  1. Anyone have a good app to slow down video for analysis for iphone or ipad? Ideally I think I'd like to record with iphone or ipad and watch in slow motion on ipad or even Apple TV if possible.
  2. Quantum rear toe plate will fit inserts in the Graviton.
  3. @bruce55. As a shoulder specialist, I second marco's comments. He's spot on. Don't try to advance beyond your surgeon's recommendations. The strength of the repaired tissues comes from your body's healing. The surgery just places things in the right spot, but soft tissue healing to bone generally requires 3-4 months. Total healing time may be longer. If you stress the repair before healing, it can fail. Don't go too slow either or the shoulder can get stiff. You need just the right balance. Best of luck!
  4. For the record, I had a similar injury with my hand through the handle a few years ago. I was very lucky and recovered after about 6 weeks. I always use a handle guard now.
  5. @bruce55 - Sorry to hear about your injury. You referenced Dr. Andrews and your desire to see him. I did a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship with him about 10 yrs. ago. You should be able to call his office for an appointment. If he is too busy, you should try to get an appointment with either Dr. Lyle Cain or Dr. Jeff Dugas, both of whom are shoulder specialists and partners with Dr. Andrews. I would let any of them take care of me or my family. Good luck with your recovery.
  6. They have a lot of them at Nationals this week if you know anyone who lives near you that is here.
  7. 1st nationals for me and family. Excited that all 5 of us (me, wife and 3 sons - boys 1 and 2) qualified. Looking forward to the experience.
  8. My son is a level 8 tricker, level 7 slalomer, and beginning jumper in boys 2. If he places 5th in overall at Regionals, can he ski all 3 events at Nationals?
  9. Anyone willing to share some advice on provisions for a joint ownership lake agreement? I am planning to purchase a lake with two other people. We will likely meet with a real estate attny to hash out the details of an LLC, but are starting from ground zero. Thanks.
  10. Thanks to everyone who responded. I finally chose to use two 6 inch strips of 400 on each side of the plate, one at the front and one at the back. The rest of the plate and ski are covered with clear 250. I have not prereleased since, and I appropriately released once. This seems to work well for me. I really like the feel of the Powershells and am glad it is working for me now. I would reiterate Klindy's comment to remove the dual lock under the nuts. Also, I have found that a wooden dowel and rubber mallet are useful to fully engage the 250 and 400. In response to clemsondave, the prerelease issues happened at varied times. Once I was too far on the tail, but the other times I felt like I was in a good position.
  11. In response to the comment above about Dave's Pond in Edinboro, it is a great place to ski. However, one of the islands was unfortunately placed in the wrong location when the lake was dug. As a result, only one island is used. Don't use satellite photos of Dave's to guide you. You are better off looking at Santan above which looks ideal to me. I ski routinely at a different site with turn islands on both ends. They are rocked around the perimeter and don't require too much maintenance. I would never build a lake from scratch without appropriately placed islands on both sides.
  12. Thanks for the ideas. My older child (who is 10 yo) didn't like the 61" O'Brien, but I tried my 8 yo on it and it seems to work for him. I previously tried the 8 yo on a used 62" 9900 but it seemed too long and fast for him. He controls the 61" better. I guess it's possible that a different brand of longer ski would work well too. It seems like the options are really limited for the young course skiers.
  13. You may want to consider an evaluation by a physiatrist. A physiatrist is a physician who often specializes in the nonoperative treatment of neck and back problems. They are also known as rehab docs, or physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists. They can help to give you a proper diagnosis, prescribe appropriate medications if needed, order therapy, and occasionally perform injections. They can also help treat any associated depression symptoms or refer you if needed. Good luck.
  14. My 6 year old weighs 50 lbs and is running the course at 21 mph on an O'Brien Jr. Amigo. My 8 year old weighs 60 lbs and is nearly running the course at 25 mph - he is also on a Jr. Amigo. I am trying to decide on a new junior ski, possibly 59-61" for my 6 and 8 year old. We have a 61" O'Brien Mapple Siege, but it seems very narrow and didn't seem stable when my older child used it. I am hoping for a quality junior ski that is competitive yet forgiving/stable. Any ideas for them?
  15. Same question to jayski: Have you ever released with that setup?
  16. Thanks for all the input everyone. The blind nuts on the bottom of the plate are flush and don't seem to be preventing the interlock from connecting - however, it's impossible to see the central interlock. I can only see that it connects around the perimeter of the plate. I impacted the central area through the boots and assume that it connected. Boody, have you ever released with the strip of 400 the length of the plate? Anyone else using 400 still getting appropriate releases with more than 3 inches?
  17. I recently switched to Goode Powershells but have had problems with prereleasing with the 3M 250 interlock that came on the ski. I actually ruptured my eardrum in a fall yesterday. I like the Powershells and would prefer to keep them. I know many people have used some 400 on the plate, but I am getting different recommendations regarding the amount of 400 to use and where to place it. I was recently told that 3 inches of 400 on the front of the plate on each side (with 250 still on the ski) should prevent prereleasing. I was told that any more than that would prevent releasing entirely. I was wondering if anyone with experience could provide some input - how much 400 and where on the plate to put it?. It seems to me that the back of the plate would release first, and I am skeptical of placing the 400 only on the front of the plate. Also, 3 inches seems like such a small amount. I don't want to prerelease and get injured again, but obviously would prefer to release in an appropriate fall. I weigh 165 lbs. Thanks!
