Members acmx
Need to replace the cover on my Shorestation boat lift canopy. Wondering if anyone has any connections that can get a better price, I think their about $900-$1000. I've kicked around the idea of putting a permanent roof on the existing frame, but not sure if that's a good idea even if I anchor it down when my boat's not on it in the winter. If anyone has seen a permant roof on one I'd like to hear about it. Thanks
Baller fu_man Posted May 12, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 12, 2015 Of course depends on size and material but check iboats.com. 22'x108" canopy cover is $600-800.
Baller 34mph Posted May 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2015 You could also get it shrink wrapped like a boat . I went a diff route I had mine custom made , with longer sides all the way around, so never have to cover the boat . A custom boat canvas shop should be able to do it , however not cheap at all
Baller mlange Posted May 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2015 Got mine from Syntex and after three years it's still like new. When I do need to replace mine I'll be buying from them again. http://www.syntexindustries.com/product/Boat_Lift_Canopies.php Mike
Baller_ DW Posted May 13, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted May 13, 2015 I would search for a local canvas shop, I have had good luck with some small shops doing custom covers at a (much) better price than commercially available. They have used the old one as a pattern and can add some custom touches per your input. Timing can be a big key also for turnaround and pricing. Baller jstaab3 Posted May 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2015 you can put a metal roof on the top of your lift for way less money, and than if you want you can add some side curtains from a local tarp shop I will send you a picture of what I did if you like let me know or call if you have questions 785-623-3750 jason

Baller fu_man Posted May 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2015 @jstaab3 I am really intrigued by your project. Maybe others are too. Looks like metal roofing material from home depot. I would imagine the roof will hold up way better and longer than any material/vinyl cover. Wouldn't have to remove it for the winter either...just the skirt. Were you able to order pieces long enough for the length of the canopy (20-22ft) or did you have to piece it together? Pipe straps to bolt sheet metal to canopy ribs? Looks like grommets in the tarp...pull strapped to the perimeter of the canopy? Whatever info you can provide.
Baller jstaab3 Posted May 13, 2015 Baller Share Posted May 13, 2015 yes the metal roofing from home depot would work, my roof has been on there since I put it on in 2004 the wind and storms we get in Kansas has never bothered it, I used sheet metal screws that have a rubber gasket to seal from water so the roof would not leak and I screwed the roof to the frame/cross pieces that the old canopy would rest on. the side curtains I used a sheet metal screw with some washers to hold tight against the frame. The roofing I used was a solid sheet no cutting required they will overlap a couple ribs, and the lengths I don't remember either 22 or 24 feet I can measure and let you know. I took my side curtains off got tired of messing with them when wiping and putting boat away. the side curtains I bought at upholstery shop cant remember the name of the material but I can find out as well it was really good material and will not tear or rip

mopowpow
@acmx, we've used Shorestation lifts for years, the local marina sold lift covers from Shoreline. They were just as nice as the Shorestation, but cost less.
