Baller Dirt Posted June 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2019 We have found that the rope gets caught on the fiberglass platform much more than the teak.
SkiSam
Hate to put a non-answer in, but it depends on the boat. Some ProStars look awful with teak, some look great. In Teak's favor: Floats (rare that this matters), easily repaired if damaged. In glass' favor: No maintenance, foam/seadek easily changed if damaged. Everything else is preference on looks. Baller skihacker Posted June 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2019 teak only needs maintenance once every 2 or 3 winters if you coat it with cetol, looks awesome, and if one of your ski partners is a wood shop guy even better
Baller swc5150 Posted June 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2019 I'm with @Than_Bogan in that I can't believe how many still prefer teak. I suppose if just slathering some oil on the visible surface is considered proper maintenance, then it's pretty easy to maintain? I barely have time to ski these days, let alone keep up a platform. Definitely to each their own though.
Baller keithh2oskier Posted June 26, 2019 Baller Share Posted June 26, 2019 I would rather teak my platform than vacuum the boat and wipe down the interior.
Baller_ Jody_Seal Posted June 27, 2019 Baller_ Share Posted June 27, 2019 Not a fan of fiberglass platforms so I built my own teak platform.
