  1. At about your level and at exactly your weight I ride a 44” D3 rubber edge and it is very easy to ride
  2. Yeah, if you’re looking for private water on campus you’re dreaming as far as Midwest college teams are concerned. Maybe possible to do something with the Iowa river I’m iowa city but that things so gross the skiers wouldn’t want to get in
  3. I'd have to agree, if hitting the buoy causes the yard sale then there was either major displacement of the buoy by smacking the snot out of it or your buoys are hard as a rock if they didn't displace from 150-200lbs hitting them at 40mph. It is certainly possible to yard sale at the ball without hitting the buoy though if you just came off the wake like a pile of flaming garbage but managed to get out side the ball before the tip of your ski pulled a submarine on you although that might break some "skiing position" rule
  4. 2 of the 50llb bags gets the job done fine. You can even get by with just 1. I'm 180 and with 1 50lb bag the listing isn't bad at 34mph in both the new and previous model Malibu hulls. If you weigh more or drive at slower speeds then t he second bag might be more of a necessity.
  5. I won't argue that the optics are a little odd but only because I can't afford a new ski every year and no one is knocking on my door offering me one. At the level sponsored skiers compete at, and considering the idea of income independence much less wealth accumulation from skiing alone is comical, I wouldn't blame any of them from switching ski partners if they thought they could maximize their performance. If there was enough money in this sport that a "pro" skier could make a real living that would change the math a little.
  6. @Horton, as far as imaging/marketing I think that will vary depending on who the target is. You wouldn't use the same channels and imagery when aiming at the collegiate skier who wants to keep skiing post grad as you would for the middle aged person looking to get back on a ski after 20 years. Just something to think about down the line as far as how to utilize the tool you are trying to build once it's built. I won't know for a few more months still but I might be able to throw my name in as an ambassador later in the year when my schedule frees up.
  7. Sandals are shoes They should not be worn with socks They are not above the “business casual” line sadly No shoes of any kind in the boat Reefs have no arch support but bottle opener is clutch Of the questionable health decisions I make, the shit I step in with my reefs isn’t even top 10 At lake Frameswitch “shit” is literal and produced by the cows
  8. Short of a rule allowing the boat to zig zag around the buoys and all you have to do is stand behind it, I think that may be a pipe dream @mwetskier ;) A good driver and some coaching will get you those 2 rope lengths a lot faster than a new boat will
  9. Wake Convenience of dealer/certified mechanic Tracking If I buy a boat, it is first a foremost a ski boat, it needs to be able to give me a tournament pull or I'm not interested. That means the wakes and the tracking need to be something I can work with. Not saying current model but within the last decade. I'm not a mechanic so having the dealer/mechanic in a convenient location so I'm not off the water for weeks at the time is of significant value.
  10. I have a spare 67 inch mapple 6.0
  11. Hi Kelvin, do you have approximate start times? It's just a Saturday/Sunday tournament right?
  12. Yeah, I second the idea that Mother's day weekend was a poor choice. The combination of hurting viewership and getting viewers in trouble is dangerous to say the least
  13. If you're on a modern ski and think it's a piece of junk then your settings are wrong and or you are skiing it wrong. They are all just built to well with too much math going in to them anymore. Now on the wrong length ski on someone else's settings, that's a different story.
  14. I would love to hit a 3rd one of these but that location is in the kingdom of Far Far Away. If winter ever leaves this frozen tundra and I am skiing well it's a possibility
  15. you know, it's possible that the combination of those factors could be playing against you just a little ;)
  16. Both of those look great, the bottom one might be a better choice though. That Hull 3 piece wraps around the back and is easy to get knicked with ski so having that be white or at least non-metal flake is a good idea in my book. White won't show it, red and blue are the easiest gel coats to repair well, metal flake is impossible to repair to the extent that if you know where the scratch was you'll be able to see the repair.
  17. As a point of curiosity, what diameter handle are you using? Bit of a Goldylocks situation where to small or large diameter can both lead to a person over gripping the handle and pulling in a little rather than keeping the arms straight. If you are holding the handle down in your palms try letting it out into your fingers, it's a stronger grip with less effort and less strain on the joints so that could help.
  18. Be sure to keep your arms straight when you're pulling. Whenever I start having elbow pain I double check that I'm letting my arms out in the pull and it usually get better in a couple of days.
  19. Throw a big yellow "S" on there somewhere and I can see it... as far as my old man, if superman thinks they're on level footing then he's got another thing coming! Not to mention Lois Lane can't hold a candle to my Mom
  20. If you're set on the baby blue there are some cool things you can do mixing it with the viper red and black
  21. Something about light blue/dark blue is mixing exceptionally poorly. Give Buford a crack at the color designer ;)
  22. Definitely well crafted, I'm still not a huge fan of the regional requirement but I guess it's the price we must pay. As a point of curiosity, I just moved from Austin, TX to Minneapolis, MN, which regionals do I need to go to? the answer will have significant influence on my plans.
  23. The big boats can hold a teenager and 10 of his friends and pull sports that are easy to pick up. Wakesurfing is so close to the boat you can talk to the person doing it. Waterskiing/footing have smaller boats, are higher skill, and you want few people in the boat for wake reasons. The pigs are simply better party barges. Not to mention the average ski walks into the dealer and doesn’t know what they want but all the dealer has on the floor are pigs so it’s easy to sell one to them. You don’t always even get to see the slalom boats anymore.
  24. Mechanically I have to imagine you could get something that just clears the bar in terms of performance at that price point but there is no boat company on earth that would do it, the economics don't make sense unless Wal-Mart decided to get into ski boat production. Lets face it, if I have the capacity (through any mix of cash and financing) to get my hands on a 35-40K boat, and have the option of a no-name-bare-bones or a pick your age big 3 off of ski-it-again I can tell you where I'm spending my money every single time.
