I know MB is Mike Brendel. He also made Ski Brendella if I'm not mistaken (although there is some overlap in years which confuses me). Just wondering about the quality of the boat and the wake for a 15' off skier. Thanks.

Yes you are correct about Mike Brendel. I had a 2000 mb and it's was rock solid. Dont know if the 1996 had wood in it or not. I know it's been rumored that Mike splashed the 85MC fir the first ski brendella. That 96 looks alot like a 93 mc. Seems like a good price .

You're right on! That hull is from MC's 91-94 molds. Mike had a gift for getting old molds from MC.

That is a good price, looks like it it in good condition, nice trailer, upholstery looks decent. Check the motor and trans. I would try to splash it before you buy it or offer 6500 so you have 1000 cushion to help absorb any unforseen probs and maintenance.

Did he also do the Cheyenne boats or was that someone else? My brother had one in the mid 90s and it was a great boat. I thought I remembered him paying like 14k brand new.

@MAD11 The cheyenne was actually based on a Sanger DXII Mold. I think the principal at Cheyenne worked for Sanger in the late 80s. After shutting down in the mid 90s, he went to work for Tige.

if it is a true MC prostar 190 91-94 clone than all MCs were composite hull's (maybe floor wood still?)

 

thats a good buy if its in good condition and the motor has reasonable hours on it. the trailer is worth a few G's alone...

No wood in the MC's, but not sure about the MB? I'm not a boat builder, but I'm assuming MB could've used wood stringers with that hull, where mc used glass.

MC's went wood free around '86, good for longevity, although many will tell you they prefer the wood stringer boats because it took mfg's awhile to get some "play" into the composite stringers.

 

If the floor doesn't have soft spots, and the hardware holding the engine in is tight, you probably have a pretty rot free boat. But you can always play around with an awl in wood floor boats and look for rot.

@itch2ski -- Our team boat at Chico State (96-99) were MB's. The wake is good but 22' is a bit stiff but not big. Overall, it's a good wake from 15' on into shortline lengths. I still own a 2000MB-190 and it's been a great boat without any issues and I think the wake competes with today's upper echelon boats. The main difference being the softness when compared to a SN or Centurion. I would say it's very similar to today's MC at 15' and 22' 34mph.
