Why do some of us want to grow the sport?

@Klondike Yep. I know of a few sites like the one you mentioned. The "Nope" guys probably wouldn't be much fun to ski with, anyway....Stay with the "Yep" guys. They are more fun to ski & hang around with.

@danbirch I agree that buying a pull makes more sense BUT the reason I suggested "chip in for gas" in this specific case is because the club prohibits ski rides for hire. The members cannot be caught accepting money for ski rides, as it violates the rules of the club.

 

I'm not sure if you are talking about Okeheelee but if you showed up there asking to "buy a pull" you would be shunned by everyone. I'm not defending these guys, they sound like jerks, but there is no buying and selling at these kinds of sites. Best not to use those terms if you hope to actually ski there.

That's interesting. Me and a buddy just bought "pulls" at Okeheelee, with no problem (last May). Had a blast! I found everyone there to be very nice (maybe we were just lucky).

 

The water there is unbelievable, too!

So I was caught up in a technicality of terms I guess... At the end of the day I was leaving money, however each individual wants to justify the acceptance of the money is up to them. We all know its very expensive to own and operate in this sport so any help we can provide to another skier/club especially when you know the favors will be returned we should jump at the oppurtunity! IMO

@danbirch Just curious, did you just walk up to the main docks at Okee, introduce yourselves and ask someone for a pull or did you already know people there?
