  1. Collegiate skiing is 1 round 3 event, it only makes sense to ski all three and if you ski all three you might as well practice all three.
  2. I any of these ideas so far, what would happen to the go pro in the event of a big slack hit? Or in one of those situations where the skier gets load locked and the handle ends up in the drivers lap? I feel like that kind of shock can't be good for any camera.
  3. I've skied in the rain at 34 and 36 and I can say that it really hurts. It makes it harder to focus but if you can focus then you can still ski well, it just feels like you're running at an army of paintballers.
  4. if you set up a rail/track on the boat cover that you could hook the camera into, then took a rope and hooked the camera to the ski rope then the skiers side to side motion would pull the camera side to side following the skier, the track would have to match the curve of the skiers path nearly perfectly but it would work if you could manage the set-up.
  5. There won't be anywhere skiable in MN until early April on a warm year.
  6. If I was 10 years older in otherewords if I wasn't in college and if I had any money. (not saying I want that next decade to roll around anytime soon though)
  7. I would absolutely use that stuff on gloves for cold water skiing because the hands get to cold to go on really quick. Although gloves get some pretty good friction applied to them so I'm not sure how long a coating would last, you might need to treat them several times a season.
  8. There making MORE options for ZO? Nine settings isn't enough? What are they adding/changing?
  9. I think Mapple helped with the O'brien Sixam 1.0 and the Elite (and maybe others i don't know about), and I don't know about Radar.
  10. I'm on a Razor 68A right since last August and considering the first time on the ski I pb'd by 4 buoys I don't think I'll be switching skis any time soon.
  11. I'm trying my best to cut anothe 5 by the time I'm skiing again, when I was lifting heavy and putting up those heavy singles from earlier in this thread I weighed about 192 and now I'm down to 187 due to running a mile 5 days a week, eating less, and doing reps at lower weight when I'm lifting with the exception of my heavy bench press day.
  12. Just put my whole $2 into the pool, I'm assuming there isn't a webcast for this is there?
  13. most man made ski lakes are about 8-10ft in the middle and probably 6-8 at the buoy depending on how long the lake has been there and the sedement wash in. Anything that I can ski on is fine by me, I think what's more important than depth is temperature and how clean the water is. Warm water tends to feel slower than cold water and thicker sedement rich water feels slower than clean clear water, I don't know why but if you go down to Florida where the water is a little thicker and a lot warmer it feels a lot slower than in Minnesota where the water tends to be colder and clearer.
  14. @sunperch, I don't think anyone is saying that this sport doesn't drain a paycheck but fo many college age skiers it's tournament fees and travel or rent, food, and textbooks and one of those is more necessary than the other.
  15. I agree with @MattP, it would be unfair to U.S. citizens if someone who isn't could metal or place at U.S. nationals.
  16. Minnesota is definitely better than Canada, we get summer sooner which means a longer ski season.
  17. @6balls has the right idea, both of us ended up on the razor A flex after riding my Dad's for a few sets.
  18. I also recently got on to a Razor in the last few months of last season and my first set I ran a pb by 4 buoys (1@35 off) and ran 32 off 4 more times over the course of the season. I don't know if it's the best ski out there or if anyone can ski on it but I definitely like it and fischer and Razor do seem to last 3+ years.
  19. So would it be an acceptable alternative to a ski specifically designed for 35 off if the major ski companies were to put out a chart with what they believe to be the optimal settings for short line vs. 15 off and 55K vs. 58K? Since we all ski a little differently it wouldn't be perfect but it might help give us a place to start if we find that the factory settings aren't quite working for us. I know that the past couple of years something like this has come out for Razor skis, it's just recommended short line settings but it's a similar idea. Of course some skis are going to be easier to tune than others, I'm personally curious about the new good which for a while was only in two sizes. If you remove the length variable to a constant I would think that changes in fin and binding settings would be even more touchy to compensate.
  20. Nope, you can ski whatever events you want and skip the ones you don't like. It might be a two round 3 event but I'm not sure off the top of my head.
  21. Mastercraft is bad for slalom at slow speeds with the wake, that being said it's a favorite for trick skiers for that same reason.
  22. Like I said, when I'm in Minnesota over my summer break I ski behind a 2005 197 Mastercraft and when I'm at school our team uses a 2009 197 Mastercraft. I ski a little behind a Malibu TXI and the only time I see a Natique is in tournaments. I have to agree that any tournament ski boat gives a good pull if a good driver is at the wheel.
  23. Both speed and rope length definitely have an effect on the rythm of the course and what you need from your ski. I think the solution to that is in the fin and binding settings, there are so many setting combinations that I find it hard to believe that any "high performance" ski can't be tuned to ski well at any speed or rope length.
  24. I'm not sure how much I actually "like" this since I ski behind and drive mastercraft more often than not but it's always fun to rip on one of the boat companies for no reason.
  25. Just checked with the team president and the alumni tournament (also know as the summer shakedown) is going to be June 29th and 30th at the Eagle Lake site in Waterloo, IA
