  1. It’s getting to that time of year when I’ll get out maybe once or twice a week, and sometimes every other week, when the weather is warm. Sadly, I’m just now figuring out what was killing my skiing all season. Went out yesterday and ran 2 back-to-back easy passes at what used to be my 75-80% pass that has been my 20% pass this season, then 4 easy buoys at the pass I rarely run.
on the bright side, this time of year is when my office becomes well decorated

  2. I once talked to a pro skier friend who used to be on one brand of skis that does their mold/press at a lower temp, longer cook time. He said his skiing went to garbage for a few months and he couldn’t figure it out. I’m not remembering the exact circumstances (maybe he borrowed a friends ski) but he got on another of the exact ski and there it was. Skiing was back to normal. He said his ski had basically gone dead. He has since been on a different few skis of a higher temp shorter press time and says he won’t go back.
I don’t know that the build method was the ultimate cause, but I have heard that it happens. I’m waiting for my ski partner’s 2017 Senate to die on him so I can catch up.

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong but Erika and Nate are single event skiers, so I’m guessing that single first place finishes are worth more than 3 events getting lower placements. Like a skier getting 300 points for each, slalom, trick, and jump still only equals 900 points so putting a possible if not almost likely 1000 point single eventer makes the most sense. Regina is a freak and could win 2 events so she’s a no brainer. Anna is definitely a top of the podium contender in trick and can post solid jump scores and even decent slalom scores. As odd as it seems, I think it’s solid choices for the team

  4. @jgills88I think I’m understanding what some older threads had you thinking. When people running, let’s say Wiley’s, have asked if they should buy a new ski and put a Reflex setup on it EVERYONE jumps in saying NO, stick with your old boots when you go to a new ski. It’s really a function of keeping it to one variable. The ski will be, as @Hortonsaid, “a blank canvas”. You have no idea what the ski wants; does it like a lot of front foot pressure in the pre-turn, will it eat your lunch if you get tail heavy on the onside, etc., etc. If you get a TOTALLY different boot system, the inputs that you know work on the old boots may do something wildly different on the new setup.

I stick to my original post at this point now. New boots on old ski, you’re still going to have to find the “right” boot placement, then go looking at fin. I MIGHT even consider taking the fin back to stock when I change to a very different boot... that one I can be pretty hard-headed on though and stay on old fin settings too long

  5. When I read the response options I’m not clear on the question.

Ski? Is this a noun or verb? Like “change skis” or “go ski it until you get it figured out”?

Obviously, changing skis would be the biggest change, and require both figuring out binding placement and fin setting.

After that, I go the route Rossi suggests: set the fin to stock, then figure out your boot placement, then fin settings.

  6. @Cooleo15thank you for the info. I remember a video of Andy showing his heel didn't really move much in his RTP. I'm no AM! My heel is all over the ski in an RTP but I've always felt that it is probably the best due to the ability to move forward on the ski. Your boot and the one that @Deanoski has made look perfect. Looks like i need to go on a thrift store search for old skis to cannibalize!

  7. Yeah, for sure still making them. That Evo is nothing but the skate shell with the cuff hole cut to make a “C” so the cuff releases from the bottom “base” and your foot comes out. The “C” starts to wear, as you would expect from soft plastic and releases start happening when they shouldn’t. Just not a design that can be expected to have any longevity. Not to mention, as @lakeaustinskiersaid, the boot they use “rots” and becomes brittle without much visible indication. I’ve had a front boot basically EXPLODE on me as I hit the first wake. Dead serious, I think it gave me a concussion. One of the worst falls in my life.

Reflex, Edge/Syndicate, Goode with the Reflex release, or Radar Vapor with Reflex release are all superior.

Then you could also go the MOB route and use just about any boot you like. Well, except that Fluid Motion boot. That’s the exact setup that tried to kill me. NOT the MOB’s fault

if you want something releasable, those two systems are really your options

  8. If it has ANYTHING to do with Kris Lapoint, you never know what will be on the ski, or part of the ski. My lakeowner and Kris go back to the 70’s. You should see the crazy stuff leaning against his ski shed. 2 different skis cut down the middle and glassed together really crazy progressive asymmetrical tunnels.

Honestly, I love half rear boots, so a toe with a heel cup and a flimsy overlay is right in my wheelhouse

  9. 21 hours ago, Horton said:

When you get ready to ride the Warp reach out out to me and I will share settings and how the holy hell you are supposed to measure DFT.  Also you have to know how to drain the water out from inside the ski if you get a leak 🙂

I’ll reach out for sure. Just looking forward to the off-season play ski. That DFT looks impossible.

  10. It’s called “Love in Fairhope”. It’s a Hulu series Reese Witherspoon and some others produced. My wife made me watch it because it’s our hometown and her trainer is in it, along with a few others.
I do remember the lake owner asking us if we could go ski because there was some type of filming going on but no one could

  11. But it’s on the worst show ever made. So embarrassing I won’t even post it on Facebook

First pic is my boat in the boathouse. Thankfully too blurry to claim that it’s mine.

    second one, see those buoys?

Third pic: my daughter’s life jacket is now famous. She’s gonna tell all her 5th grade friends. I’m certain of it

  12. @Slalom.Steve it’s not so much “pulling with you arms” as it is trying to keep them in and down. @twhisper I think I’m saying it wrong, but I understand what you are saying and know you are correct. I’ll try to get some video sent to you tomorrow or Friday. If I can’t ski and sort out some ski BS I’ve got going on (my skiing) by Thursday I’m going to miss the last tournament of my year
