Baller gsm_peter Posted September 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 Yippe! First time this season I tried any pass above 30. Run a full robust pass at 31,0 (50 Km/h)! (sorry clip seems to be there 2 times in a row) Did follow up with 4 @31,6 15 off! My season has been quite disappointing with a lot of poor skiing. Started in May and skied way below last season results (made quite a few 30 in September last year). Could hardly get through 27 mph more than a few times during 12 runs. Went on a 4 days coaching session in early June to Italy. Last day I got 7/8 full passes at 27-28. Now I was reasonable happy!! Back in Sweden a few days later, I could only get 1/8 full pass at 27!!! Was 'coaching warranty' only local to the country ;0/ ? The bad form was stable as concrete for all of June and July. Took 2 weeks off and did just some free skiing. Even tried a trick ski to see if that helped. Almost gave up skiing for ever! In early August my form started to slowly improve. Got more and more full passes every run and even a at few at 30 mph. Now I hope I will get a full easy 32 before end of the season. Yesterdays run: - Opener at 28. Was very easy. - Two full 29 with out problems. - Then one very easy 30 (49 km/h) - Coach/driver cheated me and increased to 30,1 (driver just wanted med to get a PB). No problems. - For the first time this season I tried above 30. Run a full 31,0 -Real speed (50 Km/h). Made full pass easy - At this time I was getting tireder but I finally tried a 31,6 mph (51 km/h) Got 4 boies first pass and second I was to tiered PS Last year I did not bother about the gate. Just focused on getting the rhythm. Got the gate for approx 25% of the runs. I have really not changed much, maybe pull out a bit earlier and a bit wider. And oppps, this season I manage to get the gate type 95% of my runs. DS

Baller gsm_peter Posted September 10, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 @Razorskier1 Thanks! My long time goal is to improve so I may shorten the rope. Unfortunately I am getting a bit old and do not have so many years ahead of me to improve. (First time I saw a slalom corse was 4 years ago at age of 52.....) Baller Skoot1123 Posted September 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 You have plenty of years of skiing ahead. Keep at it my friend.
Baller GOODESkier Posted September 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 GREAT JOB jumping on the course later in life! The path into 1 and 3 ball headed towards those weeds must play head games at shorter lengths...???

Baller gsm_peter Posted September 10, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 @GOODESkier Thanks! It is always great to get feedback. The seegrass grow slowly. We usually keep type 10 feet of space. I did run into the grass from the other direction a few weeks ago. Manage to get into an extremely efficient position going into 6. Got so high speed so the turn ended up plus 10 feets outside the boie in the see grass. The ski did not turn at all....

Baller jipster43 Posted September 10, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 10, 2014 Pffff! 56 is the new 30! Lots of ski time ahead of you. I ski with a fella' several times a year who started late and is now in his 70's. He PB'd at the last tournament we were at together getting 2@35'. bogboy
@gsm_peter way to go! Improvement forward, and new pb's is a great feeling. Keep skiing a lot, get lots of good advise from better skiers, and some pro coaching, and that good mussel memory will really set in. I have two years on you, and believe me, we have plenty of time to keep on improving.

Baller gsm_peter Posted October 29, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 29, 2014 Update Got 6 sets during the weekend in perfect conditions in warm water in Madrid. Great coaching at Sesena from Ricardo Botas! Improved my PB to three full 32's and had my ever first try on 34. I made 4 balls at 34! This was 6 balls improvement over six sets... It was sort of easy. I just had to drive the ski all the way through the turn and start to load a bit later. So I am really happy that I finally made this years goal! (even though it was in one of my last runs for the season)

Baller gsm_peter Posted October 29, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 29, 2014 @Skoot1123 & @Than_Bogan Yes it really felt great! I had no expectations at all when I tried the 34. Just decided to enjoy and not to change anything. It really felt fun and easy and I got a surprised it was not harder. I am now for the first time convinced that I will be able to short the rope before I get too old. Next years goal will be to run at least a few at 22 off. Thanks all for your positive feedback! It makes me feel great.
