Baller rayn Posted September 25, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 25, 2013 Weather(wind/cold) and time(travel, early sunset), makes it feel like it is over, probably only gettin 3-4 more sets in before "boat out" the week before Halloween
madcityskier
Torn hamstring recently. But if the lake isn't iced over the season isn't over. 5 years in a row to December. Hope to be recovered in time.
Baller RLW Posted September 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 26, 2013 @Horton - I'm with you. I typically am skiing my best in September. I just wish I could start where I left off in the Spring. Too bad that doesn't happen!
Baller GAJ0004 Posted September 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 26, 2013 I will submerge the slalom course any time starting Oct 20. Everything will be put away around Oct 27. I like to get the boat winterized and detailed before it gets cold. November is usually a nasty cold and rainy month in OH and PA. I ski in October for conditioning. The later I ski in the fall the easier it is to get back to form in the spring. We usually start again in mid April. On occasion we get a late March start. If I did not have to worry about my boat I would keep it in service until Thanksgiving. I like to get it out of the water winterized and dried out before it gets cold. Lately they have been lowering the lake by 5 feet the first week of November. For six months I become a total gym rat.
Baller_ lpskier Posted September 26, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted September 26, 2013 Yesterday, we flirted with the 100 degree combined temperature up here in Northern NY. 59 f water and 52 f air. That was a shock after Little Mountain this past weekend. We ski daily through our last tournament, usually Trophy Lakes at Columbus Day. After that, nice days until the water freezes, usually sometime in December. Snow ski season usually overlaps water ski season by a few weeks in the fall and vice versa in the spring. Baller phauswirth Posted September 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 26, 2013 Three weeks left when we drop the lake level 2 feet.
mopowpow
Getting a bonus this fall, must be making up for the crappy spring and early summer we had. Missed skiing for a few weeks - boat was stuck on lift due to low water. But we finally got enough rain to walk (& lift) it off, but having to trailer it now... Baller ALPJr Posted September 26, 2013 Baller Share Posted September 26, 2013 Great time of year. Skiing is clicking, lakes are beautiful and weather is super. Kids in school and playing volleyball and football. Boat goes into winter storage 2nd week of October.
SoonerBred01
I'll probably make it out on the water one more time. Lake temps are still doable without any tops/wetsuits, but it'll drop pretty quick with night time temps into the 50's now. The second week of October is about as far as you can get in Oklahoma without wearing extra gear. Running at 30+mph cruising on the lake at 60-70 degree air temps tends to make friends shy away from being spotters as well.
Members OTF
Cooling off quick, lake temp dropping. I'm a lot more ready to jump in and go after staring at ice all winter than I am to brave the fall cold. 2 weekends left maybe.

Baller Andy Posted October 10, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 10, 2013 Pulled the boat and the lift this past weekend. The help seems to vanish when the water gets cold...pansies.
Baller_ MISkier Posted October 10, 2013 Baller_ Share Posted October 10, 2013 After I ski on Saturday, I will take the boat for annual maintenance and winterization. A couple of the other guys will keep their boats out for a bit longer and we'll use those. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears. Baller 6balls Posted October 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2013 Um heater tops???? Water sub 60 here. Air far cooler overnight and for the next 10 days daytime too! If I lived where the water didn't freeze, I'd ski year 'round. Orlando in 2 weeks and then it's over.
Baller Chuck_Dickey Posted October 11, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 11, 2013 Injured my ankle Labor Day weekend. I've been in a soft cast for nearly 6 weeks. Once I'm out of it, I'll have a couple months of rehab and leg muscle rebuilding before I can think about strapping on my ski again.
DooSPX
Never ends, fall and winter normally have the best conditions on our lake so we are out. Last year and the year before, I used my boat and had more sets between Nov and Jan then I did all year.

Baller 6balls Posted October 12, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 12, 2013 50, rainy, windy, low clouds today...yuck. Stuff scattered about my yard from overnight storm. Overnight low 38. 60 n sunny tomorrow with light wind might get out w/buddy on his lake. Plan oil change, winterize my boat along with pulling dock and lift as well. What a sad time of year. bigtallweed
Sunny and warm for October here on Vancouver Island BC. Skied on glass today in a Bare ultra dry baggy suit. Boat will go home last of October or first weekend of November. Once daylight savings is over its not worth leaving the boat on the lift. Can't ski after work and November is often pretty wet. Time then to take four months off.
Baller LZywicki1 Posted October 13, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 13, 2013 Heater tops and shorties here. Water was still at 67 yesterday, but that's going to change quicky. Larry -----<|

Baller foxriverat Posted October 13, 2013 Baller Share Posted October 13, 2013 Skied in long wetsuit yesterday in northern Illinois. Had to try the new senate. It was amazing compared to my 13 year old ski I had been on. Usually have the boat in storage first week of November.
