Baller jhughes Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 I've never gotten a good deal on a boat! Every time I've wanted a boat it's been a seller's market, I'm desperate/impatient for a boat, and I've been hosed on the sale because of that. That said every boat has been worth every dime. 1990 SN, 900ish hours in 2002 for 10K and drove 4000mi round trip for it- ugh. No clue. Also had soft spot in floor (rotted 2ndary stringer) and beat interior. Live and learn. Sold in 2005 at 7500. 2000 SN bought in 2006 WITH 99 gelcoat/graphics (probably 1 of 2 boats done that way)- 23,500. Best boat ever and will probably never sell it, but certainly not a deal by any stretch! That was the peak of the TSC1 market- pre-Zero Off era when there was actually no good reason to get a newer boat (groan). Boat is still mint. I'm buying another (2nd) ski boat soon and will be paying top dollar for that too. That said, I wouldn't take a single purchase back or a single moment on these boats back! http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5227/5628323035_6440bd700d.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5304/5628323887_1cb52ba8ae.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8014/7540338610_ea6425859b.jpg http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4066/4357009460_d3464b7794.jpg
Boody
2009 Ski Nautique 196 with 500 hours. $26,500 on eBay on a Tuesday before work. $2k to ship it from Florida to Oregon. Drives perfect, better than my buddies who bought new in 08.

Baller Waternut Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 86 Dixie Super Skier 299... Bought it in 2010 for $2800 with trailer as shown in the first two pictures. It was ugly but ran great. The guy even delivered it to my house. Cleaned it up with $600 worth of material and some elbow grease in the other pictures. Put an additional $2000 into it with Perfect Pass Stargazer, a wakeboard tower (not shown), ballast, and a hydraulic wakeplate. My boat now throws a ski wake like a friends 98 SN. Then with the ballast filled, it will throw a nice wake for the wakeboarders too so I always have someone willing to pull me.
Baller 6balls Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 I bought a '00 SN 196 w/84 hours in 2010 for $17K even. '91 Ski Centurion Falcon Barefoot in mint condition w/225 EFI Yamaha in '98 for $13,500--still have both. 14 ft alumacraft for $100, new condition trailer for it for $250 (buddies jet ski trailer). Used, boat lift for $250, inherited 9.9 outboard to put on it--still have this boat as well. @wish...nice pics of sweet boats!

Baller sunvalleylaw Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 Only ever bought one boat, an '88 Seaswirl outboard open bow in '93 for like $3500. Not a comp boat by any means, and I am looking to replace it, but it has provided years and years of fun, before and after family. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w92/sunvalleylaw/GOPR0252.jpg
Baller buoyboy1 Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 Bought a Bank Repo1988 Ski Supreme in 1990 for $9500. Baller Edbrazil Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 OK, this goes way back to when even a new ski boat was well under $10,000, so maybe not so notable. Here in the East, a car dealer who was also a promo boat person had a deal for his yearly Nautique: he'd get a new boat, and the CC distributor would get one of his demo. cars to use. Don't think any $$ was involved. Deal went snag-free for years. Although one year, when the promo Nautiques were bright orange (remember that?), he balked at that, wanting to keep a low profile on the lake. Orange boat? Then you'll get an orange car. CC distributor relented.
Baller dbski Posted August 11, 2012 Baller Share Posted August 11, 2012 Bought a new 03 Malibu Response LX in the spring of 04. Paid 23 on a list priceof 28. The worst part was my wife and I were sitting in the boat trying to make up our mind of a low ball opening offer which was 23 never thinking it would fly. To our surprize the salesman accepted it right away. I still wonder how low he would have gone!

crashman
sorry guys I can't tell you what I stole my SN for. If I did there's another member on here who might kill me! The best part is when somebody at the club asks where I got the boat and I tell them I bought it from some dude in California over the internet. "so you flew out there and looked at it?" SDNAH2OSKIER
I bought it from a gentleman in central California, I think it was 2009. I only owned it for a few months. He was the original owner and had purchased it new in Montana. It was in good condition, however, I did wind up replacing the trans for $1200 so really I owned it for a bit more, but it was still a smoking deal. No special edition, well, other than the Malibu Barbie paint scheme. I tinted the windscreen and it was a pretty hot looking boat imo. Steven, you may have seen me at Canyon, I lived in Phoenix at the time.

Baller_ Wish Posted August 14, 2012 Author Baller_ Share Posted August 14, 2012 @rodltg2 Good grief....u could eat off that motor. And it is essentially a 20yr old boat. WOW!! Pulled out an old WS mag boat buyers guide (1994) when they rated the wakes. Cal Skier bested MC SN and Boo. Not by a little but a lot at longer lines and slower speeds and matched all 3 for Shortline. also matched the big 3 in power and tracking. Not sure why but when I see a bimini facing that way it looks backwards. Or are mine in my photos backwards?? Hmmmm?

DooSPX
1991 MasterCraft Prostar 190 Powerslot. Bought from original owner in 2004 for $10,000- including BI Contour boom, Trick release, a few beginner v handles, and other misc things. Interesting story behind my boat and why its so valuable to me, the original owner is a very good friend of mine, and he taught me to slalom behind this boat. He was a waterski coach at VA Tech. Everything is all original, except for the bimini, which I added and the new OJ XMP 13.7x17.5 4 blade CNC prop which I added.

DooSPX
@itch2ski and @6balls, thanks, I really do love the boat. It has a sweet wake, the OJ CNC 4 blade was a huge improvement over the factory 3 blade 14x18. It gets and goes, smoothed the rooster a bit, I love it. I won best of show with it last year at a MC reunion in the 1987-2000 class. I got lucky with the boat, he gave me first shot before he was even committed to sell, which I jumped on. The boat was always cared for, and stored in doors. She turns heads, for sure. Oh, and she has just under 700 hours.

SocalWaterSki
Hey that's me :) Best 2 deals I've ever made on a boat.... 1999 Ski Nautique Closed Bow. 1002 hours. GT-40 engine. Not the biggest fan of the tower, but for the price of $3500 I couldn't turn it down. http://www.planetnautique.com/vb3/attachment.php?attachmentid=19433&d=1349231131 1974 Cee Bee Avenger. Evinrude 140. "Didn't Run" when I got it, but a new battery and plug wires later... she's a steady pull and will yank your shoulders out if you let her loose. $90 for the battery, and another $500 in the ski pole and new floors. So.... $590... call it $600? For the saltwater around the block from me, she works like a dream... Baller Ed_Johnson Posted October 14, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 14, 2012 Best deal I ever had was a 1 year old 1993 Prostar 190 LT1, that I bought in Hawaii, in a Divorce sale for $9000.00. Only 50 hours..Keep it 5 years and sold it for$16,000, when we left Hawaii and moved to a Ski Lake in Texas. Baller XR6Hurricane Posted October 14, 2012 Baller Share Posted October 14, 2012 Bought my Rapid Craft with a 90 hp Evinrude on it in 1998. It was a 1995 rig that had been sitting for over a year on the dealer's used boat lot and they were dying to get rid of it. Started at $11,400 and by the time Thanksgiving came around they were down to $8500. The trailer and the motor were like new (maybe 10 hours on the motor) and would have cost that much together, so the hull was basically free. The hull was a little faded from neglect and the interior had a little mildew but cleaned up pretty good. Since then...way too much money put into it (new motor, new trailer, new transom), but far less than a new boat would be, and I don't care because I love the boat.
