  1. @WIRiverRat not to mention a Wisconsin has something like 10,000 lakes and 7 collegiate waterski teams. Across the board access and visibility are easier to come by so you see more people joining the party.
  2. As I have said in similar discussions for years, advancing the sport means making it reasonably affordable and realistic for collegiate skiers to keep skiing post grad. They’re mostly 3-event skiers, they enjoy it, and it is the fastest growing segment of USA waterski but has very little flow through to post collegiate events because ince you aren’t going in on everything with 20 other people they are priced out of the sport and can’t find access to water.
  3. RTP is really easy, I don't want any piece of the rest of those though. Sounds like a job for @MattP
  4. But what effect does it have on my spray around the ball?
  5. Depending on the state and the lake itself you can get a permit to leave a portable course in for the season, tends to work fine but you need to replace the floats in the arms every few years or they start to bow which narrows your course. Permanent course is a lot of upkeep on a public site since buoys WILL be cut by jet skis, tubes, etc and having to dive to find your buoy lines back is a lot more work than going to the driver buoy and following the arm out to the end to clip a new buoy on.
  6. I'm still skiing, took two sets yesterday morning and was into 35 on them both. The joy of a dry suit and a state that doesn't freeze over
  7. @Horton, hard to believe? We both know that’s not quite true ;)
  8. Hi Ballers, I just got the news that the surgery is finishing up and from what I have been told it seems that the "something" was radiation related necrotic tissue and not a new tumor. In other words, drinks all around Since the big guy is in recovery I'll try to keep y'all posted best I can until he's up and running again
  9. The difference is if I have funky off side 1,3,5 I tend to break forward and have more than enough power to get my hips back under me, if I have a funky on side 2,4 I fall out the back of the ski and I’m in the water. When I ski a buoy correctly 2,4 turn sharper and keep moving better than 1,3,5 but if something goes wrong I ski away from my typical off side mistake while my typical on side mistake usually puts me in the water
  10. My onside turns sharper but my offside is more consistent.
  11. You are proof that life is infinitely inventive in finding ways to knock you down and epically unsuccessful in finding a way to keep you there. Keep getting back up big man, see you soon
  12. "your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available" Gotta love when work has such out of date software that you can't watch youtube
  13. You are likely overshooting on price by a little bit and the needed cosmetic work is probably scaring a few people away. If you are willing to replace the skins and do some exterior work over the winter months you might find more bites in the spring.
  14. Definitely more impressed by the teams with little to no funding that still manage to put up Nationals quality teams year after year, especially in the Midwest where you have to be in the top 6 of 40 teams to guarantee your spot. I followed UT to regionals this weekend and the collegiate scene certainly has it right with entire teams standing up and cheering every skier of theirs who touches the water. UT even cheered for me in the officials tournament even though my scores don't mean anything for their team placement. The more of that we can bring into post collegiate skiing the better off we will be.
  15. Go easy, certainly not easy to live stream these things and I'd bet it's volunteer work even if the individuals expenses are covered. Looks like it is down at the moment so maybe it will come back a little smoother.
  16. At your level a senate would be fine but you may also find your money is better spend on coaching than equipment. Better technique will get you moving down the line much sooner than a new ski
  17. Does anyone know if there will be a webcast for the Malibu Open this weekend?
  18. Definitely among my favorite sites, lookimg forward to some lights out skiing
  19. The 6.0 is where it's at. That thing survived three seasons with my dad and is finishing off it's third with me and still rips great.
  20. I would agree, if 70 is too cold then I have spent the majority of my life skiing in something that is below too cold. I've skied with rolly water and visually it can definitely screw with your head as you come into a buoy but it's just one of many things we have to deal with in this sport. I would love it if we could ski on endless glass but that just isn't the nature of the sport.
  21. Conditions can certainly impact the end result and it is unfortunate if you have highly variable conditions but at the end of the day you need to expect that. When you register for a tournament you do so understanding that this is an outdoor sport and mother nature will do what she will. If you can't come to play regardless of conditions then you yield advantage to the rest of the field. You always prefer glass but you need to be prepared to throw down in a 20mph wind while it's snowing and the sun is in your eyes.
  22. Sure thing, I should be out of work at a reasonable time and can come over to help with whatever is left to do... and will gladly take you up on that pull, thanks
  23. @Mad11, let me know if you need any help with set up this week, happy to come down and lend a hand.
