  1. Bob LaPoint set World record in 1982 I think. 3 at 39. I remember thinking, no one will ever run all 6 at 39.
  2. Chuck Forest 9 time Champion out of 10 starts, The ultimate BIG DAWG. Congratulations Don,
  3. Look for upcoming article in Water Ski Mag. regarding boys1/ boys 2 / boys 3 speed. I've been driving tournaments for about 35 years. My guess is we loose 80% of the boys 2 skiers, when they go to 36 mph. Take a 13 or 14 year old, who weighs 110 lbs. the first time he goes 36, his eyes are like a deer in the headlights. He regresses as far as rope length. all the attention he got coming up in Boys 1, ( personal bests every week ) lots of congratulations, encouragement, etc. Then he goes to boys 2, ( 34 mph ) most of the boys make this transition, however they do regress as far as rope length etc. Less, attention, not many PBs etc. However most of them hang in there. NOW, when they go 36, Holly cow!, they really regress as far as rope length, no praise, no PB.s no attention. etc. They get discouraged, they go out the front a few times, and that's it, they want to go to the Mall and hang out with their friends. Again, I have seen this through the years, in Ohio, we loose 80 maybe 90% of the boys, when they go to 36. Someone mentioned above, if a boy does not have good form or technique at 30 or 34, He is toast at 36. OUT OF SPORT> DONE. boys 1, should be 30, boys 2, 32, boys 3, 34. ( Same for everyone) , let them progress safely, Now, if you have the exception, i.e. Chris Parish was running 38 ( 36 mph when he was 15) let that young man opt. up to Mens 1, if he wants, ( can't come back, but let him go. WHY NOT? Keep these young boys in the sport, keep them safe, keep them encouraged.
  4. John, good stuff, hats off to ya. It's easy to talk, and lots of people do, it's only a select few that do something and make it happen, Best of Luck, you are on to something good.
  5. John, How about an old guy, who skies 32 mph. I would like to ski in it. Greg
  6. It's important to go to where the skiers are. i.e. Fl. Tx. North West US, and Carolinas . Important to have good sites, good conditions, easy to get to, Not important to have near major populations. i.e. LA, NY, Boston, etc. not that many skiers live around those cities. Go to where skiing is popular and has most skiers. i.e. TX, Fl. Need experienced club to host event.
  7. Okeeheelee, , Tx. Ca. and S.C or Hickory NC.
  8. confirm what others said. Get out of your home site. When you know a tournament is coming up. and it is within a reasonable driving distance of where you live. Ask the people who are putting tournament on, if you can come over Tuesday night or Wed. night and or Thur. night and drive some practice. SEAT TIME, Seat Time, Seat Time. Get help from some Sr. Drivers who are well respected, Driving is fun, lots of people want to drive. I tend to lean toward new drivers who WORK the event. Get you judges rating, or scorer's rating. sit in a tower, volunteer for dock starter, empty trash cans, etc.etc.etc. That is who ( as CD ) I will try to bust my butt for. Don't wait to be ask to do something, go up and ask tournament Host how you can help. Ask ALL the officials how you can help. The most difficult group to drive for is Kids, Driving the course is easy, it's out of the course, around the starting dock, picking up kids and less experienced skiers. that is a challenge. etc. Don't ever ski / drive and leave. Stay to help wipe down boats, clean up site, etc. Pulling Parish through 39 is easier than pulling kids at 16 mph and 18 mph. Mens 3 and Mens 4 and MM is probably the easiest skiers to drive for. A 19 yea old, 190 lb strong young man , skiing at 15, 22 and 28 is way harder than pulling Mens 4 or MM. Do more than just Drive.
  9. Hat off to Greg K, ( Ohio ) He has done an outstanding job, with the Buckeye Buoy tour. Lots of fun, gives beginners, regular skiers, and kids, a reason to participate, Actually, my wife and I , had a great time at the last Buckeye Buoy tour, more fun than we have had at many regular tournaments. Easy to talk, Not that many people actually step up to the plate and make a difference, and make things happen. THANKS GREG k, FOR MAKINMG A DIFFERENCE.
  10. CP got married today. Congratulations. He seems calm, confident, and ready for a good season.
  11. Very, very cool. Never had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Hanna.

  16. ntxntx Posts: 509 Baller March 27 Flag My guess for the stars and strips is 77-79. The 80 had a three sided windshield. Regarding 1980 master craft. MC had two models, in 80, a standard, and a deluxe, the deluxe had three piece windshield, the standard one piece windshield, standard had textured deck, deluxe had smooth deck.
  17. Looks like about a 1980,
  18. My experience has been ( on ebay since 1999) and have sold many boats, motorcycles etc.etc.etc. Whenever someone will not call you, or you can not call them, it is most likely a scam. When they want to do everything via. internet, or text. and they will not talk with you. I smell scam in some way.
  19. Right on Jody, it amazes me, that some people bitch, complain, have tons or ideas, lots to suggest we do this do that, etc. but like you said, They never show up to make a difference or make a change.
  20. I put a Goode Nano XTM on ski it again, and within 2 hours, someone tried to scam me. Be careful. these guys are slick.
  21. disland Posts: 642 Baller 9:44AM Flag Its easy to type into a computer. Its harder to plan and host events. LOVE IT, spot on.
  22. Skip Dunlap in his 70's ran 38 in a record tournament. several months ago.
  23. Gene Daulton, 90, skies every day. Hooks her boat and trailer to her car, ( daily ) by herself. drives over to Okeeheelee and skies every day. with some friends. skies slalom course, however she is pissed off, right now, because she can't make the entire course. Jean is 90. Go Gene. Go Bucks. Oh, by the way, she skies all winter and doesn't wear a wet suit. Tried a new ski a couple months ago, didn't like it, ( went out the front ) went back to her old ski.
  24. Lack of interest and tournament participation is dropping , because tournaments are boring, and lacks real competition. One thing is for sure, if we continue down the same old path. doing the same stuff we did 45 years ago, you are correct, sport is doomed.
