With .5 MPH tolerance a 17.12 was out of tolerance so 17.11 is about 33.711111111

In the old days prior to ZO a 17.11 was as slow as you could go and sill be in tolerance. The driver should have been paid in beer or anything else he may have requested.

Every 1/10th of a mile per hour is worth about .04 seconds in course time. Example is 34.0 is ~ 17.03.....so to get 17.11 on ZO you would have to be in practice mode and dial it down to 33.9 mph or 33.8 mph; but, it will still not feel like PP.

From the olde days of Physics, Distance=Rate X Time

Or, Rate = Distance/Time

For metric measurements, that ends up being D*3.60/T. D in meters, T in seconds.

So 259m at 16.95 = 55.0... Kph. To get to MPH, divide by 1.609344 (exact). 17.11

is about 54.5kph or 33.86 mph.

Reminds me of the days well before Speed Control and Rules about using up the

tolerances. One nice private site in the East would regularly run 1mph tolerances

and use as much of the slow side as possible. At the time, that meant running

something like 16.5's. Probably also before electronic timing like the Lockett system.
