  1. We really needed tshirts with our baller name 😀
  2. The handle feels pretty similar. Top quality and the handle still looks like new after many many sets. It's great to see another USA based producing quality ropes and handles. I would also add, amazing customer service.
  3. I will be there from Thursday, embarrassing myself in both slalom and tricks.
  4. I believe they decided to run a 55k event instead of a webcast. I really like what @JeffSurdej did in Chicago with webcast. I understand it was funded through go fund me and sponsorship. As a side note I also think the format of America's cup was really good.
  5. It's nice to have another event with a webcat. @Clydesdale at least there is a mute option 🙂
  6. I think, the only way to get more skiers is to develop ski clubs and ski schools. If there was a ski school near my house, I would consider that option over owning a lake house and a boat. When I leaved in Florida, I could get 2 ski ride before lunch and spend the afternoon with the family at the beach or by the pool. Local tennis club, not fancy, charges $75+ for a one on one 45min lesson. Just a guy renting a court. I pay $60 in Florida for 15-20min with $150k boat, driver, coaching, gas, lake... My point is you don't need to have a tennis court at your house to play tennis. You just go to the local club and pay $10 to $20 for a court. Some locations are better suited than others to have clubs, but to me this is the door to more members and addicts.
  7. If you don't know what happened, go watch the video on the masters website Day 2 Semi Finals: 4:23:20 The facts are we don't know what really happened. On the judging, I believe there is a tower right by 6 ball. Looking at how Freddie came into 6, having to throw his ski around the buoy, it would have been a difficult call to make even with the best view. My understanding of the rules is that, in order for the calls to be reviewed, the judges must have disagreed. We know the boat called 6 and we assume the tower called 5 and 5. Since the video review was not available (Freddie not in the shot while turning the buoy), The initial score, majority 5 stands. The hear say... some say that they believed judges were watching the video on screen instead of watching the skier live. I am not sure what the judges configuration at masters is, but I was told it was a one tower configuration. In his comment, Dano said the judge have a great view of 6 ball, however the tower location would not really be a normal position for judging. If someone can confirm it would help understand the call. Some also say tower judges did not make a call until review. Again I believe judges have to make a call, then review if necessary. If judges were not sure whether Freddie went around 6 because they could not see it, the rule says the benefit of the doubt goes to the skier's favor. This suggest that the tower judges did see Freddie go inside 6 and stood by their initial call. The tech: All this could most likely have been resolved with a good video of the action. I am sorry for the person holding the camera in the boat, however, we can see on the replay that they were filming ahead of Freddie before 6 ball, then behind Freddie after 6 ball... Taking boat video is an important job, and skiers at 39, 41 go very fast. I am not sure who was in the boat but they did not seem experienced enough for the job of tracking a skier at this level. I don't think they should have been put in this situation. There was also a comment on the video, that the judges can use any video available to make the call, which is not correct. What was the right call? Only Freddie, the boat judge, the tower judges know. Or do they? Who had the best view of the action? Boat judge, tower judges? I guess we will never know. (but I think boat judge 🙂 Should Freddie be banned? It's complicated. The Masters LOC does not have any obligations to make an official statement to explain what happened. It seems Freddie may have been emotional about it (no sh$t, I would have). Some say Freddie remained polite. It seems the judge may have been intimidated. Who knows... Apparently, the LOC at tournaments can ban anyone they want for no reason. For the Freddie fans, it was a bit of a risk for the Masters (LOC) and Nautique (the money) to not make a pubic statement. The fans will wonder whether it is because they didn't have a good enough reason but they did it anyway. Maybe they don't give a crap. Maybe they think one less non Nautique skier in the mix. Maybe Freddie broke someone's nose and kicked them to the ground... (2nd degree, he did not) We will never know. The 2023 US Masters of Waterskiing It is happening, with the same Chief Officials. Will the towers and cameras be the same. Will there be more drama? People will watch, there will be a new Masters champion, and we will just have to move on and hopefully see Freddie be invited in 2024. P.S. Actual still frame of Freddie not running around 6 ball -:) Happy Masters week-end everyone!
  8. It looks like they took the top 4 of LCQ2 Pigozzi Sledgehammer JT Sacha
  9. There are different lenses to look with. I was in Orlando for a tournament at MC skis and Swiss. both had a wait list. I could see the boat pulling ski school all week from 8am to past 7pm non stop. In Europe most skiers don't own a boat, nor have a place on a lake. They join a ski school club. Where I leave in So Cal, there are no ski Schools. It makes it difficult for anyone to just come and get a ride. My view is that USAWS should focus more on open days at lake, partnering with ski school and lakes. We could have a USA Waterski Summer tour with demo days...
  10. you would expect Nautique to provide a public statement to explain what happened at the event and their decision to ban Freddie from Masters 24 and LCQ.
  11. Freddie being banned from Masters is not good for anyone (except for a few other skiers 🙂). The issue is a shore argument, and, there seem to be a lot of unofficial words on the topic, but no official statement. Banning a top skier from such a prestigious event should come with a public statement. Another unofficial version is that the officials were watching the video live which is not allowed under the current rule. Assuming there is a valid case for Freddie to be banned from Masters, maybe a warning or a fine could have been sufficient. What I don't understand is the banning from LCQ tournaments where skiers not trying to qualify for Masters are allowed to ski. Thoughts?
  12. This is something I saw at an equestrian center. While not tall enough, but I think the design is pretty cool. I also attach a pic of a mobile tower at our lake. What I would also say is that it depends on the usage for the towers. Class C judges only. Video will be installed in tower with tv screen? Do they need to be mobile? Will they host a scoring station? C9B54D41-896A-42A6-BF58-C9F458CB0368.HEIC
  13. I am surprised of the price difference for a 2023.
  14. In the scoring book both scores would be 114 assuming it is 36mph. It’s a tie. i am not sure why the slack line rule doesn’t apply to 6 ball and why it was perceived less dangerous… One part of the rule that is usually misunderstood and I witnessed being judged wrongly, is that 1. it doesn’t apply to 6 balls 2. At buoy 1 to 5, skiers only get half a buoy with a slack line, even if they ski away.
  15. @kelvin the 900 people are the one that will be buying a d3 or a Nautique boat. not the people walking on the bridge on their way to buy a waffle 🙂 Again, great and unique event. I think the webcast is important. The ads are way over the top.
  16. @kelvin I think Moomba is amazing and I enjoy it every year. It is a fantastic exposure for skiers and the prize money is high. This is an opportunity to showcase the sport to non skiers. Now, let's not kid ourselves about how much of the 50k to 100k actually watches or has any interest about what is going on, on the Yarra. Most people are enjoying a long weekend, riding rollercoasters after eating too much truck food.
  17. I have a RFF one for sale. There is also a like new C75 mounted on it.
  18. There is so much to work on when we ski, and so little time to work on it. It is challenging to work on repetition. I am heavy and therefore, I am working on being still, over my ski before the thinking of the hundreds of other things I need to do. Getting the first few rides of the year, in freezing California, I tend to focus more on vision: - Keeping my vision up is game changer. - On pull out, looking down course keeps me wider and gliding longer - From apex to finish, looking across course, keeps me over the front foot and moving towards the first wake. I cannot look at a specific point like back of the boat or buoy... but just in a specific direction or level to horizon. Anyone else?
  19. Dear Eric, Goode Ski Technologies has been an integral part of my life since I married Dave in 1999. The company has given me the opportunity to visit many beautiful places and gain countless new friends from across the world. When Dave died three years ago, we committed to working with the team Dave built and mentored to continue serving our customers and distributors, and supporting our sales representatives, sponsored athletes and major professional and amateur events, including the Goode U.S. Nationals. With those goals accomplished and the company doing well and positioned for growth, I'm excited to enter a new stage in my life and transition the company to a new generation of leaders. I have sold Goode Ski Technologies to Chris Roberts, the company's current general manager and an employee since 2005. Chris, pictured above with me, has been an integral part of our success since Dave's passing and he understands as well as anyone the company's reputation for innovation and its cutting-edge place in water and snow skiing. I am confident that Chris will continue to manage the company in a way that Dave would be proud of, while also finding new ways to deliver performance and results for its valued customers. Chris will have the support of a strong team of employees – many of whom have been with Goode for decades – and the most accomplished pro team in the business. And I'm happy to report that the company will continue to support and manage the Dave Goode Memorial Foundation. For more than four decades Goode Ski Technologies has measured itself by innovative products and world-record performances. With Chris' leadership and his team's support, I am confident that it will continue to do so for many years to come. Thank you all for your friendship and encouragement, both in building and growing the company, and in the aftermath of Dave's tragic death. Although I plan to retire from competition, I will continue to ski recreationally. I wish you the very best and hope to cross paths with all of you – either on the water or the snow – in the near future.
  20. Get better soon! Looking forward to more Caldwell at tournaments this year.
  21. great idea. now we need the crowd!
  22. @Jaypro looks really nice. Boat price is so crazy though. It is going down but not fast enough. If you are happy with PP it's okay. I know someone in California bought a 2007 for much cheaper and had a 6.0l PCM put in with ZO for a total about the same or less. This one in Florida is an 09 https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Boat_3Event&postid=65792 So I would think you have some negotiating room
