Oldutskier
Has anyone used these with any success? We are on a private lake, but I am looking for something to help keep the boat off the dock. http://www.stowawayholdaway.com or this http://www.dock-calm.com/products.htm
Baller Killer Posted July 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 9, 2013 no, but I wouldn't want a rigid arm like that holding my boat in a violent storm. mooring whips FTW http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Dockmate-Deluxe-Mooring-Whips-12&i=74607&aID=602K&merchID=4006
Baller Ed_Johnson Posted July 9, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 9, 2013 When I was in Hawaii I used them on my dock because the Trade Winds would make it very windy in the afternoon...The Slalom Course was in front of my dock, so boat waves could also rock the boat hard against the dock...I set the arms back a couple feet from the edge so the boat would stay about a foot away at all times...Worked really well. Baller Brady Posted July 10, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 10, 2013 @Oldutskier What @Killer posted works awesome!! I have them on my houseboat, and they work perfectly, including huge storms. It is easy to hook up and release and I am completely secure when I am hooked up, especially when the boat or dock is at a different level than your boat--as in big waves or a storm. I would buy those instead.
Baller slalom frog Posted July 10, 2013 Baller Share Posted July 10, 2013 I have never used them but I do have a friend that has used them for several years. They have worked very well for him and he has not had any issues that I am aware of.
