  1. @Horton I can't help but feel as though this is directed at me. My intention was not to contribute toward any sort of negativity but simply point out a pattern I've seen and ask a question. There are so many threads that speak of making the sport more affordable and accessible to people of all incomes and abilities. There is also a lot of talk regarding how the latest and greatest is what you'll need if you want to succeed and sometimes it does bother me. So yes, part of my post may have come across with a touch of sarcasm but I do feel as though the question has merit.
  2. I'm a radar fan and love my 2016 lithium vapor but I can already see the write up for this one:

Best ski they've ever made, far different from 2018, effortless offside, some combination of fast/early, etc.

I wonder, are they really that different or is it all hype? And that's an honest question, not sarcasm.

    Now let the hate begin!

(LOVE the video by the way!)

  3. I taught my wife to drive last summer. After a failed experiment a few years ago where I tried to teach her to drive stick shift she wisely suggested that I write out the instructions and she could read them as that's how she learns best. I spent the next couple of weeks drafting a probably 8+ page document that tackled everything from launching/trailering, docking, pulling skiers in and out of the course (with specifics pertaining to our course set up), dealing with other boaters and *shutter* seadoo-ers and more.

This worked very well and now she is my primary and one of my best drivers!

A dream come true to be able to walk down to the water with my wife and ski!

  4. My prop is spinning (albeit slowly) while in neutral. I can stop it by grabbing the shaft so there's not a lot of pressure on it but we had to completely replace the transmission a few years ago so anything transmission related makes me nervous. It's a pcm gt-40 with 1:1 transmission. Just tried changing the transmission fluid but I could only get a little under a quart out. Put that much back in and the dipstick is showing full again.

Thoughts on why the prop is still spinning? Also, any tips on getting more of the fluid out would be handy. I was using a little hand pump to drain.

  5. Adding water helps them to displace easier when you hit them. I don't have a specific ratio, I just fill them till they sit right. I use a 2 litre pop bottle with an air needle poked through the cap. Fill the bottle with water, turn upside down and squeeze!
  6. I had an HO artp for quite a few year until it ripped last year. Got a radar one this year and love it. Can't speak for it losing grip as this is my first season on it but it has a much deeper heal pocket than my HO did and I never noticed any slipping. Also, both of mine have never had any problems with getting loose during a set.
  7. @SSG223 I have a 97 MB Sports Boss 200LS. Very well built boats and has a PCM GT40 (efi) which is the same engine used in nautiques for years. Our only issue was shortly after we bought it we had to replace the transmission after some service by the previous owner where we can only assume they didn't realign the motor and transmission correctly leading to a cracked bell housing.

Being no fault of the boat, motor or transmission, I would highly recommend it in your case. The only thing I notice when skiing the boat is that once you get beyond -28 in a head wind you start getting pelted by the spray off the side of the boat. Besides that, the wakes are awesome and it drives very well. Lots of useful storage in the 200 model. Ours still has less than 500 hours.

If you were closer I'd offer to sell it as we have been eyeing up something a touch newer that's a little friendlier on the skin when getting into short line skiing in a headwind. Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

(sorry the pictures not the best, I can try and find a better one)

  8. So I called and got Gary at Perfectpass and he ran me through a few tests and, long story short, got it figured out. The prize for most accurate answer (which I didn't see until just now) goes to @Mitzysman. Thanks for the info!
  9. I've got an 03 Malibu Response LX with stargazer 3 event v.8. It's hunting really bad and won't settle on a speed. I have the course mapped and even when I bring the throttle up easy with a long set up it still over shoots to almost 38mph before trying to come back down. Times are all over the place. I ran it in rpm mode and it seems to hold fine. I tried tightening the spring and it didn't help at all.

    Ideas?

    Thanks
