@6balls My neighbor has the boat.I have skied it at all line lengths and I ski at 36 and do not like it.He has younger kids and at slower speeds the wake and spray is big.I love the wakes on the Gekko at all speeds and line lengths.The kids skied the Gekko last summer and prefer it over the 196.Have your friend contact me I think there is a 196 for sale in Nisswa if not I can find him one.............Ron 218-851-2801

I picked up a 2001 196 in may I think the wakes are marginal at best.I sold my 2001 Gekko GTR and was probably in love with those wakes and it was hard to adjust.If you have young skiers the wakes on the older 196 are big.That 92 190 looks really nice and I have heard those are great boats.Ck out the Gekko GTR on Mpls.craigslist for 14,000 not sure you want to spend that much however if he wants to sell now you should be able to buy it for less.Great boat with the best wake out there.I just picked up a 2001 MC Prostar 190 and am enjoying the quality and pull.Good luck........

Just picked up a 2001 Prostar 190 with the 330HP northstar and it has a 4 blade prop.I have been told this is the way it comes from the factory.I ski behind my friends 2000 190 with the 310HP that does not have the powerslot trans and the 2001 really seems to have a different wake.Now I know the 2001 has the EVO hull however what impact does the 4 blade prop have on the wake.To me it seems that 4 blade really throws out a different wash and impacts that wake more.If I change to a 3 blade what will happen.Great boat do enjoy it however not sure I want to keep it.Any comments would be appreciated........Thx

Depends on your boat however a longer rope for most boats is better.I weigh about 175 and usually foot at 36mph.I think my BI rope is probably 90ft.

Yes here in NO.MN it has been windy the last 4 days and cloudy and cool.May was wet and now june has not been much better.Not much good to say about the weather so far this year...................

Thanks for all of the helpful ideas.I think it was some bad gas at the bottom of the tank.Ran some seafoam and fresh gas and now its running normal.@eleeski I agree this is not my boat however a new one would be great.I am still looking for a boat to purchase.

ck engine light is not on.Is the fuel filter inside the fuel control cell? And where is the second filter located?

Using the neighbors 196 this morning pulling the young kids it ws running fine.Put some non oxy gas in it tonight and noticed it was really slow out of the hole and started to miss at 34 to 36mph.Running rough now and seems to have lost power.Where should I start to ck things??Seems to run rough at all speeds and has lost power.Any ideas to a quick fix.......

I do not know of any in that area.There used to be a course on the Briggs chain of lakes off why 25 which would be north of Big Lake,however, not sure if it is still there.Trophy lakes in Center City and New Germany would have a course however they are north and west of the Twin Cities.

I see some ballers are skiing this ski.Any comments as to how it compares to other skis and past HO skis.I have a chance to pick one up and am wondering if I should try it.
