Baller BlueSki Posted May 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 Well it’s about f’ing time. At least that is my guess.
Baller skiinxs Posted May 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 ...and birth date for all is published on the awsa web site as well:)
Baller mfjaegersr Posted May 3, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 @Horton - @BlueSki is correct. First ride of the year...it feels like I’m already behind. @skiinxs - then shame on AWSA. That’s a serious (cybersec) party foul. I’ll take the non-panda swipe for the member number; but birthdates shouldn’t be out in the open.
Baller Drago Posted May 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 There was a time when it was our social security #. IKR?
Administrators Horton Posted May 3, 2019 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2019 @mfjaegersr your birthday is not out in the open. Your year of birth is. There is no actual viable information exposed on the USA waterski website except for your average ball count. I would also argue that your date of birth is not actually a worrisome datapoint and your Social Security number has been exposed so many times there's no point in worrying about it also. Baller skier2788 Posted May 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 @Drago found a pair of my dad's old trick skis. He had engraved his SS# on the binding plates. How times have changed.
Baller mfjaegersr Posted May 3, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 @Horton Risk, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I’ve had my identity compromised twice, despite a career in IT and cyber security, and above-average awarenesss and diligence. So, I realize I can’t stop it (ID theft), yet I can make it ‘not easier’ by protecting my info reasonably. Times have definitely changed, often not for the better and certainly not in this case. Anybody else keep a ski journal BTW?! (An encrypted point in my original post...) ?
Administrators Horton Posted May 3, 2019 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2019 @mfjaegersr understood. Baller oldjeep Posted May 3, 2019 Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 You do realize that both your birthdate and member number are readable in that picture. If you are concerned about security, don't post pictures of things that you drew a line over.

Baller_ The_MS Posted May 3, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted May 3, 2019 Any good journal would have to include info on IPA after the ski set
Baller mfjaegersr Posted May 3, 2019 Author Baller Share Posted May 3, 2019 @oldjeep you’re welcome to edit your reply and remove the photo. I’d certainly appreciate it, and would offer that your text is equally ‘effective’ without the pic.
Administrators Horton Posted May 3, 2019 Administrators Share Posted May 3, 2019 @mfjaegersr you've taken way more than enough unsolicited crap. I removed the image from the @oldjeep's post. Baller_ Bruce_Butterfield Posted May 4, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted May 4, 2019 Ok since when is there a limit on unsolicited crap taken by anyone on this board? A number of years back I had some tools stolen out of my barn. Right after that I engraved my ssn on many of my tools and toolboxes. Idk if that was a good idea or not, but haven’t had anything stolen since. I do keep a ski journal, but can’t remember if it includes ipa records or not. WTF was this thread about anyway? If it was easy, they would call it Wakeboarding
