Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted August 21, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted August 21, 2013 FYI Mikes ( @Liquid d )boat has been restored and updated and currently sits in my warehouse waiting for a new donor heart. we are either looking for a pull out Excalibur to reconfigure or a DBW ZO ready out of a wrecked boat. Thanks.
Baller eleeski Posted August 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2013 I want a V6 ZO engine (smaller and lighter) for my old American skier. Eric
Baller A_B Posted August 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2013 How hard would it be to marinize the new Ford Mustang V6? It's aluminum, but cranks out 305hp. My wife has one and it is awfully quick for a 6.
Baller oldjeep Posted August 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2013 @eleeski Seems like a 4.3L would be the natural V6 to use since it share so much in common with the 5.7 and there are plenty of marine versions available. Although I doubt that there is much more than a 100lb difference between the
Baller eleeski Posted August 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2013 The ZO is the problem. The market needs to be bigger than one crazy tinkerer. I really want a turbo diesel lightweight small durable ZO engine. And world peace. Eric
Baller BraceMaker Posted August 21, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 21, 2013 @eleeski - I am really bummed that the VW engine option on MC was such a huge up buy.

Baller Jordan Posted August 23, 2013 Baller Share Posted August 23, 2013 @Jody_Seal How about doing a thread documenting this transplant? I think that there would be a lot of us who would enjoy seeing all of the steps etc.
jwroblew
I want an Ecoboost out of a F150 and Zero Off, 400ft-lbs of torque at 1500RPM, sign me up
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted August 23, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted August 23, 2013 @Jordan If I showed ya! Then everyone would know!! It is a very inexpensive way to get ZO with out dolling out $30K or more on a newer boat. New engine coupled with ZO includes installation in a pre 2002 Nautique $11,600.00 Their are some returns if the pull out engine is decent and a Perfect pass to sell on E-bay. In some cases after the pull out engine and PP sale one could be in a repower for less then $10K.

Baller ALPJr Posted October 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2013 I always thought the Honda 3.5L V6 would be a good, efficient ski boat motor - in a light hull 2k lbs or less.
Baller A_B Posted October 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2013 Displacement and low end torque are hard to beat in a ski boat.
Baller Ham_Wallace Posted October 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2013 There is no replacement for displacement! I love my 6.0 litre. It does not use any more fuel than a Monsoon. At 34mph it makes fuel.
Baller ALPJr Posted October 19, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 19, 2013 Yes. At 34 and below our 5.8L 351 burns just about a gallon a set - 6 passes. I would like to try the 3.5L Honda at 260hp with dbw and zo in a light hull - 18xlt - 176 - Sportster - GTS 20 - under 2k lbs package - with the motor, aluminum trans, and a sparse interior. DewayneCast
I don’t have your desired engine in my garage right now. But I can recommend you a place named Buyusedengine.com where you’ll surely get the engine you need and don’t worry about the reliability as they give enough warranty on the parts they sell. So check out the place and I hope you would like the place, I’ve bought many parts from them over the years and their service is amazing.
