Radar's Lithium Blue Vapor VS Green Vapor!

I have spent over a year on the green (lithium) Vapor and really loved it. This spring i was doing some reading here on BOS and was drawn into a discussion where @Horton and others mentioned the blue ski working better than the original green. I thought "hold on a minute its the same mold how could it be that much better"? Well that got the gears turning but i was very hesitant so i reached out to my buddy @chrisrossi and he explained the mold is the same but the material lay up is different creating new improved performance.

I pulled the trigger and got my hands on a shinny new blue stick this week and wow!!! After only 2 sets on it Monday (in 15-20mph cross course winds) my mind is blown!

I have skied around 16 sets this spring. Skiing alot of -22 and 28 with the occasional -32. I had only one try at -35 this spring before Monday.

The biggest thing i noticed right away was how much better this ski turns! I found the ski initiating easier and finishing way better which put me into a leveraged pulling position sooner creating an earlier line coming into the next bouy. You might be saying great if it turns better you've lost speed behind the boat right? Wrong! this ski is just as fast as the previous!

1st set went 2 -22's, 2 -28's, 1 -32 tried 32 again and blew it on my gate only getting to the 3 ball. Went back and smoked another 28.

2nd set went 22, 3 28's, then the easiest 32 all spring dropped! My ski partner thought 35 off was in order so i agreed and managed 3 full bouys!! Season practice PB! Dropped back and ran 2 more 32's.

This all took place in a dry suit with 15-20mph cross cours wind 57degree water 60 degree air (not ideal)

In summary this ski after only 2 sets has put my confidence level at an all time high! Me and this blue ski will be doing damage into 38 off this season. I will try to post some video of a 28 and 32.

What was I on last year or what was the last ski I liked? I had a lost year last season. I traded my Goode Mid for a Nano1 which I never really liked. I skied half the season on a Helix before going back to the N1. I decided to start fresh.

The blue vapor (visually stunning and matches my centurion perfectly) is a different animal than the green. I hate to admit in public that JTH is right, but he is. The blue ski is amazing. First 2 words that come to mind is; earlier and easier!!! Should be a remarkable year

I will paint any green ski blue for 100 cash if it makes you feel better, conversely if your not getting the better performance from your blue vapor I will paint it green so you fell better but that will cost you 250 because I like the Blue

So the deal is my all time practice PB is one the green ski but I always felt like I had to be pretty technical to ski well on it. I have only a handful of rides on the blue but it seems so much more forgiving without giving up any performance.

If you go back to my review of the green ski I talked a lot about how to get off side to flow. On the blue ski I just rip the turn.

I bought me a blue one this spring thanks to some advice from a well known pro skier coach and buddy, and have already seen great results and have been making PB's one after another. I'm not a tournament skier but I am a guy who struggled at 15 off not too long ago who can now run into 28 off on it.

I have now increased my speed and again am seeing new PB's along the way!

I was getting all pumped for a blue Vapor, until Sully brought up the Hawks. I'm a die hard Packer fan, so I'm still in mourning. Week 2 redemption at Lambeau!

A good thread though. I just put my new Radar boots on my D3, in anticipation of picking a green once the water warms up. Now I'm rethinking that plan. FWIW, Radar boots are like bedroom slippers compared to Leverage bindings:)

The 2015 "blue ski" is the same shape as the 2014 "green". The longitudinal flex and rocker are the same. The difference lies in the carbon fiber laminate schedule. The 2015 Vapor is softer torsionally resulting in a ski that initiates and finishes the turn more easily creating sustainable angle and more space before the buoy.

@eddie_roberts_jr can you comment on the lithium senate's lay up and how it compares to the lithium vapor. I am 54, interested in both and ski at 32/34 mph up to -32. My ski buddy is 72 and also interested in both. He skis at 30 mph up through -35. We are both on older HO's. Thank you !

Bastards! I love my green Vapor and unlike @Horton I have no issues with needing to be particularly technical to ski well on it. Of course my definition of "ski well" isn't at the same level as Hortons. Nor is my ability level...

When the '16 version comes out and you're all trashing the blue ones (as you're trashing the green ones now) I'll be happy to take one off your hands at about half price.

Any chance I can talk you Radar guys into replacing the yellow with Orange? My wife may not even ask about my secret ski fund if I show up with an Orange & Blue Auburn U Vapor. And it will make me ski better, of course

Well being a sucker for the latest and greatest and anything that will possibly increase my ball count I gave in and ordered the blue ski @Horton I have been using the settings you gave me except I left the front boot at 29 7/8 and man they rock

Now that you guys have all traded your green Vapors for blue ones I am sorry to tell you that Mauve Vapor is the best ski ever and way better than the blue one.

Ok, I'm totally lost now. I'm carrying more speed on my offside turns than ever, and with what feels like a tighter turn angle. On side, I'm feeling a bit like I'm having to force it. So, fin settings for blue, any different for green? I'm confused.

Edit: to be clear, I'm not looking for tips, just clarification on setting: same/different green/blue.

And Mauve is a word/color that should only be held for use in the description of your sweet mauve Ford escort.

I'm still boycotting the Vapor after I learned of it's existence 2 days after I picked up a new Orange Strada (replacing my old Strada). I rode a green on last spring and could feel it's potential though. I may lift my embargo after I manage I get a dozen sets in (3 sets so far).

If I do acquire one, you can all be sure that shortly thereafter something new will be released.
