  1. Just a quick update. It looks like lots of interest on this topic! I have a summer under my belt with my master line pro locs with dowel. It took a lot of getting used to but I do like them. Ski buds like to make fun of how long it takes to get into them. 4 Velcro straps per glove. Once their on their money. Held up good. I'm an average 3 day a week swerver and I think they have some life left In Them for next year. I do plan to pick up a non dowel glove over the winter. I will study this thread close and pick something up. One of the first responders had a great tip to sand the strap down a bit to keep the strap from being too slippery, great tip. Only drawback was for anything other than skiing they suck. Getting into the boat... Swimming... Life jacket off... Any new gloves for 2013/2014 worth noting???
  2. Agreed. A few too many greenbacks for a weekend warrior! I'll tweak what I have for awhile.
  3. I have recently switched to the kx "-" setting and I think it did help a little. I do have crew and skier weight correct. I am intrigued at iff's comments around stargazer and Xbox. Sounds expensive. If I can't figure it out maybe that is my only option.
  4. No switch. Thx again. It does ask me in The system start up whether I have a 6.1 or 8.4 engine. I don't.
  5. I'm running pp classic. No stargazer. I added another spring. I really don't think it's doing anything but I thought I would give it a try. Waternut's description is perfect! I prefer the soft turn. Mine slams me out of the turn. I've tried to watch servo but it is tough to do safetly. It looked like the speed it gave slack was not that fast. I will try to get times next time I'm out. Anybody monkey with nn and kd settings? Manual says they relate to trick mode. Another thread mentioned corrosion on the paddle wheel cable?
  6. Oh yeah. I am running magnets. And pp says I have the latest updates avail for my system
  7. Thx for quick responses. It is interesting that final throttle position is important. I usually do run it 3/4 throttle. How do I know the tach settings are inverted? I have not seen that option. I have talked to pp guys a lot already. They have got me to where I am today. It still feels different than the other boats I ski. Especially the 2001 mc with essentially the same motor and 1 generation older pp. it isn't just me either. Ski buds agree there is something different.
  8. I have a 2003 lxi w 340 hp indmar and 6.5n perfect pass that I'm trying to dial in. I'm an intermediate skier. I have a delimma right now because I can't seem to get my pp setup to my liking. The pull behind my lxi is a bit different than two othe nautiques and a mc. My boat seems to take till the 3rd boat gate to settle into speed. I think may be more about a short approach and my driver over accelerating into the course- wife. The other issue is that it seems to pull harder all the way through my turns. Behind the other boats I will complete my turn, get into the stacked position and the boat accelerates. Mine pulls the whole time making it tough to get into the stacked position before the boat accelerates. I've done the linkage and servo tests- ok. I added a spring to the throttle just to be safe. I also turned the kx setting to "-". That seemed to help a bit. If anyone else has a similar setup I would be interested in what rpm they are running at 34. I run 3285. 36 is 3490. I get good times but was wondering if I have a different pitch prop than the other boats causing a slight different accel. Any other ideas?
  9. I am looking to set up a permanent submersible course and am looking for a used stainless steel mainline. Let me know.
  10. Hmmm. Would it be a huge mistake to buy a stainless mainline and use my portable PVC? Thanks for all the advice.
  11. I recently picked up a set of used accusink submarines and am strategizing for next year. I know this is an outdated system but it sounds like people overall have had decent luck with the systems. Any chance I can learn from past owners what the best way to set it up would be? I would be putting it in a shallow lake in Minnesota. Questions that come to mind are? -anchors or PVC and mainline? I possible could lay it out on the ice and drill/sink anchors with balls 2.5' down? -brand and diameter of hose? -best hose clamps and or T fittings? Brand? Buy where? -Air only or 1/2 filled water bouys? -Best 12V or 120V compressor? -Tricks or tips? -Does anyone have an install guide? Any help would be appreciated.
  12. Interesting thoughts on west coast slalom. That was the DVD I was thinking about. Sound like its worth the view. I too like the fluidmotion vids but the guy is always changing or tweaking his gear. I got the impression I need to tweak myself quite a bit before I start tweaking my gear. Thanks for the response.
  13. There are a number of DVD's out there for instructional course skiing. Please post your favorite DVD and why. I am a beginner course skier (pb 4 @ 34' off, 34mph) looking to improve my technique. Plus a good video to throw in during the off season will hopefully help me get through the winter. I'm already missing it and the lakes haven't froze up yet! I think I'm in for a long winter...
  14. They are going to take some getting used to but I think I like them. I found out quickly that I must finger grip the handle often. That doesn't work with these gloves.
  15. I just ordered a set of prolocks. I would like to give the strap system a try. Ple I really do like my curve's. Thanks for feedback!
  16. ok I would like to preface this next video. It isn't the greatest film but I said I would post something in the next couple of days so here you go. I don't want you guys to think that you are wasting your time on me. I think this sport is a lot like golf once you start playing with stuff everything goes. I was not able to get access to our lake course so it is free skiing again. I do like the "leverage" advise. Putting weight on that front foot and trying to drive that outward felt pretty good. You can't really tell in the video but I did feel more comfortable on my on side vs offside doing this. Holding onto the handle later had mixed results. I seemed to get more slack by trying to stay in the leverage position until just before the turn. I really won't see any of the fruits until I get myself in to the course again. Maybe tomorrow. It may be a few more days until I post again. I had a brain lapse after skiing and did some footing (water was just too nice to resist). You know the rest of the story, lets just say that now I remember why I'm a swerver not a footer. Thanks again for all the advice. I will keep working on it.
  17. I thought I would host a poll. Post your favorite gloves. I have been sporting the older master line double Velcro precurved gloves. They don't have the nylon strap. Im on my 3rd set. They have been decent gloves but I am looking for other options. I still get blisters if I'm hitting it hard. Any recommendations?
  18. That sounds like an awesome set up! Im in the White bear lake area. Where should your hardest pull be?
  19. Awesome response! Thank you so much. I will repost a video in the next couple of days with some fine tuning of my technique. The lake is in MN. A metro lake. It was an awesome evening. I will be focussing in on getting my weight over my ski more and holding on with both hands longer. I've learned that any pulling I do after crossing the wakes results in slack. I am interpreting the feedback as get into that turning edge earlier, hold that position longer while being balanced over my ski, and don't release that hand until just prior to the bouy. I do sometimes have a hard time getting that offside edge. Sorry I don't know how to zoom in with my gopro. Thanks again!
  20. Hey I am just starting to click this year with my 2008 prophecy and am looking for some advice. I am stuck at 28' off. I am skiing 34 mph, on a 65" prophecy, with stock fin settings. I am thinking about starting to dabble with the fin, but am a little reluctant after reading a number of posts recommending to leave it alone. I will post a video of me free skiing tonight but will follow that up shortly with some more footage in the near future. For all you short liners out there I am looking for some advise. I am running out of summer and want to conquer before the snow flies. Thanks guys. Ball of Spray Newbie.
