  1. @dchristman try the link in the post directly above yours and let me know what guy think.
  2. Give this link a try and provide some feedback. It’s not polished but more functional - https://usawaterski.org/rankings/
  3. This thread needs dates. When is this?
  4. Taryn Grant, Vale Gonzales and Augustina Varas (new national record) in jump. Edit: thanks for the reminder @ral
  5. Probably for another thread but I’d be interested to know who people think the surprise DNQ skiers are.
  6. @lpskier ”Touch me and I’ll keel ya!”
  7. @ETskier went down that path and the cost to show up and set up is a big fixed cost. So The price to broadcast 3 days (Jrs and Open/a America’s Cup) wasn’t a lot different from the whole week.
  8. @lpskier I brought several ideas to the table. First understand that the quality of the TWBC webcast is fantastic because of a lot of things including high quality video, multiple camera locations, and camera operators that understand skiing. It seems each broadcast has gotten better and better as time goes on. Obviously, that isn’t cheap or easy to accomplish. Part of the issue is it’s hard to define value by the primary players that put on the Nationals. The webcast is largely a promotional piece viewed by those already involved in waterskiing or closely aligned. So there’s little incentive to attract advertisers, it does little to attract new members, it’s another major task to setup and execute (both for the site and camera/broadcast folks) and little value to the participants. That said there is a LOT of very high quality video available to use to find value. I proposed 4 possible “products” that can add value and increase exposure for the sport. None of the current players have the bandwidth or motivation to make them happen. So it would likely require a “third party” to coordinate. And there are many important details to work thru. (Note there is interest to make it work). 1) Provide and sell individual camera feeds and the broadcast video of an individual skier set. Similar to a replay, a file would be available to buy which would include shore, boat, broadcast, whatever captured from dock to dock. What is that worth to people, would it sell? 2) Enhance the above by connecting pros willing to offer “GiveGo” style coaching of your set. Only one set so limited value but some formatted coaching may be worthwhile to some. Again, would it sell and for how much? (Assume a revenue split with the coach). 3) Provide still images similar to the past sports photographers captured from the HD video. The quality can be quite high and the skier could “pick the frame” to base the shot. Do people still desire still shots? Can be printed or just a digital image or both. Is this an impulse buy on-site or could it be sold after the tournament? 4) Edit and produce a 30 and/or 60 minute broadcast quality video of the America’s Cup/US Open meant to be broadcast on major sports channels and other consolidators to show in sports bars etc. Advertising revenue would be the primary target. Any/all these ideas are potential ways to generate revenue to help make this sustainable every year. Again there are lots of details but those are some real suggestions. Perhaps it gets to a point where these ideas make the cost and effort to setup valuable enough to defray all costs.
  9. @bigtex2011 probably the price tag.

@swbca why wait? They should look over their shoulder for him now!
  11. And I’ve skied in it for years. Only a couple “bizarre” pre-releases where I made some adjustments and been fine sense. It works. It may not be the best. But I’m not complaining.
  12. “3 or 4 strips of 400 across the front”? First that looks like the release started from the rear so what’s on the front is less important. But 3M does NOT recommend using 400/400. In other words do you have 400 on the ski meshing with 400 on the plate? If so, that’s a no-no. The little pegs are so dense, since they are same size, they apparently don’t mesh well. See this link https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/dual-lock-reclosable-fasteners-us/
  13. @Jody_Seal and those same loaders mine iron ore, coal, limestone, bauxite, and every other miners that goes into EVERYTHING you buy and use. It’ll take a long time to transition but the electrification of the power industry in general is a path that won’t be stopped. In 1856, Bessemer invented a new way to make steel. I’m 1948 the Basic Oxygen Furnace was invented and revolutionized the steel making industry effectively making Bessemer process obsolete. Today approximately 20% of the steel made in the US is made using a BOF and 0% of rebar or beams. Todays carbon footprint in steel making is less than 20% of what it was and is largely based on electric arc furnaces. During that same time interior lighting went from whale oil to candle light to natural gas to electricity. Prius was introduced about 2000. Nissan Leaf about 2010. Today - about a decade later - Tesla is the #6 most valuable companies in the world. Farce? Ignore it? Sure … that roar you hear isn’t a gasoline engine. Point is, technology moves a lot faster then you think.
  14. If there was some spring tension to keep the camera moving forward at the apex it would work. Instead of the rope rotating the camera forward, the rope would “hold it back”. Directly behind the boat a cam would ‘flip’ and the same thing happen on the other side of the boat. If something comes out like this I claim the utility patent.
  15. @Horton 100 buoys? 100 passes? 100 actual buoys (like 12 or 13 passes) or 100 if it was scored? Your CA code doesn’t register with us easterners.
  16. @kirkbauer all good corrections. The copy/paste @Jody_Seal posted above has been around for several tears and, as you said (and corrected) is mostly exaggerations and totally false statements.
  17. PR FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 1, 2022- Bakersfield, CA Today the consortium boat path monitoring systems of SurePath, SkiPath and SplashEye announce a joint venture with Invisible Technologies, Inc. and Sports Leather, Corp to co-develop technology solutions for boat path guidance. “The combination of the boat tracking systems along with the long history of the Invisible Fence makes the perfect alert system for this emerging technology. The addition of a genuine soft leather collar from Sports Leather should make the boat path correction process something drivers can work with all day long.” In addition, the technology reduces the concerns around COVID-19 by helping assure the driver and boat judge maintain a safe-distance. The synergy will provide Invisible Fence additional WiFi technology to increase the maximum coverage area for their pet containment systems. Coupled with GPS technology gives pet owners more control and security to both keep their pet in the yard as well as locate their pet if they escape the installed system. John Horton, owner of Ball of Spray, the leading online waterski forum says, “I’ve tested the technology and I’m impressed by how the collar provides immediate correction while keeping your hands free to make steering adjustments. The increasing intensity has made me a better driver. I’m sure the stylish collar designs will be popular across the whole country.” Sports Leather, Corp is excited to expand their options of physical stimuli for their customers. ShockPath will be available April 1, 2022.
  18. @Hucklefin true but prioritizing mandates and incentives have driven policy for decades. Changing those priorities has both positive and negative effects in certain sectors of the economy. Smart business reacts or anticipates those changes and finds ways to make money. Politics today are so polarized that the shifts are huge rather than more subtle. Change is inevitable.
  19. @Horton you’re exactly right. EVERY car company is spending money on EV and new car companies are popping up because of it. Because the market is asking for it. It’ll take some time but it’ll get there. Remember the Edsel came nearly 50 years after the car was “invented”. The cycle is a LOT faster now.
  20. Remember less than 150 years ago whale oil was the present and the future. Something “better” always comes along. The technology and the market will accept and improve it or reject it. This is no different.
  21. John Coleman may have founded the Weather Channel and may not believe in climate change. He also said it would be sunny on Thursday and it rained all day …
  22. @The_untalked_about is there a particular incident or event you are inferring that some sabotage occurred? I find your screen name interesting and all 4 posts in this thread. Seems you’re subliminally suggesting you know something.
