Baller Bill22 Posted September 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 24, 2014 What size Vapor boot? Would an 11 be too small? I wear 11 - 11 1/2 running shoe & 11 1/2 work boot. I have a skinny and narrow foot.
Baller JWebSki Posted September 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 24, 2014 I have a 2014 vapor boot size 11. I wear a size 10.5 shoe. The boot is a little tight but not uncomfortable. If I was you I would order a size 12. The intuition liner molds very well to your foot.
Baller thager Posted September 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 24, 2014 Depends, I would say a 12 but I am a 10.5. and wore size 11 RS-1 boots. I recently went down a size to 10.0 Stradas and that is working well too. Took a little time for the big toe to pack out though.
Baller Bill22 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted September 24, 2014 Thanks. With the heat molded liner, sounds like a 12 and they will form to my foot. Too small would not be good.
ChadW
The vapors have a thick liner, go with the 12. I wear a 9 running shoe and I found the vapor 10 fit better, especially after heat molding.
Baller Moskier3ev Posted September 24, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 24, 2014 I also have a skinny narrow foot size 11. I went with a size 10 because I was afraid there would be too much room in the 11. When I get my next pair they will be 11 my 10 is just a little short. Baller Zman Posted September 25, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 25, 2014 I wear size 8-1/2 shoe and the Strada size 9's are perfect. And, I wear them without using the insole. You can install the insoles to snug things up a bit. And, the only laces you want to be tight are the lower laces which will surely snug up as tight as you care to if you go with size 12. I tried on the 8's and they were stupid uncomfortable. Should never be uncomfortable in hard shells or hybrids, or might as well go back to rubber. Baller JWebSki Posted September 25, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 25, 2014 The strada and vapor boots seem to be sized a little bit different. I have a size 10 strada and it is a bit small but not too bad. I have a 11 vapor and it is not much bigger than my size 10 strada.
Baller ToddL Posted September 25, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 25, 2014 I've been very happy with my Sz 10 Stradas (shoe size 10). Just ordered Sz 10 Vapors. Hope they aren't too tight. When I mold them, I'm going to wrap my toes to create a more open "toe box".

ChadW
@JWebSki The liners are thicker in the vapor boots and the later model stradas. The black liners are in the newer boots, the gray liners are thinner and were used in the earlier model stradas. That's what accounts for the sizing difference. I've used both models. Baller SkiJay Posted September 25, 2014 Baller Share Posted September 25, 2014 @Bill22 Put a set of Zapz insoles in the shells and the 12s will be perfect. Zapz have excellent arch support, fit the shell shape as if made by Radar, are soft where the boots' mounting lugs protrude, never fall out, last forever, and improve edge control. And if you don't heat mold them, the generous arch acts like canting. http://zapzinsoles.com/lp3/
Baller Bill22 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 21, 2014 The size 12 fits good. Got a good deal with free shipping from Miami Nautique. Skied on it for the first time yesterday. It feels good but my toes slid down and pushed up against the front of the boot. Maybe I need to tighten the lower laces up a little more. ChadW
@Bill22 If you haven't do so, heat mold the liners; that should eliminate the slip.
Baller Bill22 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 21, 2014 @ChadW @scotchipman I did the home bake and it worked Ok. When I try it on at home (dry) after heat molding it feels great. An 11 may be too short, 12 is a little hard to get into. I am not saying an 11 would not be better but I heat molded it and skied on it. I don't think I could return them now. I will try an insert to lift my foot and fill the arch. Baller_ RichardDoane Posted October 21, 2014 Baller_ Share Posted October 21, 2014 @bill22 - the toe laces need to be good and tight to keep your heel back if you're keeping the upper lace fairly loose
Baller Bill22 Posted October 21, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 21, 2014 @richarddoane thanks. I'll see how it does Saturday.
Baller JWebSki Posted October 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2014 Agreed I tighten the lower laces tightly and leave the top ones loose
Baller SkiJay Posted October 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2014 @JWebSki For the top laces, loose is a relative term. If you pull 90% of the stretch out of the top laces, you'll get most of the support without jeopardizing the forward release. That's only about ¼ of how tight Radar says is okay, but it's all you need for good support.
Baller JWebSki Posted October 22, 2014 Baller Share Posted October 22, 2014 I try not to stretch the top laces at all just enough so they aren't going to come undone
Baller Bill22 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 23, 2014 @scotchipman I picked up some 1/16" & 1/8" gasket material to take up some room. I am going to put it under the liner and try them Saturday.
Baller Bill22 Posted October 27, 2014 Author Baller Share Posted October 27, 2014 @scotchipman I replaced the Radar insole with an orthopedic insole. The raised arch of the orthopedic was enough to make the boot fit better. My toes did not hit the front of the boot and I upped my PB by 1 ball, the second time on the new boot.
