I remember the same scenerio years ago when I was three eventing. I saw a baggage guy chunk a slalom on the belt with no regard, He then proceeded to do the same with my three event bag and came up lame, had to get someone over to help :-)

I'd call that Gentile on the Airline Scale. I've seen luggage thrown from one level to another, dropping several feet onto something with little give.

 

It's weird any time you watch baggage being handled. It almost seems like they are making a special effort to treat stuff as roughly as possible.
