  1. @ntx - states right in the owners manual to store boat that way. I know I wondered about it too but I am not the only SN owner at our site that stores my boat like this. I even questioned the other SN owner about this as I am new to the community and he said same thing.
  2. My boat hangs from hooks on the bow and aft. Simple hook up, lift, close boat house door and walk out! Everything is out of water when we get back and dry! Ready to go when we hit the switch to lower it and go!
  3. I know it shouldn't be this way and I need to work on that. It's my first go at getting a chance to ski buoys all the time now that our boat is on a private ski lake but I think I am getting too caught up in just WANTING to rip around orange buoys that I forget what is important to do in order to get around them buoys properly! But I'm sure in time I will do what is right over what my mind wants me to rush into doing? All that said I'm sure having fun when I'm not hurting myself...........back to the bindings thread! LOL
  4. Stratas ordered yesterday along with a Sequense plate. Hope to have everything in mailbox by the weekend! Oh ya new rope too! :)
  5. My name is Rod Long (yes it REALLY is!!) I'm 47 years old and my wife and I along with our 15 year old daughter just reloacated from Canada south to a private ski community about 20 mins south of Houston where we are about to start construction on our new home. Started skiing as a teen and took about 20 years off to work and grow up. I currently work for an oil field supply company in Houston. Got back into waterskiing about 6 years ago. Free open water skier until I spent a few days getting some pointers from Trent Findlayson last winter. He got me hooked and when we were able to move south a waterski lake became our only choice. Wife drives doesn't ski at all but she enjoys being on the water and lets me enjoy my passion. We have wonderful people in at our ski lakes and community who have been exceptionally great to us! Haven't skied for almost a month due to injury but hope to be back at it this weekend. 2004 SN 196LE w/ PP Stargazer, 66" HO A2 with Approach bindings. Love this site Horton THANKS!!!!!
  6. I hurt my left ankle. I am a LFF skier and have hurt the same ankle in the past. (6 years ago) Up until this latest injury which was suffered in an onside OTF crash I used to pull the strings on my bindings TIGHT. After some chatting with a pro rider I am going to re look at how I tighten my bindings. I also think I am going to look into a binding change. I haven't skied for over 3 weeks and I hope to at least get back on my ski this weekend when I get home from WV. My ankle will be heavily taped I know that as I learned how to do that 6 years ago as well so I could get back skiing! The S*IT we do to keep enjoying the fun we have! :)
  7. As a relocated Canadian I plan on skiing year round. Good thing I have Jim as my neighbor! Someone needs to drive the boat! :)
  8. As a relocated Canadian who skied and took some lessons with Trent over the winter last year.........I will be skiing year round now! One must love living in the south. :)
  9. The Outback used to be Moomba's answer to the big three and marketed as the middle class working mans boat. Problem is they just keep falling farther and farther behind with it. We used to own a nice 06 Outback. And if you're an open water skier that wants a decent wake then by all means it's a good DD boat for you. Moomba needs to add PP or ZO to the boats to even think they can compete. They don't, so you must and with that you must consider the cost of the upgrade. I hope the Gecko does go above and beyond and get into the mix as not everyone can afford what some of these new boats are worth or can pay the asking price for them. Hell even promo boats aren't cheap!!!!!
  10. Thanks for the help guys. Will hopefully get a chance to look at it late this week.
  11. I have a 2005 SN 196LE and yesterday had an alarm go off constantly in my tach. Wife was driving nothing out of the ordinary. When I climbed in the boat I thought it was my Perfect Pass going off but noticed the led light was constant red in bottom of the speedo and none of my gauges were working. ie: oil pressure, temp, etc. I looked but couldn't find anything in my manual about the alarm or what might be causing it plus all my dash gauges to not be working? I'm a fair drive from any Nautique dealer and was wondering if anyone else on here has experienced this issue or if anyone might have an idea as to why? I first noticed the oil presssure gauge wasn't working so right away checked oil level in boat and it's perfect and right where it should be? Any help is greatly appreciated!
  12. Finally getting to live my dream as we bought a lot in a ski community! Hope to be turning dirt on the new home build late Sept or early Oct. :)
  13. I'm not good enough yet? Sure hope to be one day? :) Until that day............I can just keep skiing and LOVE IT! :)
  14. Looking good! True testament of PEOPLE PULLING TOGETHER! Everyone down there should be proud! (I know you are) You guys will put on amazing tournaments and continue to promte our great sport!
  15. I left a job and career for a woman many years ago. HUGE mistake!!!!! She now has her career and 3/4 of everything we owned together and a new husband. Took me many years to recover. But I did and realize what real hindsight is? You have worked for yours, let her work for hers, and work at it when you both have careers.
  16. @Horton and @ShaneH and @Horton - you guys do a GREAT job with this site! Cograts and thanks go out to all 3 of you for your efforts!
  17. My wife drives for me and I learned a long time ago to bite my lip because my daughter wasn't old enough to learn how to drive the boat! :) That will all change this year too. Just purchased an HO Odyssey Comp Freeride with Venom binding and rear toe plate for my daughter yesterday. 63" with ski bag for under $150.00. This is going to be a great ski for her to get going on and be proud of. at 5'2" and all of 100 pounds soaking wet I'm looking forward to seeing her do good things on it. And she will get to learn ho wto drive our new to us Nautique 196LE this year with dad on the rope behind the boat! I'm thinking summer is going to be fun..............whnever it gets here??? LOL @webbdawg99 - congrats on the purchase for your wife and I hope you guys have as much fun on the water as we do? PS - my wife doesn't ski at all. Just drives and sun tans! :)
  18. I ski with HO Approach bindings. Double boots both front and rear and not a toe plate. The first year I bought the ski an OTF and roll cost me an injury to my front foot & ankle because my rear foot came out of the back binding from not being set up as secure as the front one. I ended up rolling and of course the ski didn't and I tore ligaments and sprained it terribly. Didn't ski for 6 weeks. When I went back I was scared of further injury so learned how to tape my ankle in a way that it wouldn't turn nor rotate. I now ski with both bindings tight so I will not, nor can not come out of the ski. I think one has to decide what they want? Stay in or have both come off during a crash? If you are skiing with only a front binding and rear toe plate my suggestion might be to keep it loose enough that you do come out of it when you crash to avoid the type of injury I had a few years ago.
  19. I would think maybe @horton could address that issue?
  20. LOL @thager - it almost sounds like you are hiding something from us? :) I understand what you're saying. However even just where you're from is mostly what I am after? I don't post my real name on here nor do I give up a whole ton of personal information other than ski, boat, and location. Which in reality is all I was really trying to get at in the first place. Oh and I have Googled my name..........and I can't find anything on myself so all the others with the same name might send out a bad reputation for me but I'm ok with that as I know who I am and what I stand for? :)
  21. There sure is a whole lot of mamebers on this site with a ton of great knowledge and a willingness to help out hacks like me and others who go deep into -35. As a reader of this page; almost daily at some point I might add, I often find myself clicking on someones name to see who they are and where they are from, and where they ski? From my perspective it would sure be nice if a whole lot more of the members here took a couple minutes and filled out their profiles. The ski community is a great one and I personally travel a fair amount. I know if any of you were in my area and happened to ant to go for a tug I'd be more than willing to yank you down the lake if I'm home and available?............... and I'm sure everyone of you would offer the same in return. Only nobody knows who you are or where you're from other than your screen name. Just a thought I'm tossing out to everyone...................hope I get to learn a little more about the memebers here? :)
  22. HO System 8 was marketed as a ski that's was good for less than desireable conditions. I have to say it worked well in those conditions. I owned one and enjoyed the ride. I moved to an HO A2 and the ride is definitely different! System 8 was a good ski too.
  23. I have been away for awhile but Alberta Canada is getting pounded with rain, flooding, and natural disasters. No idea how Predator Bay in Calgary is doing? The downtown core is flooded and police have it closed off. No one in or out! With he rivers being as high as they are there I hope our community didn't lose a world class ski site. Anyone from Calgary that can offer an update?
