  1. I am tempted to start driving south right now, but as with others, the whole kids, wife, job thing precludes it. If you are still hiring when we come to Charleston to ski with you this summer, I am willing to drive the boat all day in exchange for a discount on my pulls or even just a couple of cold beers at the end of the day.
  2. I sold my '95 last year, due only to a mid-life crisis. The boat was fantastic, had a very good wake, was great to drive, and was a very solid boat. I skied behind TSC1 hulls regularly and never skied any better behind them. Once a friend bought his '08 196, I noticed a difference in wake softness. Queue mid-life crisis.
  3. You cannot slalom behind that boat. The driver never gets the boat over 10 mph because the of the contact high.
  4. God help us all if it is a wakeboard for Horton's website expansion into the realm of monkey bars.
  5. @jody seal, thanks for the updates, it will be good to learn what prop configurations passed. Is it safe to assume they were something other than the 422 given that the 422 has not been used the past few years?
  6. Not sure words can do this old commercial justice, but there is a slalom skier in it.
  7. Don't forget the In'n'Out Burger in Redding. That is a mandatory stop.
  8. Do you think Corey Feldman did his own stunts in this epic water ski adventure? imdb.com/title/tt0104837/
  9. The Neilpryde 3000 looks like a semi-dry, but MS referenced that it took a good fall to get water in it. Anyone have experience on how well it would do in traditional drysuit weather?
  10. It is a beautiful area, I have been there a number of times. Annually we head up to Grand Lake on the northeast side of the northern lower peninsula. There is an 100 year-old hunting lodge with a number of cabins, and the best part, they provide a full hot breakfast and dinner everyday. There is no cooking for the Mrs., no arguing about where to go for dinner, and no need to dress up for dinner. (www.firesideinngrandlake.com) The skiing can be very good as long as the wind is not too bad, but on the days when a northwest wind blows hard, a day off is usually in order. There is always a calm spot on the lake, you just may have to go through some rough stuff to get there. I think that is true for just about all of the lakes in N. MI.
  11. My set of these just arrived from Chuck. Nice set of gauges.
  12. How many others watch the tip of the ski come under the line as mentioned by @Razorskier1? I think it probably something I should be far more attentive to, but I am usually thinking about where I am headed. I do often catch in my peripheral vision how much of my ski is in the water through the turn, but I probably have not caught a glimpse it in relation to the line like I should be.
  13. I skied a clinic he taught this summer. He was immediately impressive as a level headed guy. I think he approached coaching like he does skiing. He kept it simple, focused on some key things I needed to work on, and now I am consistently running 6 buoys more than before the clinic.
  14. @davemac, I ordered through Barefoot Central over the phone. I had the choice between back or front & back for the extra padding. The cost was an extra $25. Nice pic by the way.
  15. Used my new Eagle front zip with extra flotation in both the chest and back over the weekend after using a USCG O'Neill for a number of years. It floated me very well and I took two good falls and felt fine. I did not have the full test by slamming my face and chest into the wake. If I do, I'll let you know how it works out.
  16. @Ed Johnson, does the 5.7L have the 1868 prop on it? I would be curious about the results of a side-by-side comparison with the 422 on the 5.7L or both boats.

Periodic doses of diluted uric acid applied while the boat is in the water can help maintain the like-new luster of the prop and rudder. It can be delivered from in the water or even above the water from the swim platform. Applying while the boat is on the trailer is generally frowned upon.
  18. Thought of both of those solutions, assuming the problem is material enough to impact the way the ski rides. Sanding would probably be fine, unless there happens to be a very thin spot, but with caution...
  19. I picked up a Jr. Siege for my son who needs something more than the Jr. Vortex combo that was great for learning to get up on one. The Siege arrived yesterday and while one running edge is smooth like any other well made ski, the other edge is noticeably rough for almost the entire length of the ski, almost as if it received too thin of a coating of the outside layer or was pulled from the mold too quickly. Just curious if anyone thinks it will matter. The ski was not a ordered as a blem.
  20. Was this it? http://www.schnitzskis.com/zerooff.html
  21. Don't get me wrong, I love my S1, I am skiing very well on it, and I have no intentions of getting rid of it. My thought is that LaPoint and the rest of the team knew they could do better, but that is a universal truth for everything, and must have concluded that the S1 was not the best foundation on which to build. BTW, great site.
  22. I think the Co-X lineage of the S2 is very telling of the design team's ultimate conclusion on the S1.
  23. It took some adjustment for me to like the S1. I could not ski on it the first time out. After a trip with some open water skiing I tweaked the fin and it helped considerably. I recently moved the bindings forward slightly and now it is skiing even better. In the spirit of full disclosure, I was previously riding a 9100 I could not bear to part with.
  24. It appears that the S2 has become highly regarded. Has anyone that has skied both the S1 and S2 found the S2 to be a dramatic improvement over the S1? I have been on an S1 for the past couple of years and love it, but can always justify an upgrade if there is a payoff in results.
