  1. @MISkier Can't argue with results. We use black as well. The cheap ones, not UV rated. Better life probably has to do with other plastic additives that you cannot add to plastic and still be almost clear plastic.
  2. Note: Being "black" does not mean a wire tie is UV resistant. Having additional chemicals added to the plastic is what makes them UV resistant, and the packaging will say they are UV resistant. Otherwise, you simply changed colors. They will also cost more. That said, not sure UV resistant is that important if you don't leave your handle lying in the sun for extended periods. We have found our wire ties used on buoy anchor lines begin to fail after about 5 years of everyday, all year exposure to the sun, filtered a bit by the water.
  3. @MattP For Regina, is 2009 the first year she ran 39, or how many times she has run it? B)
  4. @MISkier Haha! This is definitely not a serious poll. I suspect if caught with a little ski tip over the rope, many on here would do what @bsmith said. If possible, save a crash and safe your ski.
  5. @MISkier I think that might have qualified for a "flying circus act". No?
  6. I have done the second choice a time or two. Didn't go flying, but letting go might have been smarter. So, I'm hoping I let go next time my ski gets over the rope. :)
  7. If you were caught in this position out of 3 ball, what will the following frames of the video show?
  8. That's not how you're supposed to do it? :/ Hmmmmm...
  9. Carl's sister Karen was also a solid water skier.
  10. Any chance Regina's 39 can be reposted, without sound if needed?
  11. Yup, Like @Ali noted, a good bit longer DFT set screw could be handy.
  12. @Stevie Boy Yes, the Radar fins are thinner. The CG fin is a very tight fit in the current one-piece Radar fin block, but it will go in. You may need to loosen the 6 fin block mounting screws to help get the CG fin in. Then tighten them back up. I was going to try the older two-piece Radar fin block, but the mounting hole pattern is different.
  13. Yes. Good to start at your standard fin numbers, except about 0.030 further back on DFT. Unless you are on a Radar Vapor, set DFT same as standard, tweak from there. Your first tweak might be a little less length, a little more depth. Some might like a little less wing angle. I didn't feel the need.
  14. I'll have whatever @Horton is drinking.
  15. @MNshortliner With that small wake you have now, don't you feel like you are cheating? LOL. Nice skiing!
  16. @Stevie Boy You "start slow with your ankles"?
  17. This method adds a little stiffness to the mid-span of your pipe as well as the flotation. But, any means to provide a small amount of lift at mid-span should work.
  18. Ed at ez-slalom recommends a 4 foot section of the same diameter PVC pipe with caps glued on, then attached mid-span to your turn ball arms with large wire ties. I did that when I put my cable course in 5 years ago, and it is still working great. Actually, mine are 42 inches since I had 6 pieces of that length after cutting my pipes building the course. No sag, and all buoys float the same. You do this, you will not need to do anything else, so long as each anchor line is about the same. No other extra junk to deal with. For your two anchor lines at the ends of the course, Ed recommends using at least 4 feet for every foot of depth. That's all you need. And, use 3/8 or 1/2 inch nylon rope. The nylon rope will last forever, and is slightly negatively buoyant - won't float up on you. Plenty of ways to skin this cat. Keep it simple. Good suggestion above to have hooks on the top of your buoy anchor lines for quick attachment and removing.
  19. I always pass on extended warranties. Sure, a time or 2 you might wish you had it, but over time, all vehicles and appliances, you are likely many dollars ahead by not spending the rich premiums they charge. But, it's a personal choice. Can you negotiate a better cost? For dealers, selling these warranties is a huge profit center. Along with financing.
  20. @MNshortliner Must say, you do very nice work. Should you consider a couple straps over the gas tank to keep it from jumping when you hit a big roller? The end with the fill hose might not move much, but the other end might. Thinking something like what is used on a battery box, except stainless hold downs on the floor instead of plastic.
  21. @Bh0pp I could picture your end pieces attaching to the ends of my dock bench. I'll have to measure the length of the bench. It may be too long to keep your pieces inside the fin and ski tip curl. Nice job!
