Baller WCM Posted December 15, 2016 Baller Posted December 15, 2016 I currently have a 2017 HO CX Superlite on order through Overtons ($1150). I found a new 2016 HO Syndicate V type R for ($995). Both have Double XMax Bindings. I'm an advanced skier and have run a course a few times but mainly ski open water here on the Brazos in Waco. I want to advance to running a course more often but I need to find one near Waco. My question is, which ski should I go with?? The CX is on backorder so I can cancel it.
Baller_ aupatking Posted December 15, 2016 Baller_ Posted December 15, 2016 I'd go with the money, the VTR is not so advanced that you can't ski it.
Baller ScottScott Posted December 15, 2016 Baller Posted December 15, 2016 The "more ski for the money" would be the syndicate (and actually 1150 for a CX seems like it might be a little high.....maybe not with the boots? ) but for mostly open water and a little course skiing (even into a fairly short line,) thats exactly what the CX was designed for. Other concerns would be what speed you ski, your size, and length of those skiis.
Baller bigskieridaho Posted December 15, 2016 Baller Posted December 15, 2016 Definitely find a ski on SIA. I honestly think a Radar Senate would be a good choice.
Baller Wayne Posted December 16, 2016 Baller Posted December 16, 2016 I would stick with the CX you have on order based on the use you described. It's not going to hold you back compared to the other ski.
Baller DavidP Posted December 16, 2016 Baller Posted December 16, 2016 If you can wait and demo the ski before buying one, that is the safest way to be happy with your purchase.
Baller WCM Posted December 16, 2016 Author Baller Posted December 16, 2016 I'm 165 pounds and ski at 34mph. Everything I've seen I need to be on 67" ski?? I went ahead and canceled the CX with Overton's. I really wanted the HO animal bindings anyway so I ordered those. Now I just need to find a ski. I'm checking out Ski It Again.
mikegile Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 If you are skiing the course at all I'd put you on a 66". I agree with @gregy You can never go wrong with the Vapor!
Baller gregy Posted December 16, 2016 Baller Posted December 16, 2016 @Mike Gile . Both 15 and 16 Vapors or very easy and forgiving. They are all over ski-it-again.
Baller_ aupatking Posted December 16, 2016 Baller_ Posted December 16, 2016 67 is a lot of ski at 165, but anything longer, that you can turn is going to be faster, side to side. Skis that just turn, no matter what input they get, should be ridden long. For that reason I'm a big fan of demoing, or even buying cheap off SIA, to test and sell for about what I put in.
mikegile Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 @gregy, I couldn't agree more. I've had both and now am on a pro build. Best ski out there - easy to ski, forgiving and no limit to performance.
Baller WCM Posted December 17, 2016 Author Baller Posted December 17, 2016 Will the Animal bindings work on the Vapor?
Baller gregy Posted December 17, 2016 Baller Posted December 17, 2016 I used an old Animal front on mine for a few days while waiting for some repair parts. Not sure about the rear.
