  1. Cracked mine when I hit the ball and slammed down on my rib cage. Give it a month and you should be good to go!
  2. I've been using a digi $30 caliper form Harbor Freight for the past 5 years. Seems to work just fine :) I measure using the tips. Measuring the distance from tail has always been the hardest measurement. Some skis are very flat and square which makes it easy while others are rounded and angled. I've always used an average when measuring DFT.
  3. I'm about to get my Flextail in about a week. I'm running a reflex front boot with carbon plate and RTP. I struggled for a season with the dual lock releasing on my off side with the powershells. How can I make sure I don't get release issues with my reflex without installing inserts? I'm very excited to get on the Flextail!
  4. @Horton I agree 100% about rebound. Maybe a Q45 will last longer since the layup is at 45 degree angle? I know that when I ski my A2, off the ball I can't hold the angle like I use to which equates into skiing narrow.
  5. Get a quality travel ski bag if you're planning to travel a lot with your ski. I know HO, GOODE and Masterline make some nice ones. If not you can just get a long box, bubble wrap and hope for the best. I once took my fin box off too.
  6. I'd say replace your ski every 2-3 seasons personally. I ski into 35 off 36 MPH consistently and I can say my A2 is finally starting to lose it's performance. I demoed another ski for a week, went back to my A2 and it just felt dead. I don't know if they lose rebound, get more stiff or if they flex more over time?
  7. Hey Ballers! It's that time and I'm trying new skis after being on a HO A2 for the past three seasons. I am a 36 MPH skier and my PB this season is 2 balls at 35 off. I am struggling with my off side on the A2. I demoed a 67 and 68 D3 Quest Q45 and felt like the 67 was good. I didn't ski on it as well as my A2 but it's a new ski that I'm not use to. I got bent forward a few times off the ball on my on-side but felt the ski was very symmetrical from side to side. I tried the 68 D3 Quest 45 and felt like it was extremely smooth and easy from wake to wake but hard to turn. I struggled to make my 28's. I am very confused about which ski to go with (67 or 68 D3 Quest) and could use some input!! Thanks! About me: 6'3" 206 lbs. Left foot forward PB 4@35off setup: 67.5 HO A2 Reflex front Binding RTP
  8. Have you or do you know anyone who skies on the pro tour or top level with HO system? I don't? Will Asher, factory HO skier uses Reflex with RPT, John Travers factory HO skier uses Fluid Motion. They may have fixed bugs, quality but the design is flawed! I know two people who have broken there ankles with them last year. Never heard of anyone injuring themselves with Reflex. Maybe b4 they had the flexion brake but that has been taken care of. If the front foot release chances are the rear Wileys will come out very easy. I ski RPT so I don't have to worry about it.
  9. If you're not going to use a RPT this is the risk you take skiing with DB. I would say the safest bet would be to go with the Reflex/Wileys setup or Fogman. The HO system is crap, sorry HO but it is. I think Fluid Motion makes a single release plate system too? Good Luck!
  10. Nice!! Thanks for the pictures. What is the brand name of this box? OB - Also say we just want to go with the Siphon and nothing else to control level, will that work? Say we need to get the lake down a foot, do we take it down a foot with the siphon and call it a day?
  11. Reflex!!!! I have tried just about every system out there, done my homework and I have come to the conclusion that Reflex is the way to go. Reflex single boot/plate in the front and either open toe or Wileys wrap in the rear. I like the carbon plate the best as it lets the ski flex naturally but if you like a little stiffer ski go with the Aluminum plate. Pros using this setup: Will Asher (Open toe in rear) Chris Parrish (Wileys in rear) Current record holder many, many others!!! http://www.reflexworld.com/hardshell-bindings.shtml http://www.wileyski.com/shopproductdetail.asp?prodID=3872&catID=34 Seen a lot of people get hurt with the HO system! Plus if you add the adapter plate the characteristics of the ski will change dramatically!! You will not like it, trust me! I have personally used the Goode system and had some bad falls due to pre-release of the Velcro. I don't recommend them also hard to try other skies as you have to apply $60 dollars of Velcro every time not to mention all the time to cut and stick it on. Hope this helps!
  12. I really like this siphon idea that OB is talking about. Never really thought about that!? How much rise over run do you need though? Not sure if I have enough drop to do this? OB - What is a drain box? Can you explain better?
  13. This is probably due to the fact that at 34 MPH you don't need the help of a wing as the ski is sufficient enough to slow the skier down to make a good turn. But at the same time wings are a stabilizer so not sure why you would want to ski without one?
  14. Okay, this is straight from one of the best skiers on the pro tour who happens to be a good friend of mine. He uses a Gillette razor with water and you can take the calluses down to almost nothing. I did this recently before going to ski in Florida and came home blister free after 8 sets. Be careful not to take them down too far. This is much better than sanding as it causes less irritation and damage to the skin. Not to mention the ladies love it! Also use a good glove with Kevlar liners!
