Chris Eller
There is going to be one at the Greensboro, NC Boat Show this weekend! Coble Water Ski and Wakeboard Camp will be entering it's first boat show as dealers with the introduction of Coble Boat and Ski. Anyone in the area come check it out. This will probably be the first ProStar in an NC boat show in 10+ years!

Baller swc5150 Posted January 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 23, 2014 No one on this site is talking about the course tracking system for the new PS, so is it supposed to be kept on the down-low at this time? I'm by no means "in the know", but heard about it from someone who is.
Chuck_Dickey
@swc5150 "course tracking system for the new PS" What this you are you talking about? No such system except the great tracking new hull design. There is the new ZO touch screen system exclusive to MC.
Baller swc5150 Posted January 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 23, 2014 It's a system that sounds like could be used in any boat, but MC is debuting first. I'm guessing since Chuck isn't familiar with it, I should probably not say anything further.

Baller ForrestGump Posted January 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 23, 2014 @swc5150 There's been no talk of a course tracking system specific to the PS in my circles at the dealership. Almost sounds like you're talking about Splasheye Drive.
Baller swc5150 Posted January 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 23, 2014 The system works like the back-up camera in a car. A wireless camera is mounted in the bow, and the visual is displayed on an smart phone placed on top of the dash (in that phone holder spot). It uses the path targeting lines on the display to help the drive keep it dead straight down the center of the course. If someone isn't familiar with this system on a back up camera, this probably sounds very confusing.
Baller swc5150 Posted January 23, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 23, 2014 I should add, the path targeting lines, line up with the guide balls down the course. Any deviation would instantly be noticeable.
Baller ForrestGump Posted January 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 24, 2014 Terrible idea, if you ask me. For one thing, the driver should have his eyes up and downcourse. 2nd, the rotation of the bow side to side as the driver counters is going to throw it all off. Mastercraft already has issues sourcing cameras. I'll ask about it.
Baller swc5150 Posted January 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 24, 2014 I think the idea is very cool, however, I think it would better suited for a heads-up display on the windshield versus a little smart phone. Like Shane says, the driver should have his eyes up.
Baller 6balls Posted January 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 24, 2014 Sounds like it would cause deviation and then attempt to react to it which is too late. Have to be anticipatory as a driver to keep it centered under loads from the skier.
Baller ToddL Posted January 24, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted January 24, 2014 I think a camera system is a good way to do training and teaching for drivers, but not for competition use. I also agree that a rear-facing camera could mix up left/right orientation for a driver. With a mirror, if you are too close to the odd side balls, that reality is maintained in the mirror view. With a rear facing camera, the image would have to be mirror-ed to maintain the orientation. If the image was presented in its native form, it could cause the driver to adjust to the left when he or she really needs to adjust to the right. Baller kurt Posted January 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted January 24, 2014 I would rather have a gps receiver at the pylon ,which at the end of the course would give the driver feedback as to centerline deviation from the pylon point. If that could show up on the new MC display that would be cool
