Cypresskier
Anyone know who has the most wins for Big Dawg tourneys? Also who has the most overall wins in the final? I know they keep a lot of stats about the number of 38s, 39s and scores at 41 but I don't recall seeing who has the most wins.
Baller jcamp Posted February 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 20, 2017 I believe that Ben Favret and Greg Badal are the only skiers who have won two overall titles.
Baller_ The_MS Posted February 20, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted February 20, 2017 For stop wins, I would bet its Chad

Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted February 21, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted February 21, 2017 Quiz time: Who won the very first Big Dawg? If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller ntx Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 @Bruce_Butterfield I think I know. He has the same first name as another Big Dawg stop winner.

Baller lhoover Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 That would be our friend, Bruce, the infamous Chad Baker. A legend in his own mind......er, time, and a nearby DFW skier. Tell him Hoov says hey.
Baller ntx Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 If I am not mistaken, at that time, the big three boat companies all were involved. Skiers had the choice of which brand to ski behind.
Baller thager Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 Completely forgot about Mr. Baker. Super guy! Sorry Chad!
Baller Orlando76 Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 I thought it was Mike Morgan with the first win.

Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted February 21, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted February 21, 2017 The first few winners were: 2004 Chad Baker 2005 Scott Larson 2006 Mike Morgan 2007 Greg Badal 2008 Ben Favret The first year had a 3 round qualifier with each of the big 3 boats pulling a round. Chet Raley was the expected favorite and top seed going into the head to head, but fell early and was eliminated by the 16th seed in the first round, so he started the top seed jinx that has hit so many. The first year also had a lot of anticipation since whatshisname the cheating dentist entered early but cancelled a week before due to an "injury". If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
Baller Ralph Lee Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 Full list anyone? I'm interested now...
Baller MattP Posted February 21, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 21, 2017 adding to @Bruce_Butterfield's list 2004 Chad Baker 2005 Scott Larson 2006 Mike Morgan 2007 Greg Badal 2008 Ben Favret 2009 Ben Favret 2010 Dave Miller 2011 Kyle Tate 2012 Todd Ristorcelli 2013 Jeremy Newby-Ricci 2014 Andy Mapple 2015 Jeff Rodgers 2016 Greg Badal It will take a little more digging to get all the stop winners. If you didn't know this sport sucks for data.
Supporting Member Than_Bogan Posted February 21, 2017 Supporting Member Share Posted February 21, 2017 Hey what happened to Jeremy? He was on fire that year but I don't recall hearing his name since.
Baller jcamp Posted February 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 22, 2017 @Than_Bogan He did win the 45+ world title last year. He also battles pretty bad back issues.
Baller bishop8950 Posted February 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 22, 2017 @Than_Bogan Jez was one of the top contenders at the finals last year and lost to Greg in the final round. Up to that point I think he ran 39 in both qualifying rounds and in the first 3 pairings of the H2H. I think he just missed 39 against Greg and Badal knocked it down to win. Also, got to go out and celebrate after and Jez came along. He is a great guy as well.
Baller_ The_MS Posted February 22, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted February 22, 2017 Almost everyone chose to ski behind the 196 at the initial Ohio event so MC/MB pulled out and CC eventually picked it up as the title sponsor.
Baller liquid d Posted February 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted February 22, 2017 Yes, the 196 was a superior pull at that time...and it was Greg's and set up sweet..and available for practice too.

Baller_ The_MS Posted February 22, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted February 22, 2017 Back then 38 was the line needed to be run and Greg and USA Miller would play "who let the dogs out" when it was run. I think Baker averaged 2.5@39 to win it Got pretty sick of hearing the song and soon it took 39 to get it played.
