Every time I've wanted a boat it's been a seller's market, I'm desperate/impatient for a boat, and I've been hosed on the sale because of that. That said every boat has been worth every dime. 1990 SN, 900ish hours in 2002 for 10K and drove 4000mi round trip for it- ugh. No clue. Also had soft spot in floor (rotted 2ndary stringer) and beat interior. Live and learn. Sold in 2005 at 7500. 2000 SN bought in 2006 WITH 99 gelcoat/graphics (probably 1 of 2 boats done that way)- 23,500. Best boat ever and will probably never sell it, but certainly not a deal by any stretch! That was the peak of the TSC1 market- pre-Zero Off era when there was actually no good reason to get a newer boat (groan). Boat is still mint. I'm buying another (2nd) ski boat soon and will be paying top dollar for that too. It was ugly but ran great. The guy even delivered it to my house. Cleaned it up with $600 worth of material and some elbow grease in the other pictures. Put an additional $2000 into it with Perfect Pass Stargazer, a wakeboard tower (not shown), ballast, and a hydraulic wakeplate. My boat now throws a ski wake like a friends 98 SN. '91 Ski Centurion Falcon Barefoot in mint condition w/225 EFI Yamaha in '98 for $13,500--still have both. 14 ft alumacraft for $100, new condition trailer for it for $250 (buddies jet ski trailer). Here in the East, a car dealer who was also a promo boat person had a deal for his yearly Nautique: he'd get a new boat, and the CC distributor would get one of his demo. cars to use. Don't think any $$ was involved. Deal went snag-free for years. Although one year, when the promo Nautiques were bright orange (remember that?), he balked at that, wanting to keep a low profile on the lake. Orange boat? Then you'll get an orange car. The worst part was my wife and I were sitting in the boat trying to make up our mind of a low ball opening offer which was 23 never thinking it would fly. He was the original owner and had purchased it new in Montana. It was in good condition, however, I did wind up replacing the trans for $1200 so really I owned it for a bit more, but it was still a smoking deal. No special edition, well, other than the Malibu Barbie paint scheme. I tinted the windscreen and it was a pretty hot looking boat imo. Bomini top, monster tower (which I could do without), Ford Windsor, great condition, etc. It's been a great boat! Did I mention it's white with pink and teal accents? He was so ocd that he couldnt stand to use it, for fear of it getting dirty. He showed me the bill of sale from when he purchased it for $32,000. Pulled out an old WS mag boat buyers guide (1994) when they rated the wakes. Cal Skier bested MC SN and Boo. Not by a little but a lot at longer lines and slower speeds and matched all 3 for Shortline. also matched the big 3 in power and tracking. Bought from original owner in 2004 for $10,000- including BI Contour boom, Trick release, a few beginner v handles, and other misc things. Interesting story behind my boat and why its so valuable to me, the original owner is a very good friend of mine, and he taught me to slalom behind this boat. He was a waterski coach at VA Tech. It has a sweet wake, the OJ CNC 4 blade was a huge improvement over the factory 3 blade 14x18. It gets and goes, smoothed the rooster a bit, I love it. I won best of show with it last year at a MC reunion in the 1987-2000 class. I got lucky with the boat, he gave me first shot before he was even committed to sell, which I jumped on. luckyone Posted October 12, 2012 Share Posted October 12, 2012 traded drapery services for 1979 mastercraft used on private lake its whole life ,brown speckle down the sides with a giant repair on drivers side from coming in to fast to the dock in a tourn.( maybe they were running late)pictures to follow.Sold years later after hours of fun use,except one electric problem that i could never nail. Pretty much paid market price for a boat with 300-400 hours but the real deal was I bought it from a friend and I had personal knowledge of how the boat had been used and cared for. Only 50 hours..Keep it 5 years and sold it for$16,000, when we left Hawaii and moved to a Ski Lake in Texas. It was a 1995 rig that had been sitting for over a year on the dealer's used boat lot and they were dying to get rid of it. Started at $11,400 and by the time Thanksgiving came around they were down to $8500. The trailer and the motor were like new (maybe 10 hours on the motor) and would have cost that much together, so the hull was basically free. The hull was a little faded from neglect and the interior had a little mildew but cleaned up pretty good. Since then...way too much money put into it (new motor, new trailer, new transom), but far less than a new boat would be, and I don't care because I love the boat. Grew up skiing rocket-ship outboards that hauled ass on their tail. 13.5 ft Switzer rated for 115 with a 140 on it, 17.5 ft switzer w/a 175. Centurion Barefoot Warrior w/225 Yamaha Vmax EFI was next, and I can't bear to part w/my '91 Centurion Falcon Barefoot w/225 Yamaha Vmax EFI. @razorskier1, check out that pic.
