  1. On Honeoye I would recommend hooking up with Dave Boyers, not a professional coach but if you are just starting out course skiing you can learn a lot from him, he has a portable course now as they lost the permit for the permanent course a couple of years back (bummer).

Also you are welcome to ski with our group on Conesus Lake, we set a portable course most weekend mornings at sunrise.

Another option you may want to consider is joining Aqua Sno (Irondequoit Bay Ski Club)

    PM me anytime

  2. GREAT thread! Especially the part about "middle hole" for the front boot, I submit to you there are ALOT of skis out there with the front boot off spec. Even if beginners don't have calipers or a desire to check/ adjust their fin EVERYONE has a tape measure and can get their front boot mounted to spec.
  3. @Eddie_Roberts_Jr are there any plans to offer a larger size vapor boot? I just purchased my second pair of vectors last year (which I love) but had wanted to upgrade to the vapors only my feet are size 15 and I had to stay with the open toe. I think the current size maxxes out at 12-13, of course my ski buddies told me to just cut the toe off the vapor boot! ;)
  4. @rodltg2 I was in your position last year and posted here for advice (you can search for "boat hoist recommendation" and find the thread....I would have provided a link but don't know how to do short links and am afraid of @horton's wrath ;) ) anyway i got a lot of great feedback and ended up with a Sunstream hydraulic cantilever lift and couldn't be happier (pretty much the same thing as the Basta unit). I found it used with only a couple of seasons of use on it.

I was intrigued by the idea of the cantilever style as when they are in the up position all the load is on the structure and they are not reliant upon cables which can wear and have to be replaced periodically.

If you are looking for a less costly option I would still recommend a manual cantilever style like the Hewitt unit (or whatever is available in your area)

One caveat about the cantilever style is its fixed range of motion and if your lake level fluctuates greatly you may be better served by a vertical style lift.

My $.02, I hope this helps

  5. @pgmoore, I am in the market for a bimini top and tower biminis look sweet, do you have straps front and rear, strap front only, or all rigid pipe style? which do you recommend and why? This is a christmas gift for my wife!
