Baller GMC Posted May 20, 2009 Baller Share Posted May 20, 2009 ...GPS becomes unreliable or has a period of dropouts/dead zones/etc.?  http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/20/govt-warns-gps-system-could-begin-to-fail-in-2010/I do have to say that I agree with most of the commenters following this article: there's no way the government lets this happen. But just for fun, what would go down if this happened in mid-August 2010, say,  in the region of Nationals?!? Would ZO be rendered useless? I don't have enough knowledge of GPS or ZO to say for sure so it's just a hypothetical question from a lurker that is still skiing in a drysuit and enjoying hockey season. Go Wings. Baller GAJ0004 Posted May 26, 2009 Baller Share Posted May 26, 2009 I think Zero Off connects to commercial GPS. The only thing the government does is put them up there. Since I have the 2008 version of Stargazer on my boat, I can switch back to PP classic just by going through the menus. I would be more worried about big brother using GPS to tax our mileage(cars) or use it to measure our carbon footprint from boat usage. If they ever start doing that I will disconnect my GPS antenna and use PP in classic mode.
