  1. @BC_Skier that’s awesome. I’ve helped people do PP installs in everything from jet boats to twins to outboards and normal inboards but I’ve never seen it done that way before. Thanks for sharing!
  2. Why don’t you ever send off your old boats. Would be very interesting to see where they go
  3. 100 friends took a massive pontoon for a 45 minute ride to celebrate Australia Day today. We enjoyed a BBQ lunch, drinks, a swim & skiing. We assembled it all yesterday, added 3 outboards today and away we went!

Looking at the photo of the haynes above, you can see that the ski pole is high above the engine. Slide the rope further down the pole and it will make a big difference. Put it as low as you can while still clearing the engine when you ski. If it wants to slide up and down the pole, just put a lap or two of duct tape to hold it in position, it won't take much. It is the principal of leverage and moving further down the pole will make a big difference. Also as you said try trimming the motor up a bit. Do you need it trimmed all the way in for holeshot? Can you just trim it into the optimal running position for her before you start or will that make the boat stand up in the nose and scare her? Note that having the rope further down the pole will help this too.
  5. @horton I think we are in boom times. Things are different sure but they are good. Innovation + marketing = currently sales in our sport. There is excellent access to a worldwide audience of people willing to buy if they are given a reason Yes we may be competing with many extreme sports but there are endless new skis, new boats, new wetsuits ropes and other products. Who do we want watching our sport? Keen people or couch potatoes. Sure there are less people but the quality is much higher and that is worth really money for the smart company that realises it.
  6. @Spineofgoo yes they have tracking fins. I have owned two, great boats. Slalom wake is at least as good or better than the new prostar at every speed. Not sure at ultra short lengths but they were used at the biggest water ski tournament in the world for many years up until about 2001. Stejcraft pro skier
  7. Check out the boat path. A hand driven outboard... And the world record jump of the same time A current photo of that boat
  8. Brilliant! What line length? Answered myself. 38off
  9. If anybody ever wanted to build an outboard powered 200 that would be the boat to do it to!
  10. @Gloersen thats funny, I laughed so hard my sides are Horton......
  11. @lmt383 tell us more. What is the wake like? How much fun has your family had with it? What is the coolest time of fun you’ve had with it?
  12. @Stejcraftben aud$30k is cheaper than paying usd$18k plus freight and gst. About the price of the freight cheaper ....
  13. Vacuum secondaries are a problem when they kick in. Most boats operate below that range for slalom skiing but they are a pain if they do kick in as they make a big difference with tiny throttle movement. For barefoot they can mean 3mph speed change. For me, EFI please.
  14. @horton nobody will give you a floating course. Really? A video from you would sell heaps of them.
  15. Fill a bucket with concrete with some pvc pipe up the middle and put it over the stake. Then there is nothing sharp to hit but everything still works as it was. Cheap and quick.
  16. A really light outboard boat with a tiny wash will get them over the hump and once they pick the speed up your other boat will be great. You only need to borrow one for a few weekends or buy it for maybe a season.
  17. @Dacon62 9.0 still wasn’t great with short setups. I upgraded to 9.2 a while back and in my boat if I accelerate hard it stops accelerating so firmly that passengers heads will whip back and smack I to the windscreen frame when the boat hits set point. It finds set point fast
  18. @Dacon62 which revision of version 9 exactly?
  19. Just buy a stargazer upgrade and run it in classic mode if you really want the classic pull. GPS no magnets gates mode still works. Much easier than dealing with magnets.
  20. Jack was an incredible man. I found his lake via google in 2008. I was driving past on a visit from Australia. What a character. How welcoming. I drove back from LA for a second visit. All his awesome creations from his two ski lakes to his boat lift and the system that used lake water temperature to cool the house that didn’t keep it quite cool enough for his wife. Sorry for your loss Horton family. He’d be proud of you all continuing the tradition.
  21. @alex38 my understanding is the hardware has limited memory and it is hard to fit anything else in there. If there were meaningful improvements and it allowed better upgrades in future, I'd buy a new master module. A barefoot mode would be great (no room for it at the moment). Z box autocal would be brilliant (the accelerometer should be able to calibrate the Z box settings), auto tune of ball times, feedback about what the boat is doing (for example, PP knows what is is asking the boat to do and is measuring what it actually does, it would be great if it would tell us if the boat is not responding properly so we can see what needs fixing and why), ability to connect to a personal hot spot and send info back to PP, download updates etc. Maybe they could offer a new improved display with it too? Although us skiers do like to complain about prices, we are prepared to spend money on our sport and I think it would be great if we gave PP the confidence to invest more into us.
  22. That helps me heaps thanks. But what is the actual speed for boys 2 and 3. Why are two listed and which do they compete at?
  23. Do a phase check (it’s on of the tests in the system), check your return spring is not too short and heavy and what are the PP voltages with the engine running (boat in the water) You have an unusual problem. Sounds like PP can wind the Servo back on as it slips but not lock it still. The pull would probably be funny too. check voltages first and post them here
  24. I live on this lake - a beautiful midwinter day today. I rarely ski on to even though we have our own ramp. We travel to a club where we spend weekends and holidays an hour and a quarter away
