was an article about him in waterski magazine back in March of 95.
  6. @jrs I ski on a reflex hybrid - love it. Interested if you know the difference between the 2. Karma vs Reflex Hybrid RRF circa 2015.
  7. Guys, you're missing it - it depends if your right foot forward or left foot forward on which way the rope twist. I'm right foot forward and my wife is left foot forward and they twist opposite directions. Kidding, this thread was such a tangent had to add.
  8. @Stevie Boy I have a thin Schnitz fin on a reflex and to manage it I took a pie tin and cut 3 small square pieces and folded it over the fin to fit snug in the slot. Works great, done it on 3 skies now. able to adjust as normal (Reflex is very sensitive to changes such as water Temp). May work here. or not.
  9. Just starting the season on my favorite ski, doing very well, hit 5 buoy at 36 mph 32 off and crack my ski. Lucky no lasting injury. If anyone has one of these that is not using it I'd love to buy it off you. FYI - that is actually the size. The left tip of the ski is a couple of inches longer than the right tip. Thanks
  10. Has anyone tried taking the plastic covers off? Fan belt and the red top cover to allow for better air flow?
  11. Is there someone from Malibu able to give some details here? Was looking at a new one, but now have some concerns as we're on a shortish lake. I checked MalibuCrew and didn't see anything.
  12. As many have said, Malibu diamond hull has a really nice wake, and add a wedge, that some of them have, and you have a wake or surf boat. You can't imagine how it changes the wake. Depends on the need thou; if it's for just wakes or for a larger boat for more people. Good luck.
  13. It definitely behaves differently on different skies. I have used on s2 and now on reflex ski. The angle and finish of the offside turn on the reflex is crazy. finish meaning, ski ends up in a position i can handle the load. I used my wing angle (1/16 of an inch wide, measured with my calipers) to use as dtf. Good luck, i ski 36 - running 28, 32, playing with 35.
  14. S2 is the most consistent ski I have had. Also better in rougher waters that other skies. Good luck and I also ski with my wife, it's great. Wait till she starts beating you.
  15. definitely power wash. Oil does make it slippery, not necessarily for putting a ski on, but if you have to step on the platform from the dock and it's wet after you have oiled it -have someone with a video - i've ended up in the lake :)
  16. Yes, and I've participated in 2 other sports nationals, and neither required a regional attendance, just a qualification based on level. The cost and time for regional's is to high to attend both regional's and national's. So I have and know of others that have bowed out of tournaments all together. So if you are looking and revenue, this is a scenario that i have not heard mentioned. Still love to ski.
  17. @jetpilotg4 - fell on opener around 2 ball. Learning experience LOL. lucky it was local. Next nationals ran 1 ball shy of person best. Stopped going last 2 years, saved 4K / year both my wife and I ski.
  18. you'd be amazed at the smooth acceleration out of the turn and the setup on the preturn when that ski is setup right. Definitely increased buoys, and at 58 getting deep 38 for first time - way cool
  19. yep that's a RFF, I have a 66.5 s2 - has miles on it, 2011. Couple of small nicks, but still ski's great, i skied both 34 and 36 on it.
  20. with hard shell, the liner makes a difference. If you go up in size 9 1/2 and you take a 10/11 then go with a larger liner. if you go down in size go with a smaller liner. when you mold them the smaller one will get thinner giving you more room, opposite for larger one. Good luck.
  21. agreed - haven't directly measured S2 vs Reflex, but based on holes vs plate location - S2 further apart hence reflex much more sensitive; and it is. S2 i can almost use a ruler to set it.
