popof
Hi there! Well Horton's great idea of sharing videos actually led me to posting my first poll, one I've been wanting to post for a long time. I'm a fairly recent slalom skier (5-6 years) and I must admit I've done most of my teaching alone, watching over and over and over the same waterski videos, and playing the sick moves in my head again and again and again and trying to do the same on the water. Always been a great admirer of smooooooth skiers so obviously I favor seeing Guys like T Whisper or Nate running smooth 32's and 35's than seeing world champions rip 41offs and 43offs. Not that I'm not impressed, but I get my kick (I admit) from watching beaaaaauuuuutiful smoooth carving slalom, more than Huge balls of spray and a Guy praying for his life between two buoys. Sooooo this brings me to the poll, according to you, which is the best Slalom video and why? Which ones have you seen? Which one would you recommend? Etc etc... All the best for 2013 to everyone on the site! Thanks @Horton for the Great Work! :)
popof
Personnally I've only seen Evolve, EIW 1 and EIW2 and a French one called "Definition" I think. Evolve is, IMHO, clearly above the others, EIW1&2 coming very very close.
Baller ALPJr Posted January 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2013 I like West Coast Slalom

popof
Woooooops it appears I'm unable to edit the "Poll" part of my post :(. @Horton, I don't know if you can / mind taking the time to, edit and add other videos? Else sorry guys we'll have to stick to it as it is :)
Baller Skoot1123 Posted January 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2013 The only video I have is Slalom with Andy Mapple. But after I watched that a couple times I went out and ran my first 32 off at 34 mph. Go figure. I'll watch that again before this season. Have only seen a few clips from Edged but it is pretty cool. Nice views and angles.
Baller Chef23 Posted January 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2013 From an instruction standpoint I really like the Andy Mapple video. From an entertainment perspective Evolve and EIW 1 are both really good. I have never even heard of Skier vs Skier.

Baller JohnCox Posted January 17, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 17, 2013 West Coast Slalom might be the worst video I have ever seen.....I really like evolve. In fact, I think I will watch it now.
Baller ToddL Posted January 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 18, 2013 The Secret Spot. Why? Because it depicts the ski lifestyle, especially growing up as a lake rat. It presents many disciplines in a very positive way.
Baller SkiJay Posted January 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 18, 2013 Edged in Water 1 & 2 actually. Todd Ristorcelli makes the best ski videos ever. Best music. Best film work. Best bonus tracks. Please do a third Risto ...
ToddF
Don't have evolve but sounds like I need to get it.

klindy
43@43 is awesome. Not an instructional video but really a well produced documentary of a terrific person who happens to ski pretty well too!
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted January 18, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 18, 2013 Extras Section in Evolve has "Smooth Ones" and "39 Off." Great for technique visualization. West Coast Slalom sections "Marcus On Gates" and "Marcus On Marcus." Very understandable explanations.
Baller_ The_MS Posted January 18, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted January 18, 2013 @ToddL is right. Secret Spot is great and the interview with Bink is awesome.
Baller Zman Posted January 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2013 Evolve has been in my work lap top since it came out (except for an occassional play on the big screen. Great for buisness travel. I wore out my first EIW 1, literally. Called the folks up and they shipped me a new one for free! Love both vids. Baller thager Posted January 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2013 Drew Ross's vid is still one of my favorites. I like the humor and I know some of the skiers including Drew. Wish he would do another.
Baller 6balls Posted January 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 19, 2013 Drew Ross vid is good, disagree on the humor...flavor thing I guess. Would like a copy of the secret spot. Got one for a friend a long time ago, should have for myself as can't find one now.
Baller auskier Posted January 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 22, 2013 edged 1 was the one that started it all. Then PJ dropped some good ones with some pretty cool angles. I didnt like EIW 2 as much. With GoPros and easily accessible quality gear these days (even more so than a few years ago), it wont be long before someone comes out with another quality production to push it further, eg 3D. Imagine in 3D a slow-mo of asher coming into 2 ball at 41 sending a wall straight at you...
Baller thager Posted January 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 22, 2013 Drew's came out at least a couple of years prior to EIW1 I think.
Baller Chef23 Posted January 22, 2013 Baller Share Posted January 22, 2013 I like the Secret Spot a lot also but that is more of a water lifestyle video than just a water ski video.
Baller_ The_MS Posted January 22, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted January 22, 2013 The best video is video of yourself. You can learn a lot more by watching yourself ski then watching a pro. If you can, go side by side with yourself and another great skier that is skiing at the same speed.
Administrators Horton Posted January 23, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 23, 2013 @MS that always puts me in a bad mood. The truth sucks.
