  1. This looks like a good discussion on Reflex. "My unexpected results on the first set of my Reflex Binding" http://ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/9085/my-unexpected-results-on-the-first-set-of-my-reflex-binding/p1
  2. BTW – I am on a 2012 65” Senate C, 130lb, 5’ 10”, fifteen-offer.
  3. I am looking at getting my first set of hard shells this season (front foot only + RTP). 1. How long does it take to get adjusted to hard shells? 2. Do hard shell help you learn good form and technique faster? 3. Reflex size 10 short or long base? The Reflex site shows short for size 4,6,8 but Miami Nautique has short base with size 10. A short base would have less affect on ski flex? Probably only matter for short line.
  4. @Brady a new ski would have cost a lot less.
  5. I picked up a full pass last year. When your close to 0 that is much easier.
  6. @EdObermeire, I agree that everyone does not need a new ski every five years. For me it was NOT the theory of “Leave nothing on the table & you must get the newest gear”. My old ski was a 66” (I am only 133 lb). I kept thinking I could learn faster if I was on a 65”. For me it was not just about having something NEW or the latest technology. It was more about having the right size ski. And if I got the correct size ski and still did not ski well, then it must be me and NOT the ski. It paid off. I got the 65” Senate and I also started skiing better too!
  7. @Horton, I am thinking a Reflex front binding may be the upgrade for '14. And keep the RTP on the back.
  8. BTW - for those that don't know. 10 things to shorten the trip from Zero to 32 off is in the Classic threads.
  9. As I set goals for next season, I must look back at last season. In beginning of 2013, I was asking the question, “Do I NEED a new ski?” No, at my level the ski I had was just fine. I was on the fence (just get a ski because you want it vs. focus on technique in 2013 then I will be ready for a new ski in 2014). Then I read “10 things to shorten the trip from Zero to 32 off” # 3. “If your ski is more than 5 years old, it is time for a new one”. That gave me a bump off the fence and a start to my best season ever. As a Weekend Warrior without regular access to a course advancements in terms of buoy count come Very slow. But with my new Senate C and a little pro coaching I felt something start to click last summer and it was great! The Senate C rocks for someone who is a beginner in the course. THANK YOU Horton!
  10. I went with the HO 41 Tail after reading in other post how much ballers like old HO gloves and 41s. I had to send them back, the L was too small. The fingers were a little snug on the length but the thumb was just too tight. I hope the XL will not be too BIG? A friend also got the Storms from H2O proshop for $25. The price was hard to pass up. But I read they are a thinner glove so I stuck with the 41s.
  11. @Horton yes that was a bone head move to name a ski with 55's in the name. I almost did not read this because I thought it was about Radar making buoys!
  12. 2nd what @XR6Hurricane, @oldjeep & Zman said. I mostly free ski and have been using the Accurate World Cup 3/4 for 5 seasons now. They work great. I am going to get a new pair of something full finger this year. Only because my hand is a little big for the large and it takes some time to get them off.
  13. I just noticed who Wtrski6 is. He would know more than I would about what events Timberlake will have this coming season.
  14. @MarcusDski, both Dave's and Corey's sites are awesome. I have skied both of the lakes. Corey is also an awesome coach! I know of a few more privet lakes within 1 hour. At Timberlake they normally have some Fun Tournaments and adult clinics each year. I can send you Al's email @ Timberlake. Also, I have a portable course that we put in the James River or in Lake Chesdin. Send me a PM with your email. When will your classes start? Billy
  15. Anyone have a running order for Men’s Slalom? I looked on the IWWF site but don’t see it.
  16. @DUSkier Oh, DU must be "Down Under Skier". Your season must be just getting started. I think I will have to pass on a set this weekend. I don’t think I could make it in time.
  17. @DUSkier & @SusanT is that an invitation?
  18. Yes, I learned some better skiing technique. Most importantly I learned to leave the Insta-Slalom at home if it is windy.
  19. Billy M. – live in Richmond, VA, I am 37. I am still a rookie at the course but I am addicted to chasing buoys. I ski on public water and we all know what challenges that brings. I grew up skiing on the James River but we never had a course. This year I got a portable course, a new ski and my first inboard ski boat (01 Response lx). A baller on BOS found my boat for me. This year I actually felt my skiing improve. It was awesome to feel the ski curve a turn. Free-skiing and the course have such a different feel to them. I also learned a thing or two about getting around those dam buoys (thanks Corey Vaughn!). It was a great season! There are several clubs with in 1hr drive of Richmond. Two or three times a year I try to ski Grassroots fun tournaments or day clinics. Until I got the Insta-Slalom fun tournaments were my only way to practice skiing in the course. Ballers, Please invite the Grassroots skiers in your area to a couple of tournaments or clinics each year! Us Newbies need a Fun round, C & R are too intimidating.
  20. @rayn I have seen that lake on I-469 many times. My in-laws live on that side of town and I pass it every time we visit Fort Wayne. I have wondered if I ever move up there if I would be able to find a place to ski.
  21. @fu_man that’s my question too. If you change the angle of the caliper just a tiny about, it changes where the caliper contacts the beveled edge on the back of the ski.
  22. @mwetskier, I did not see that you posted the link. Then I posted it seconds after you.
