Baller ThePantsManCan Posted November 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 5, 2017 My small family is getting larger!! This Malibu echelon has served us well, but with two kids and wife that love Surfing, I have to budge at least a little. I'm looking to sell my boat for $7,500. Or conversely, I'd be happy to trade someone for a Malibu Sunsetter, Supra Saltare, or a Mastercraft Maristar 240. I get it, I'm dreaming. But still, meh. Bad season to sell a boat, but what the heck? Baller foxriverat Posted November 6, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2017 That would be a good boat for @Ckrueg right in his price range.

Baller Bill22 Posted November 11, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 11, 2017 Everyone knows when the @ThePantsManCan sells a ski the price drops every week. The boat will probably be $5,500 by Monday B) Seriously though this will be a great ski tug for someone. Lov my BU.
Baller ThePantsManCan Posted November 11, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted November 11, 2017 Good Morning! Yes Bill is right. But that price would mean I keep the trailer. Which needs some tlc anyway.

Baller ThePantsManCan Posted November 15, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted November 15, 2017 Well, @Bill22 is right. The boat is now at $5,500. I'm honestly not desperate to sell, I'm just ready to jump into my next water sports phase. I hope this helps somebody out!!!
Baller Bill22 Posted November 15, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2017 umm...umm... I was just joking around? I think the buyer is going to own me a beer. You can't find another boat in this category even close to that price.
Baller 6balls Posted November 15, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 15, 2017 If only you were nearby I woudn't be able to stop myself from looking and would happen to have a wad of cash in my pocket and my trailer ball attached.

Baller_ MISkier Posted November 15, 2017 Baller_ Share Posted November 15, 2017 I have forwarded the SIA link and this thread to a skier in SE Michigan that is looking to buy a boat. The worst slalom equipment I own is between my ears.

Baller MDB1056 Posted November 20, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 20, 2017 Hopefully this sold by now. If I hadn't just bought a second already and in hot water with wife for 2 now I'd definitely grab this boat. this is a SCREAMING deal
gt2003
Still available? How many hours is a well taken care of motor good for usually? How's the interior (seats mostly) for the age? Wow, this could really cost me and force me to buy a pontoon for the wife!
shansen345
@gt2003 We got 2300-2400 hours on my club's GT40 engine before we swapped it. And a lot of its life was spent in salt water with raw water cooling (I know, I know... I have suggested closed cooling to the powers-that-be too). Baller ThePantsManCan Posted November 20, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted November 20, 2017 Boat is still available. The general condition should be considered Good. With a little buff and cleaning, I'd consider it to be VERY Good. It IS a screaming deal and I'm not sure why it's still here either!
Baller vtjc Posted November 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 22, 2017 I sent @ThePantsManCan an email about his boat. I am not familiar with the older Indmar Monsoon motors or mid 90's Malibu's are their any parts(ECU, Dash Switches...) that are no longer available new? From the same era I know ECU availability is an issue with PCM GT-40 motors and hoses are an issue with Indmar LT-1 motors.
Baller ThePantsManCan Posted November 22, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted November 22, 2017 Hey I'm up! There are no issues with this boat mechanically. Parts availability for this Make/Model is no better or worse than any other boat of this age. (DOES NOT have the parts concerns a of an LT1 Motor)There was an old onboard computer thingy that did old school timing, depth, and a number of other functions, but most of those things wigged out and stopped functioning. This one is no different, sitting embedded in the dash not doing anything. It doesn't manage anything engine related.
Baller vtjc Posted November 22, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 22, 2017 @thepantsmancan thanks for the prompt reply. I wasn’t implying something was mechanically wrong with the boat your selling. Just trying to research this vintage Malibu. What parts are available for a 96 Indmar Monsoon. Can you get a replacement ECU, hoses, injectors, water and fuel pumps…? I didn’t find much searching online for this information. I am less interested in the comparison with other EFI motors of that era. Your comment “Parts availability for this Make/Model is no better or worse than any other boat of this age. (DOES NOT have the parts concerns a of an LT1 Motor)” is contradictory. Share if you know about parts availability for an early Indmar Monsoon, versus the comparable an Indmar LT-1 or PCM GT-40?
Baller TFisher Posted November 27, 2017 Baller Share Posted November 27, 2017 VTJC - I have a malibu with the monsoon. Fuel pump is available thru skidim or carter. I haven't had any issue getting parts (most of them are GM parts). The only part I'm aware of that could be an issue is the ECM. Last time I looked, ECM's were pricey. If I recall correctly, there was a thread on this site a few months ago about the GT40 ECM's having a similar issue as to availability.
Baller ThePantsManCan Posted December 2, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted December 2, 2017 Well, it's still here. I realize boat's don't sell quickly this time of year, but at this price.... seems like an eternity. I'll be happy to deliver/meet within a 200 mile distance from my home in Central PA. Baller MuskokaKy Posted December 4, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 4, 2017 @ThePantsManCan very interested but I am in Toronto. Calling to check on duties and customs now. Not sure where in Penn you are but how close to Buffalo can you get? Even with the exchange rate this is a good deal for us up here. Hard to find these.
Baller andjules Posted December 4, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 4, 2017 @MuskokaKy Good call, I thought about buying this and importing it too. I imported 3 inboards between 2010 and 2013. There will be no duty/customs but you'll need to pay HST on a believable and documented sale price, both boat and trailer — you'll want separate bills of sale for both, and interestingly, they are much stricter about the trailer than the boat (you may need to fax the trailer docs to the US border to allow you to legally export it, etc.). You'll also face trailer inspection fees and licensing fees on both boat and trailer, obviously. It's getting a bit old, but this webpage is the one to study (including comments in recent years). Baller ThePantsManCan Posted December 5, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @MuskokaKy I can get pretty close to Buffalo. Meeting somewhere about an hour south of there would work for me. I know literally nothing about title transfers for export situations. I'm afraid I wouldn't be any more help than handing you papers and saying thanks. Obviously I'd like to assist in any way I can, so I'll follow your lead. Baller foxriverat Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 Dude your crazy letting it go so cheap. I would think you could get more trading it in to a dealer.
Baller MuskokaKy Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 Thanks guys, was working on this all night. @andjules you're were on the money...the trailer is the biggest pain. still seems like it could be worth the hassle. @ThePantsManCan i will PM you
Baller ThePantsManCan Posted December 5, 2017 Author Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @foxriverat, I know right?? Problem is, if I trade into a dealer, the boats they have to sell are waaaay too high a price. Also, I've never financed my toys. I've got enough payments already.
Baller foxriverat Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @ThePantsManCan I hear you about not wanting payments. In 2010 I traded my 2002 springer softail even for a 96 supra ts6m. Then this spring my buddy offered me a great deal on 2000 response lx for $13000 So I sold the supra this spring for $11000 and bought the response. Spring is your friend if you could wait. Baller MuskokaKy Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @andjules i will keep you posted. either way next spring. This would just be an addition. might do some long line barefootin behind it as well. debating it in my head at work. $$$ is right, and that's the thing making me want to pull the trigger.
Baller andjules Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @MuskokaKy and of course you could probably flip it in overpriced Muskoka for a modest profit, even after exchange, taxes and fees... although it can be a tough market for closed-bow boats. Ontario cottagers love their bowriders!
Baller MuskokaKy Posted December 5, 2017 Baller Share Posted December 5, 2017 @andjules SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. lol i will be tempted to flip it as i know what i can get in our market May-July; the only thing is having two inboard dockside is a nice option. When the one is out for a cruise or at a neighbours visiting, i can still hit it. youre on my list for rip's when and if.
gt2003
I guess I can say something now since I got the title in the mail today. Thanks @ThePantsManCan! Can't wait to ski it. Anyone have a users guide for Perfect Pass Stargazer??
Baller_ MISkier Posted January 3, 2018 Baller_ Share Posted January 3, 2018 @gt2003, I have a guide, but it is from 2008. How old is your StarGazer? Edited: sent you a PM with the guides attached. gt2003
Thanks @MISkier , I'll look through them. I've heard it's not too difficult. At my level, just having set speed control will be the biggest advantage.
