Baller disland Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 Looking for a ski bag for day to day use that will hold ski, vest, handle, gloves. Also would like a shoulder strap. Polling my local ski crew and no one seems happy with what they have. Input is welcome
Baller oldjeep Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 If you can find one of the previous version HO Syndicate bags (non neoprene), they are awesome and extremely durable. I've got a couple of them. This one (although this is the small size, I've got the longer version) https://www.waterskiworld.com/water_skis/syndicate-padded-slalom-ski-bag.html Edit - although there is no way that you are getting a vest in there
Baller Chef23 Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 I have the Goode Deluxe padded ski bag (http://store.goode.com/deluxe-padded-ski-bag/). I think there are 4 or 5 of them on our lake. They are great for carrying all your stuff to the dock from the house.
Baller thager Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 The O'Brien Elite bag was a really good bag if you can find one. Can carry all your stuff and a vest. Though I saw one on EvilPay for $75 recently.
Baller PurdueSkier Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 Purchased the radar padded wheelie bag and have been very happy with it. Depending on how you use it, it might be a little big for daily use. It is great for travel and taking to tournaments.
mikegile
+1 for the Radar bag. perfect size to travel with all your gear.
Baller Not_The_Pug Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 Snowboard bags with rollers work great. They are padded and fit all the extra gear. We have been using one for years. Even travel with it on flights.
Baller ktm300 Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 This Radar bag worked out great for me. Not padded. Simple. Can put ski in neoprene sock if you need a belt and suspenders. Only $50.
Baller oldjeep Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 If you are talking about travelling then a sporttube 3. Put your ski in its bag, duct tape a 1x6 to the bottom of it making the 1x6 stick out a couple inches further front and back and then stick the whole mess inside the tube. Baller Chef23 Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 That Radar bag if it is only $50 looks like a better deal than the Goode bag at $100. I think he was looking for daily use so I don't thing a big bag with wheels or Sportube is the right choice.
Baller disland Posted October 31, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 @Chef23 Yes exactly Goode has the should strap tho Thanks
Baller UWSkier Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 Haven't really seen a bag that's a daily user for all that gear that's not overly bulky. If I'm traveling with all my gear, it goes in my Db Snow Roller bag, which I've reviewed on this site and love. I wouldn't recommend it as a daily bag though. What's wrong with a normal padded slalom bag and some decent hangers for everything else? With a rope-keeper, one stout hanger can hold a rope, vest, heater top, and gloves pretty easily. That's what I normally do for day to day use and it works well.
Baller PatM Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 I have the Goode bag that @Chef23 mentioned. It fits everything I need. A really great bag. Notice I didn't say Goode?
Baller Orlando76 Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 I was thinking about the Reflex bag as is has a little bit extra room for vest or something. But it was just a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time so I settled for my 3rd Radar bag. With that being said I have bought 3 Radar bags so I must not have any problems with it, just not amazed about it.
Baller Chef23 Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 @disland the Goode bag also has some padding in the bottom and straps to hold the ski in place along with protection for the fin. Overall it is a great bag and it will easily hold ski, vest, gloves, wetsuit, handle/rope and a towel.

Baller Zman Posted October 31, 2018 Baller Share Posted October 31, 2018 Performance used to have a great soft bag with light padding that would fit a slalom ski and all your gear gear.
Baller gregy Posted November 1, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2018 I use the Radar bag above. The $50 one. It's getting warn, I'll be getting another one. No padding so you'll need to have a padded sock or bag for the ski.
Baller skialex Posted November 1, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 1, 2018 Ok, not exactly the right answer to your question but for day to day use I wanted something that is very portable, take little space in my car, keeps moisture away, no zipper easy to load and carry. So few years ago I made a fleece cover for my ski and a gear tote bag about ikea size. I have made the Gear bag out of a durable waterproof fabric, put long carrying straps and inside pockets for keys, cellphone, etc. This is what almost all my ski buddies are using now. I have found a woman who do the sewing and also has an embroidery machine that can put any logo or name on it. I also have a padded Goode ski bag that only use for air travel. My car is small not easy for day to day use.

Baller Chef23 Posted November 3, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 3, 2018 @pregom I have a 3 event bag for my son when he needs his jump skis and it is great. We have had good luck with it. I can get his jump skis, trick and slalom in it and keep it under 50 lbs if I don’t have much else in it

Baller perfski Posted November 4, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 4, 2018 Masterline's bag is still pretty much the industry standard...and super durable. Also have sold Burton Roller Snowboard bags to several pro skiers throughout the years. Let us know if we can help. We have options for sure! Baller andjules Posted November 6, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 6, 2018 I've posted this padded Stage alpine ski bag before. Not perfect, not a cool brand, but damn-good value for money ($40). 175 cm = ~69"
Baller disland Posted November 7, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted November 7, 2018 @andjules Wow, that bag looks nice. Does the standard size fit a slalom binder with the zipper closed?
Baller andjules Posted November 7, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 7, 2018 @disland, yes, the standard size fits fine. When I fly, I put my 67" ski in a traditional ski bag (with a few short pieces of pipe insulation around some of the edges), and put all of that inside this bag + vest ++ and that works fine. Flown it to Florida, Spain and Thailand. It's starting to look a little worse for wear but I'd say I got my $40 out of it.
Baller disland Posted November 7, 2018 Author Baller Share Posted November 7, 2018 @andjules awesome thanks
Baller Zman Posted November 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 8, 2018 One thing to keep in mind if using a bag for flying. Most airlines will not cover damage to contents of a ski bag (or the bag) if it is a soft side bag versus a SportTube. So, you take on some risk.
Baller andjules Posted November 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 8, 2018 @Zman yes. a) in ~10+ flights in soft bags over the last 4 years, I've had zero problems but b) it's worth noting that I'm travelling with a $500-a-few-years-ago ski-it-again special that I'd be excited to have an excuse to replace, not a brand-new, just-unboxed $2000 Goode that would leave me with a broken heart if it came off a plane in two pieces. Risk ≠ probability Risk = probability * consequence
Baller thager Posted November 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 8, 2018 A few years ago I had a discussion with the GOAT about ski bags at his lake. I showed him my soft Elite bag with an internal box. Andy was totally against traveling with anything but a soft bag. Good enough for him then it's good enough for me.
Baller Zman Posted November 8, 2018 Baller Share Posted November 8, 2018 Hey, I'm not saying don't use a soft bag. Masteline and others make great soft bags. Just pointing out the airline thing so you are not surprised. But, kind of off topic...the OP is about bags for day to day local use.
