Baller Chef23 Posted July 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2018 I want to buy some fresh mounting screws and washers. I know I can go to Perf Ski and buy them but I want to have some backup stuff and i figure they can be purchased cheaper somewhere else If I remember right I need 8-32 by 1/2 long stainless what i cant seem to find are the nice cupped finishing washers. Anywhere you guys can recommend online?
Baller dvskier Posted July 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2018 McMaster has everything you need.
Baller skialex Posted July 18, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 18, 2018 If you use panheads then yes 1/2 but if you use flat head countersunks then the most commonly used are the 5/8 long. In some skis that have blind inserts you go 1/8 shorter, 1/2 for countersunks and 3/8 for pan heads. Albany county fasteners is a great source you buy 250 screws for about $10. Baller oldjeep Posted July 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 Home depot, or every hardware store around here has the stainless cup washers and screws https://www.homedepot.com/p/The-Hillman-Group-8-Stainless-Steel-Finish-Washer-40-Pack-2906/204786322
Baller jjackkrash Posted July 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 I got sick of paying hobby stores for hardware for my boy's RC monster trucks and started using Tacoma Screw Products. They have pretty much everything for anything as far a screws and fasteners go, as far as I can tell, and I can walk in locally and ask if I am not exactly sure what I need. http://www.tacomascrew.com

Baller Edbrazil Posted July 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 Back up North, I went to Home Depot and Lowes for such stuff. With Lowes getting the edge on more stainless products, such as eyebolts for poured concete anchors. Here in Florida, my local Ace is good. Baller PatM Posted July 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 @Chef23 if you want to take a trip out west a bit Klem's in Spencer, MA seems to have everything. Although I hate to see you take the hour trip and be wrong. I know if I need something like that they have it.
Baller Chef23 Posted July 19, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 Thanks to everyone. I find our local Home Depot is spotty on stainless. There is an Ace and a local hardware store nearby so I am going to check there.
Baller Deke Posted July 19, 2018 Baller Share Posted July 19, 2018 Our small town ACE has a surprisingly great selection of stainless. If you don't find what you need there then try McMaster. My take on Home Depot is that it is sort of like Walmart in terms of quality specialty items.
