Wake Plate?

That is a cavitation plate with a small 2" tracking fin added to it to give a small increase in the lateral stability of the boat.

The cavitation plate in an inboard application has several functions. It does affect the wake some, but it also adds a small amount to the lifting surface of the boat, and also helps to keep the rudder from ventilating.

The American Skier Advance rocked the WSM boat tests as the best slalom boat back in the day. Looks like minimal to no spray relief pockets, though, so probably golf balls back there at shortline...though was supposed to have an incredible wake.

I have an 86 Advance. Great wake but yes 35 and shorter you are just getting pelted back there. I went to 39 once and it felt like someone throwing buckets of water at your knees when you were crossing the wakes. This is me at 36 mph at 32 off. wakes are good but look how far back the spray is going.
