Chris Taylor
Has anyone been behind one of these? Whats the wake like, are they usable in the course? I am looking for our next family oriented boat.
Baller igkya Posted June 10, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2015 I owned a 196 and then a 206. The 206 is a great boat and skis just as great. A buddy bought a 216. The 216 was an attempt at a good crossover boat and the wake wasn't big enough for wake boarding and too big for slalom. That being said I could free ski the 216 at 28 off but the wake was a bit of a concern. No way I'd want to ski it at longer lines or slower than 34mph. If you're serious about skiing in the course, get the 206 instead of the 216.
Baller_ The_MS Posted June 10, 2015 Baller_ Share Posted June 10, 2015 The 206 is a great boat. I owned 2 and the wakes are 196 like.
Baller Fatroll Posted June 10, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2015 I have a 2003 206 and love it. The slalom wake is fine for me (34 mph) although the wake is a little big for my kids and wife who are slower speed slalom skiers (17-28 mph). With enough weight, it provides enough wake for a beginner to intermediate wakeboarder or kneeboarder. Frankly, I think newer wakeboarders benefit from the smaller and narrow wake (as compared to most v-drives) anyway. I am in the middle of a job installing aftermarket ballast for boarding purposes as well. If interested, I can send pics when done. It also barefoots adequately for our purposes. We have found it to be a perfect overall family boat.
Baller brody Posted June 10, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 10, 2015 my buddy has a 216, I absolutely hate skiing behind it. I've never skied the 206 but have heard good things about it

Chris Taylor
@Deanoski , @Bulldog A 196 is closed bow however, so that won't work for a family very well. I already have a closed bow tug.
east tx skier
You might also consider the predecessor to the 206, the TSC Ski Nautique Open Bow (SNOB) (late 90s early 2000s). The cabin is cramped and the open bow is a playpen, but the wake is as good or better (according to some) than the TSC Ski Nautique.
Baller ForrestGump Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 206 is fine to ski behind. Better than some of the prostars from 2003-2013. The 216 will cause you to need knee surgery.
Baller davemac Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 I agree with Shane and brody. My buddy has a 216. It is always awkward turning down his offers to use his boat.
Baller swc5150 Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 I remember thinking the 206 was huge compared to my 196, until seeing a 216 in person. For a family, the 206 is all you'd need. If you're the Duggars, then maybe a 216;)
Baller 6balls Posted June 11, 2015 Baller Share Posted June 11, 2015 206 is great...was the tourney promo boat for a few of those years.
