@303Skier Antique vacuum?

 

Holes in the plate can be used to substantially reduce your binding weight with no adverse performance issues. Nascar cars use lots of lightening holes to minimize weight and maximize performance.

 

You have a nice vacuum to clean up the chips. Lighten up the plate. @Brewski did a nice light plate (ghost plate I think it was called). Very cool!

@303Skier the reason plates have a set of holes and two sets of slots is to allow for some movement while the holes or microjust keep it in place. If you only drill holes you end up with a more rigid total and more stress to the screws and inserts.

@gregy I used Bondo and then took my Dremel to it with a sanding drum to clean it up to look pretty. After I was done making it look clean, I took all the hardware off and spray painted the entire plate with some metal flake paint. I got the paint at Autozone.
